    Battling Birds is a family-friendly, honest, hard-fighting clan that has room for a new member. We don’t have minimums for challenges but do ask everyone to use their free plays and study the tips for CvC. If you’ve been playing a while and just need a breather from the minimums come talk to us on our discord server.

    Rovio must be desperate for cash to risk alienating long time players in exchange for short term gains. They made their big money on the freemium model, converting casual “play if it’s free” gamers into “I’ll pay whatever it takes” die hars. They are calculating that losing the cheap players, the ones who never pay, has no downside. Now they have doubled down, calculating that they can afford to lose the Daily Gem Letter buyers. The only reason to buy the Gem Letter is to get th bonus feathers. But a thousand feathers don’t matter much when you get to where you need thirty or fifty thousand to level up a bird. By making the KPP a required DQ, they hope to pry some of the gems out of your hands. All it does is make me want to uninstall the game. It goes against the sense of fair play. Some people seem to argue that the game is supposed to be hard so it’s a challenge.  Hard is one thing, changing the ground rules is something else. Yeah, if you’ve got 800 FP and all the money in the world to pay for gems, you need a challenge. If you have other things to do with your time than play DC over and over, then it’s not a question of being entertained by a “challenge”. It takes too much time. Rovio obviously wants to push the players to convert more of them to paying customers who will blindly accept any challenge no matter what it costs in time or money. They came up with the Arena for this reason – players weren’t paying to complete map levels faster, so it’s a place for the more competitive ones to go for rewards at a higher cost to play. Must not be enough people doing it, because now they are trying to make the basic game more expensive to play. The only way they will stop is if the strategy fails. Rovio uses an A/B strategy to test. Some players get the harder games, the weaker birds, the KPP as DQ, the survivor pigs, the nerfed birds, the Arena opponents with 100 more FP, the impossible physics like floating blocks of wood. Then they calculate the results to see which group earned them more money. If they make an extra ten grand on paying players vs lose two grand by alienating casual players, what do you think they will do? They will continue to “optimize your game experience “ until the numbers show declining revenue from the cheating levels and start backing off on the difficulty. I’m obviously in the “see what they will stand for” test group and I’ve had it. The game just isn’t fun to play under these conditions. When skill doesn’t matter, when planning doesn’t matter, when all that matters is buying gems – it’s not fun. The fun isn’t in winning no matter what. The fun is in solving the puzzles and when the puzzle isn’t solvable – because it’s not a puzzle, it’s a revenue source – there is no fun. I said I wouldn’t do the Gem Letter any more, then they backed off on making me do KPP, and now it’s three times getting it as DC. I’m done with the letter. I encourage everyone to do the same. Boycott the Gem Letter until Rovio promises to play fair. That’s nine bucks a month they are getting, which is over a hundred dollars per player per year. So much for a “free” game!

    Your picks have nothing to do with anything. Rovio’s game programming calculates what reward you will get based on several factors including how committed you are. If you play a lot and pay for continues you will get harder levels and fewer rewards. The game then awards you that prize regardless of what card you pick. I have a copy of a message from a developer saying just that – they figured out how to display the card in such a way that it looks like you picked it, meaning they display the reward you are to be given on the face of the card you picked.

    1.  Level four with four birds

    2.  No and I tried a zillion time

    3.  The game consistently left me with a single indestructible pig that I could have got with any bird

    4.  None

    5. This one was not fun. Too many bizarre physics and survivor pigs and results that were just mean-spirited

    6. It felt like being set up to fail, or being held for ransom. The TOF was impossible, the levels were not fair. Pigs survived things they should not have survived, birds didn’t work against objects they should have worked on, Mathilda and Red and Silver often didn’t activate. It’s one thing to make a level hard by making it complex so you have to think and practice. It’s another thing to make a level hard by altering the mechanics of the game. If I pick the right bird and fling it in the right place, and Rovio says oh, you did that just right, too bad you can’t have it. It takes away all sense of skill being important and takes all the fun out of the game.

    Have you still got a copy of Rovios response saying they haven’t figured out a fix? Would you paste it here before it goes away?

    I heard back from someone at Rovio support. He said they had received many complaints about the DC boss being tougher than usual and had “asked the developers to look into it” and that they were sure they would get to the bottom of it. So at least they are hearing the complaints.

    This is what I sent Rovio today:

    I’m going to write whenever you do this…yesterday KPP was a required quest, and the DC boss pig was unkillable. I made the mistake of paying to continue but the pig qualities were radically changed. I hit him with Terence – he didn’t move. Hit him with Silver – no damage and he didn’t move. Blew Bomb up while he was lying against the side of the pig and it didn’t move. No bird caused even a bandaid’s worth of damage. That’s not normal. I get it that the difficulty level changes with increasing skill – but when I fail a level 10, 20, 30 and more times something isn’t right. I got strikes and two birdies in the levels leading up to the boss room and then I get this altered boss pig that is immune to damage and doesn’t move. So no KPP for me and no feathers. Since I only get the gem letter to be able to collect bonus feathers thus feels profoundly unfair to me. When the game feels unfair, it is no longer fun to play. It says that skill means nothing and that you have decided that I will not be allowed to win by dint of practice and skill – you are holding my goals hostage unless I pay a LOT of gems. Who wants to play an excessively rigged game that is not fun?

    GOt my hat back. Hope I can keep it this time!

    Didn’t catch that. They were all in the same email which was about Angry Birds 2 so I assumed that’s what they were for. I do use FB just to make it simple and to maybe swap presents but the process is only 99% error free, and the 1% problems are doozies.

    @krena

    No, the hat came back and went away again, and i have no idea about gems, feathers or pearls. Tower was so generous to me today. I found a different support contact page and submitted the hat screenshots. They will fix it eventually, I am sure. In the meantime, I got a Tribal Mask for Silver from the tower today which is the same multiplier, so it won’t hurt in the battles, just need it to eventually complete the set.

    I found this tutorial page that might help you out.

    Angry Birds Ultimate Backup Tutorial for all Platforms

    The update caused my tablet and phone to get out of synch. Opened a ticket. Ticket now gone. The games did synch but I lost a STEAMPUNK HAT, stars, and gems that I had collected playing on the phone. I prefer using the larger tablet but I don’t always have it with me. Glad I took screen shots of the discrepancies- if you play multiple platforms check your statuses

    Krena
    @krena

    Now the games just synchro up and my Steampunk hat, some stars and gems are gone on both platforms! I want my hat back please! Anybody else who did the latest update, check both platforms to make sure you don’t lose stuff!

    Breaking Beaks took me in! And with the support, advice, and archived video my FP is almost doubled. I’m the outlier – the vast, vast majority of players are way more powerful than I am. They all compete in all events, cheer each other on, reach out to quiet members, and have a discord chat server for off-game banter which is hilarious. Lots of obscure movie references, Monty Python jokes, Breaking Bad fandom from intelligent, clean-playing, family-friendly members. They rarely have openings – now is an exception – so if you are a good player and want to play, really compete, and win events check us out!

    Yes, you can back your iPad to a pc or Mac using iTunes. Then you can restore to that point. Make regular backups so you don’t lose too much data. If you get a new device, there are migration tools that should let you transfer the program.. but it might be worthwhile to get a Facebook account just to store your game status.

    @krena

    Yeah, that’s Rovio physics for you! Super balloons, indestructible piggies … keeps it interesting.

    @krena

    FYI – someone in my clan says that when structures collapse on their own you get the base points but not the bird multiplier. So if you’re fighting where points count, you have to decide…i figure a bird not used is a bird that can strike again, and will take the puny free points in most situations.

    @krena

    It happened to me before I set my age in my profile. There’s a minimum. That’s the only time I saw the message.

    Krena
    @krena

    Here’s a screenshot – tell me what kind of physics supports this? The tower didn’t even shiver when the left side of the base was blasted away. I read there were some recent upper-level personnel changes at Rovio, maybe some evil code got into the last update.

    Bad physics! Bad!

    Krena
    @krena

    Sorry, I was just whining … but after I whined, I did watch a broken-off T-shaped piece pick itself up and walk over to the edge to jump off, so the weirdness goes both ways.

    Krena
    @krena

    It just happened again. The last pig was on a platform atop wheels, and the platform was slowly but steadily creeping toward the edge of the shelf. Just when I was ready to cheer, the “you lose, pay 60gems” graphic appeared. That pig would have gone down for sure. I think Rovio just decided it wanted me to play that round again.

    If you play the arena, level 2 gives apples as a prize, and you can watch videos for free tickets. You can just keep playing the first couple levels which are easy, and collect the apples you need.
