Thanks for the advice, but I already tried that. Got the message “This item isn’t available in your country.”
Not sure if this is only the case in the United States or if it’s been made unavailable for other countries, but knowing the game is essentially in a holding pattern with respect to development, I knew I’d run out of things to accomplish eventually. While there were a couple of holiday classes left for me to collect, and I never had a chance to blow my hoard of stamina cups, friendship essences and lucky coins, I am at peace with this and ready to move on with my life.
That said, since making my previous post I found that Rovio will actually fix your account if you’re stuck on the Arena award:
https://support.rovio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036162694-My-game-is-stuck-on-Arena-Season-reward
Dahnlor@dahnlorI got this screen today, and thanks for explaining what caused it (I had just reached the threshold where I would have earned a Challenger class, but no more classes were available). I had thought uninstalling and reinstalling the game might help, but turns out the Play Store doesn’t even have the game available anymore.
Since they discontinued development for the game over a year ago (leaving me with a bug where my Facebook friends no longer appear), I doubt that they will implement a fix. And even if they do have a fix of some sort through their support, I’d have to actually be able to reinstall the game, so looks like ended up being the final game-breaking bug for me.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI just came here to look up the same thing. While Rovio discontinued support for Epic over a year ago, it has remained playable, and I continued to play the game daily through until today.
I had just reached the 10,000 point threshold to unlock the last non-holiday special class in the current event (I’m still missing two of the Christmas hats), and then went on to complete the dailies in the arena. After completing two of the three tasks, the arena screen suddenly had a thick black field in the center, where the “disconnected” animation would appear, but this time it was just black and empty, leaving me with no option but to force-close the game.
I got the same thing after restarting the phone and clearing the cache, so I decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling. However, when I went to the Play Store to reinstall, the game was nowhere to be found. I found the game page doing a Google search on my computer, and there it told me that the game is not available in my country (!!).
Since I didn’t make a backup of the APK, it looks like my time with this game has come abruptly to an end. It’s been a good run, having been on my phone for almost exactly 5 years, and rarely would a day go by when I didn’t play, but I knew this day would come eventually…although I had expected the end would have been my own choice.
Dahnlor@dahnlorSame thing happened with me. The arena reliably crashes if I am logged in to Facebook when completing two daily tasks at the same time, so I logged out of Facebook when that couldn’t be avoided, and my friends list has remained empty since logging back in.
The support site suggests removing Epic from the Games section of your Facebook account, but when I signed back in after doing that the only permissions it requests are my name and profile picture. There is no option to share my friends list.
Also, when I click on Angry Birds Epic from the Games page, it gives me a “misconfigured app” error page. It looks like Epic got screwed up on Facebook somehow.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI had the Challenger Witch for a while and I did find it to work incorrectly, essentially the wrong bird would trigger the heal effect. I usually play Arena with the Elite Sea Dog, so this worked well for me since that was the bird that was getting the effect.
As @zhugeliang suggested, the recent update fixed this, and the Challenger Witch is now triggering her own heal effect.
However there is a lingering problem with whether the effect is active at all. If I play Matilda with a different class during a session before switching to the Challenger Witch, the effect will not work at all and I’d need to exit the game and return to restore it. Conversely, if I switch to another class after first playing with the Challenger Witch, the other class will continue to have the heal effect.
Dahnlor@dahnlorJust got the final Season Collection reward today, a Mythic Shroud. Turns out it was level 80, while the mythic emblems from the GPAM are level 82. Still, if I didn’t already have my Mythic Chrono Quest from before, I would not have been disappointed.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI haven’t seen the Watch-A-Video-To-Double-Your-Arena-Score thing since the 2.4 update. I’m pretty sure it was removed intentionally, and it’s a rather small loss. It wasn’t added very long ago (the twice-daily video option to double event scores has been around for a lot longer), and was worth far less than the daily bonuses. That said, it did give me an incentive to log in and grind arena points more often than I otherwise would have (not sure if that’s good or bad).
Dahnlor@dahnlorI’m in the same league with @poptimus this week, and he’s ruining everything!
Dahnlor@dahnlorThe return of the Golden Pig as proctor of the amphitheater to reward you for watching an ad is welcome, though it’s more akin to the the daily chest in the chronicle caves that has also gone the way of the dodo than it is to finding the golden pig in the wild. Giving us a timer at least lets me no longer have to remember when it was the last time I did that thing anymore.
However, it seems that the twice-daily arena bonus for watching an ad is no longer with us. Granted, doubling a single arena match only effectively replaced playing just one more match, but still you now have to grind 100 matches a day to get the same score as grinding only 98.
Dahnlor@dahnlorOMG the lag is GONE!!!
Dahnlor@dahnlorI couldn’t find that comment on the Facebook page, but I imagine that it would have been a response within one of the various comment threads so I could have missed it. Presuming that is correct, I’ve updated my comment earlier in this thread.
Dahnlor@dahnlor@winkwink My experience for the last few months has been that the Arena will reliably crash if I complete more than one daily objective in the same battle while logged in to Facebook. The game crashes immediately upon winning, before the wheel comes up, so I don’t get any extra points for the battle, but I get credit for the objectives and the bonus points associated with them. I’ve made it a habit to sign out of Facebook whenever it’s likely that the next fight will complete more than one daily objective, and otherwise I try to only complete one objective at a time.
That said, the game in general seems to be a little bit more prone to crashing when logged in to Facebook, particularly when it comes to Arena and event battles, but completing multiple daily objectives has been the only thing that I’ve been able to replicate.
Dahnlor@dahnlor@maxxmatt I very much doubt it. Chances are, once you reach 400,000 points, the last progress bar will be filled and it won’t even keep track of any points beyond that total. I’m pretty sure no one will get more than one Challenger class per season. At least it’s accessible as long as you can complete the daily objectives an can be earned regardless of which league you can get to.
Dahnlor@dahnlorRemaining ways to earn Lucky Coins (without spending actual money):
– Daily coin from calendar (must be logged in to Facebook). Implemented with current daily calendar rewards.
– Calendar reward on 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th reward collected during the month (5, 10, 20 and 30 coins, respectively). Implemented with current daily calendar rewards.
– First place reward for arena (scales with league). Implemented when league sizes were increased from 14 to 25.
– First place reward for events (15 for invasion and world boss, 25 for map events). Implemented when league sizes were increased from 14 to 25.
– Golden Pig Castle at end of map events (10 coins for defeating final boss pig, available after completing all other event map battles with a total of 55 stars). Implemented when league sized were increased from 14 to 25.
– Golden Pig map battles (daily or semi-daily, ended with introduction of Mighty Eagle’s Daily Punch Card, re-introduced with introduction of calendar rewards, disabled with 2.3.0 patch but we’ve been promised that it will return)
Discontinued was to earn free Lucky Coins:
– Golden Pig map battles (daily or semi-daily, ended with introduction of Mighty Eagle’s Daily Punch Card, re-introduced with introduction of calendar rewards, apparently ended again with 2.3.0 patch)– Mighty Eagle’s Daily Punch Card (daily Golden Pig battle worth 1 to 7 coins, increasing for each punch up to the 7th, +1 for Facebook login, completed punch card on 7th applied towards Dojo discounts, discontinued with introduction of calendar rewards)
– Chronicle Cave daily chest (receive 1 coin, 1 friendship essence, or 1 experience potion for watching video in cave, discontinued a few months ago)
The biggest loss was the daily punch card, which amounted to up to 35 coins a week, but that was also subject to an exploit that allowed some people to collect the daily reward multiple times a day, so it’s understandable why that was removed. The calendar system that replaced it, if you count the semi-daily golden pig battles, adds up to roughly three-quarters of the monthly take.
The addition of LC rewards for Arena and Events actually pushes the potential to more than before, but only one out of every 25 players gets to enjoy each of these rewards. Unsurprisingly, I’ve been finding arena and event leagues to be much more competitive than before.
Anyone remember something I’m missing above?
Dahnlor@dahnlorWas it significantly more than 5,500 points? It is certainly possible to complete all 3 daily objectives at once in a single battle.
Dahnlor@dahnlorLoad times definitely better, though still a bit laggy and jerky when doing certain things. Better apparent news is that it seems to actually be saving your progress consistently again – at least I haven’t lost any progress yet when a week ago it had become pretty much hopeless.
New arena looks neat, though seems we don’t get to have friendly unranked matches anymore, and the arena opponent remained the same even after I went back to the world map and ran the daily dungeon. Has anyone figured out another reliable way to reset your opponent without exiting and re-starting the game?
Dahnlor@dahnlorJudging from the comments on the Facebook page, lots of people are losing progress. Seems like a crapshoot at this point as to whether anything you do will still be there the next time you log in. Already lost my progress from two sessions today – lost arena points, dojo purchases and GPM spins.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI can think of how it might happen, but more details would be needed to tell whether this was happening in your case. What were the enemy birds? Was it just one rage attack or did the other two birds do their normal attacks as well?
I could see how a team with a Wizard with a +damage effect (like the Lightning set) and Sea Dog with the Finisher (the one with the hook) can do a ridiculous amount of damage when paired with the Mythic Comeback emblem. If a target has under 50% health, the Finisher set has a 65% chance to do well over 10,000 points of damage, which would be doubled by the Empowered Comeback effect. The Wizard’s rage attack could very possibly do 50% damage if all birds hit the banner and get critical hits, then Bomb’s Finisher doing the remaining damage.
That said, I’ve gone up against many teams with the Mythic Comeback emblem, and while I’ve taken some major damage by unfortunately-timed revives, I don’t think I’ve ever been wiped out in a single turn from a full banner, and I use a banner set with less than 50,000 points.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI had the same problem during the event. At least three times the game failed to save any of my progress, except for resetting timers for play-a-video bonuses. For example, in the waning minutes of the event, I played the Golden Pig Castle, after which I got the 5 stamina for playing a video, and had one last event battle. Then I went into the nest and arena, played a video on both GPMs, scrapped a few banner items, and then signed out of the game normally.
I logged back in shortly afterwards with about 10 minutes left in the event, and found that the 10 lucky coins from the Golden Pig Castle and points from the last event battle were gone. I was back at 15 stamina, though, and it allowed me to do the castle run again so I got the LC back, but after the run it did not prompt me to play a video for 5 stamina. Back in the nest and arena, the items I had scrapped were back, and both GPMs were indicating that a video was available to be played, but the option to play was grayed out and would not come up again until the requisite 12 hours passed.
Fortunately the GPM spins that I lost hadn’t resulted in set items, and the lost stamina didn’t make a difference in my event result, but still it was a bit perplexing to say the least and left me wondering if I had lost other progress that I hadn’t noticed.
Dahnlor@dahnlorAnd Rovio just started a sale so you can buy your missing elite classes, now that the legacy and even more-worthless “All-Star” classes are further diluting the odds of getting our last elite classes through events. Fortunately, while I still have four elites left to collect, none of them are among my most-used, so I’m saving my lucky coins.
Dahnlor@dahnlorThis was mentioned before but is worth mentioning again — the LAG!! It was mentioned by @suzyq that she has to wait 36 seconds for the map to load, well that’s what I get when using Blue Stacks – my regular phone (a Moto G4 Plus) takes more than a minute, and that’s every time I log in or return to the map from Arena, the Nest, or event map… just so I can log out! (Sure I can just force-quit, but that feels sloppy.)
Overall, since the latest few updates, the game performs as if my phone is throttling from serious overheating, even well before the temperature gets anywhere near that point. Even the dojo is frustratingly laggy.
Also, when at the screen before starting a fight, it’s impossible to select Red’s Avenger. I just tap on it and nothing happens. I can only select Avenger when in the nest or arena. (Then again, who would ever want to play with Avenger anyway? :) )
Dahnlor@dahnlorProbably related to the issue described in this thread: https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forums/topic/arena-season-12/
This happened to me as well, though I was lucky enough to land in a top 3 position after the last-minute leaderboard roulette .
Dahnlor@dahnlorAs mentioned a few times in the “2.1.1 is out!” thread, the loading balancing issue seems to fix itself after waiting for a bit.
I had it too, first when starting the game immediately after updating, then again after starting the game immediately after restarting the phone.
After restarting the phone again and waiting for a few minutes, it started up without a problem.
Of course, thanks to the message from Rovio Support quoted above, I also sent them a support request before restarting successfully. I have a feeling they might be getting a lot of those today.
Dahnlor@dahnlorSo last night I went and did the 5x rainbow riot until I got all of the bird equipment items I wanted, the last of which was completing the Dragon set on the 55th set item. D’oh. At least it’s nice that you don’t get any dupes when spinning consecutively.
So then I decided I’d have a few goes at the Arena machine for once, having already received the Valiant Tapestry since hitting level 80 I thought I might complete the upgraded set, since my Valiant Head was still level 60. Ended up getting it after burning about 300 coins, and only afterwards realized that it was the automatic set item for completing the rainbow bar, so it was barely better than a level 70 item thanks to still being in Stone League. D’oh.
So I finally went ahead and used the free Ancient Relict to see if I could get lucky with the free craft, whiffed on getting an ancient item and ended up with a dupe of something I already had. Having spent enough coins already, I did not re-spin, and checked the Arena relict to find that you only get to use EITHER once for free. D’oh.
Dahnlor@dahnlorI’m not exactly certain when it changed, but the castles are now all at fixed levels, and much lower than the max player level. To make sure it hasn’t changed with the latest update, I went to Wizpig Castle and beat it in one round for each wave.
My complaint with the level increases is that each time it happens I’m getting really close to maxing out the mastery for all of my birds, and looking forward to taking it easy on the game for the next few events. But NOOO, they have to go and raise the level and now I have to go balls-out to get as much mastery as I can YET AGAIN.
