    @mvnla2 Space 10-2 had a glitch where a gas canister could be made to self-trigger – sometimes for a 0-bird completion:

    Angry Birds Space Solar System Level 10-2 Walkthrough

    This was only in the initial release of the episode (2.2.0 version). The glitch was fixed in the 2.2.1 update.

    I seem to recall that other levels in Solar System had gas canisters where the same thing could happen in the 2.2.0 version, but level 10-2 is the only one I really looked into.

    If you want, I could go back to check. I have a backup of 2.2.0 for Android.

    @SweetP Wingman scores are a no-no for the ABN leader boards and the ABN Daily Challenge, but perfectly okay for winning in-game challenges that award Space Eagles & Power-Ups. That’s what @sglouk was writing about.

    @partshade You keep getting new events beyond the 360 points required to unlock Brass Hogs. You also keep getting Space Eagle and Power-Up rewards. I’m up to 659 points, collecting Space Eagles to play feather levels and unlock those last few sardine cans.

    BTW, this question was also answered on page 8 of this thread, but I can’t blame you for not spotting that ;-)

    @ben88 I also filled out your survey but I missed an opportunity to provide some comments.

    I also started playing Angry Birds a few years ago when you could buy a game for a few bucks. Back then, I considered Rovio’s games great fun and great value. If you liked their games, you could pay for more content (a different AB game or a ‘mission pack’ for AB Space.) Since then, however, Rovio has transitioned along with the rest of the industry to freemium where the initial download is free but they nickel and dime you in perpetuity and bombard you with advertising (skip the built-in waiting/ grinding or get better scores by paying for power-ups, bird-coins, gems, telepods, last-chance characters, whatever). For me, the turning point was AB Go!.

    I still play old Angry Birds games but I haven´t been a Rovio fan or customer in quite a while. I used to be, but I consider the brand tarnished now.

    Best wishes with your thesis!

    It seems that today’s 2.1.2 update also shuts the door on the option to fast-forward to locked levels. The self-destruction on 9-8 and 9-29 is still there. I can’t test if the glitch on level 9-30 (worth 110k points) is also still there.

    @Kathy I’m running Space 2.1.0 on Android Kit Kat. After I fail my last unlocked level (9-26) I get a level failed screen with four options

    * back to level menu
    * replay this level
    * double arrow, proceed to next level
    * share your gameplay

    This screen stays there until I make a choice, and the option to proceed to the next level – which is locked – works perfectly.

    It’s odd that this should work for me and a few other people (@Sglouk, @Waimea) and not for others.

    I don’t know if it makes any difference, but I’m paying on a Samsung Note 3 which is rooted, and I’ve blocked AB Space from connecting to the internet.

    @burpie

    And it works like a charm. This is what my selection screen looks like… the last 4 levels are 3-starred but still locked.

    For anyone who just wants to complete the episode in a hurry, here’s a tip that @Sglouk gave me.

    In the current Android version (I haven’t checked for iOS), after each level the complete/ fail screen displays an option with 2 arrows. By clicking on that, you progress to the next level. Whether it’s unlocked or not. You can then play that level (repeatedly) and even progress to the level after that. This doesn’t unlock those levels, but it does give you your points & stars.

    I used this method to play the last four levels of the game – where the challenge requirements become absolutely ridiculous.

    @burpie

    @stocktoad I didn’t mention what the secret method was. Because secret. I simply summarized how I use it to dance through the episode like Rudolf Nureyev on roller skates.

    P.S. Am I going insane or are you on your third avatar today?

    burpie
    @burpie

    @mikroll79 There are occasional 10-point challenges to improve on a level you previously 3-starred. Not a lot, but they’re there.

    Personally I became fed up with these challenges on day one of playing. I have to perform chores?! And I have to wait for my chores?! Um, Rovio, can I have a word with you out back, please? I’ve spent the last two days racing through dozens of challenges with @stocktoad’s method… playing various 2 & 3 pointers and rejecting all of the tedious and hard challenges (like those juicy 10-pointers… for me they’re not worth the effort).

    @amslimfordy
    This thread is a great initiative and i.m.o. Stocktoads’s formula 1 racing tip should be at the very top of the list. Unless some Russian hackers provided you with code to skip the challenges completely with a 70% chance that their hack blows up your phone, in which case THAT tip should go to the top of the list.

    @les-toreadors A great post, as always, and I agree that this would have been a suitable way to handle the PR. On a side note, what they did announce was better than nothing. At least PC/ Mac users know they needn’t expect anything anymore. On mobile platforms fans may still cling to a sliver of hope for new content… along with fans of Amazing Alex and The Croods.

    Here’s the idea

    Transferring your progress to bluestacks takes about an hour, starting from scratch. With bluestacks, however, I don’t think telepods will work. You could try genymotion instead:

    PC/Mac versions may be on the way out.

    @angryde The endearing quality of Keas tends to fade – just a bit – after you discover that their favorite food is the rubber door seal on your rental car ;-)

    @killerkea
    Funny coincidence, one time I used kmria as a handle. The “ri” part stood for “royal Irish”. It was a reference to James Joyce’s Ulysses but nobody got it. Eventually I got fed up with it and changed my nick to “OMG, I ♥ PONIES!!1”.

    Uhm, sorry about the off-topic comments. It won’t happen again!

    burpie
    @burpie

    Perhaps there’s a workaround. It looks like Genymotion can run Android versions of AB games on a PC or Mac for free and, unlike Bluestacks, with a working webcam for scanning in Telepods. I haven’t tested this myself (I don’t have a webcam or Telepods) but if anyone feels like tinkering for an hour or two…

    • Install Genymotion on a Mac/ PC: http://www.genymotion.com/
    • Connect to the Google Play Store. Click here for instructions.
    • Install AB games (If you can connect to the Play store to install stuff, you can probably also connect to the Play Store to purchase power-ups, gems and whatever else Rovio is selling.)
    • Test if the Angry Birds games run well. Can you steer in AB Go!, can you load Telepods, etc.

    If all of this works, it should also be possible to copy/ paste any progress from your mobile device into the Genymotion environment.

    @jkhab69 AB Go! represents a turning point in Rovio’s quest for cash. This was Rovio’s first proper freemium game. To unlock the characters in AB Go! you can either wait endlessly for birds to recharge OR you can pay. (Really? The birds are too tired to play unless you pay them?!) You can either replay hundreds of races to mine gold for required upgrades OR you can pay. More of the same when you get to the challenges. If you’re stuck, buy your way out! For a long time Rovio didn’t check if challenge objectives were even feasible (examples). The money-grab wasn’t exactly subtle and your observation that races become harder doesn’t surprise me at all.

    I suppose it’s possible to complete AB Go! and 2,000 challenges without paying Rovio a dime, but it would take a special kind of determination. I have no idea what a reasonable amount would be for 5 months worth of playing. A thousand bucks sounds excessive, and I can only hope that you got your money’s worth of entertainment.

    Personally, I wish Rovio the best but I refuse to support their new business model. When I started playing Angry Birds, I paid €0.75 for Angry Birds Space Premium and €0.80 for the extra Danger Zone episode. That was it, there were no extra costs or extra options for anything. Back then I actually thought that €0.80 for Danger Zone was a rip-off! Cut the Rope and other great games, same thing. Then Rovio introduced pay-to-use Mighty Eagles and Power-Ups in their old games. You didn’t need those features to keep competing for the leader boards, but the trend towards freemium was obvious. After AB Go!, Rovio messed up Star Wars ll with pay-to-use Character Swaps and Last Chance options. Same with Stella. Those things are required if you’re playing for the leader boards.

    From $2.00 for unlimited game play in 2012 to a whopping $200 per month in 2014. Yep, beware of what games you get into!

    @burpie

    @rat9 @hunnybunny @sglouk The elegant solution for Pig Dipper – if you’re going to petition for anything – is probably for Rovio to release a Space update that caps the S-15 score. Asking Apple to accommodate an arbitrary and insane score of 7 million points for any specific level is not desirable. It would just encourage people to game their own overall score with a spare tablet and the S-15 glitch.

    Step 1) Apple weed-whacks insane episode scores. Done.
    Step 2) Rovio corrects their mistake with S-15.
    Step 3) New, fair episode scores are uploaded to Game Center.

    burpie
    @burpie

    @Rat9 Apple should cap the score on S-15, just like ABN did and for the same reasons. Your score of 7 million points for level S-15 is just silly. Anything over 160k was obtained by waiting for a bug to rack up points – not by playing.

    Perhaps BirdLeader can send a quick note to Rovio and Rovio can forward it to Apple.

    burpie
    @burpie

    @jkhab69 If your episode score without the lighting bolt is about 3,252,000, you’re good. That’s the cumulative score without power-ups.

    burpie
    @burpie

    Great news. I hope they clean up the other scoreboards, too!

    I use Android so I can’t see Game Center scores, but I’ve always wondered how our scores here compare to the larger community of OSX users. It’s nice to know that the best players are all here :-)

    Apropos, congratulations on winning an Underdog badge yesterday!

    P.S. Does the AB Space leader board list @Rat9? That’ll tell us if insane S-15 scores disqualify users. (Rat also tops that chart with a whopping 7.6 million points.)

    @burpie

    I have no idea what you’re talking about (what is this Angry Birds Epic?) but Hot Veggie Cake sounds like a euphemism for quiche. Those things always infuriate me, too.

    @burpie

    Ah, sorry @thebrown, I misread your question and thought Rio wasn’t getting enough updates… you meant the other games.

    Let’s see what happens with Star Wars ll and Space. Both are scheduled to get a new episode in the next 8 days.

    burpie
    @burpie

    @thebrown PC is still very much in the picture. You have Blossom River, right? You’re up to date.

    Aside, I think it’s amazing that Rovio is still updating Rio at all. That game was launched over three years ago!

    @mvnla2 Ah, of course – the Android backup guide:

    How to Back Up Angry Birds Progress on Android (Rooted and Non-Rooted)

    Somehow I thought it was only applicable to the regular AB games but I suppose it should work just as well for Go! or any other app.

    @burpie

    @alcusto I thought @dbkraemer answered the question back on page 15:

    ABGo.!!! Challenges:!! How far you are.!!

    Personally I will never reach this challenge as I stopped playing AB Go! after about 3 weeks.

    Ragarding your question How to make a backup if you’re not already rooted. Ahm… there must be a way but I’m afraid I don’t know.

    burpie
    @burpie

    @alcusto it’s just a long way of saying “make a save-game”. It’s so obvious :-)
