    The simplest way I found to complete the Golden Cloud Castle without using a borrowed bird is with Paladin, Rainbird and Piggy McCool. Just have Paladin set devotion on whoever gets targeted by the Mother of Golden Pigs. Then wake up Paladin using Rainbird. Give Chilli to Paladin when it becomes available. No chilli cakes, no potions.

    If Paladin casts Devotion on the other birds, then all attacks directed at them will go to Paladin. It doesn’t matter that the Pirate Veteran is immune to buffs. The buff is applied to the birds, not the Pirate Veteran.

    I usually stick with Bard in the caves. She does good damage and with Paladin there is enough healing. I find Princesses ability to be annoying. But sometimes she is necessary.

    @smwforever45 Just so you and others are aware, Pigiana Jones is a good ally to bring against the Veteran Pirate boss (cave 8-10). The veteran pirate cannot counter an attack if that attack was itself caused by a counterattack. Confused?

    For example, if Pigiana Jones casts counter on Paladin, and the Veteran Pirate attacks Paladin. The Paladin will attack back – his counter attack. But the Veteran Pirate will not then counter with his own counter attack. There is no infinite loop of counter attack after counter attack.

    So with this cave boss, you can have Paladin cast his protection on both Bard (for example) and Pigiana. And Pigiana cast his counter buff on Paladin. All of the Veteran Pirates attacks will be directed at Paladin, and Paladin will counterattack.

    I can’t remember if this was the exact strategy I used for this cave, but it will work. I also can’t remember if it is best to use Bard or Princess.

    Also, there are a few of us who have completed all of the caves only using 2 of our own birds plus a Pig ally. It can be done. Some require patience. Some require lots of chilli cakes.

    Some combinations that are useful are Paladin, Bard (or Princess) and Pigiana Jones. Spies plus Wizard can be good. I like Tricksters (robot set) plus Rainbird (twin lightning) plus Piggy McCool. And Marksmen plus rainbird with either Prince Porky or Pigiana Jones (counter set on Marksmen works well vs Ninjas. The combinations with blues and yellow bird are great if you load up with chilli cakes.

    The Vengful emblem does not damage the banner. It hasn’t for a long time.
    The damage done is as described in KK’s list. 20% of the exploding birds health.

    The easiest way to see this is to visit Piggy McCool’s team. His bird team has the Vengeful emblem. If you do see this emblem causing damage to the banner, your game is probably bugged.

    Retaliate does damage to the banner.

    The other aspect of dealing with Lawrence using the Knight & Princess combo is that you will need both to have mastery ranks of around 5, so that Princess can heal enough. When I first completed this boss, I think I had an offhand item that reduced damage on red. It might have been the Steel Wall set item.

    I get exactly what grimmjow gets. I think a lot of us have exact the same bug. We can’t see the proper information for the Elite Knight.

    It may depend on OS. I am running on iOS.

    The second value is the extra bonuses from mastery rank, offhand items and weapon sets.

    The multiplier for mastery is (mastery level – 1). So if the class is rank 12, then the multiplier is 11.
    You multiply the base + weapon value by the mastery rank multiplier to get the second value.
    The second value also includes offhand items, so the 5%, 8%, or 10% etc. This is multiplied by the base + weapon value.

    I think

    Everyone seems to have short memories or are used to playing with Facebook friends.

    Of course Knight is useless in practically every battle. Especially in the arena. But When first going through the caves, you need Knight (and Princess) to get past the cave boss Lawrence. And the second Lawrence cave boss you meet later. Perhaps this was not an issue for most of you, but for those of us who only used the pig allies, Knight was invaluable.

    I agree the upgrade to Knight is pretty worthless. But this is not a completely useless class.

    @grimmjow The information is somewhere among the threads. This was worked out a long time ago, by dr_ismael among others. But escapes me for the moment.

    If you go to Red’s page on the nest, and press the small sword icon next to whatever class is showing, it will show you some information. I think there is a basic attack value (93 For level 50), plus the weapon bonus and the mastery rank bonus.

    I believe the 10% increase only applies to the basic attack value. But this should multiply up a little with the mastery rank bonus. There will be some other modifiers, such as the attack bonus from some offhand items.

    But the 10% increase has only a small effect overall.

    @datguygamer I did say that I don’t use my lvl 50 team in the arena. When the arena started, my birds did not have a high enough mastery level and I was missing a lot of the set items. The first couple seasons were difficult at the high levels. There was lots of competition and there were so many cheaters.

    My son just happened to have a newish game going at the time that I tried in the arena. He happened to have a single set item that helped a lot. It was a whole lot more fun playing in the arena at the lower level. I also started collecting set item data with another forum member. So I slowly built up my team and collected set items. The key for the arena was to gain mastery and collect up to date set items, while only slowly advancing exp levels. And I stuck with this team in the arena.

    My lvl 50 team, I just complete the caves and play the events.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    I have 2 EPIC games going. I don’t use my lvl 50 game in the arena. Just play the events and very slowly increasing mastery.

    For my lvl 24 game, which I use in the arena, the mastery ranks for all my birds is 9, except for Rogues, which is mastery rank 10 (don’t know why he got ahead). I basically pay for upgrades at the Dojo from my arena winnings, and get some mastery winnings from the events. But I do my best to not advance my exp level.

    There are a lot of low level teams (exp lvls from 18 to 26) who have mastery ranks of 12. These were obviously paid for through a lucky coin exploit or with real money. After the first few battles in the arena, I get strings of these types of opponents. But there are others who have low exp levels with mastery ranks of 7 to 9.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    I don’t know how relevant this is for those of you playing at level 50.

    I play in the arena with my level 24 team, with birds now at mastery level of 9. I would have thought the natural counter to the Valiant banner set is the venomous team (Rainbird with Reborn set, Rogues with Save me set, Druid with Sweet or Nightmare set) – equipped with Blessed banner set and the Rage Shield. I often also replace wither Rainbird or Druid with Paladin equipped with Protector’s Aura. I have had success with my level 24 team against teams equipped with the Valiant set.

    I am not sure how this works for those of you playing at level 50. Your approaches all appear to have been to power through the opponents. Knocking out opponent birds with poisons adds an extra turn to the time the opponent birds are knocked out. Hence the venomous team works against the bonus of the Valiant banner set.

    And for those wondering, battles at lower levels are equally as difficult as those at level 50. I get matched a long way up in terms of the exp levels of bird teams and even meet mastery 12 bird classes. But that doesn’t necessarily mean what I have seen at level 24 works at level 50. Have any of you tried this team against an opponent equipped with the Valiant banner set?

    I also find the venomous team is also the best counter to the resurrection emblem, which many of you have indicated the Valiant set is often equipped with.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @laxietoo It has been like that for ages. I don’t know which is correct. On my second game (for my low level arena team) I always try for position 7.

    @mvnla2
    The medal rewards wheel is different for the 3, 5 and 7 stamina battles. For the 7 stamina battle, there are 2 positions with 450 points, and the other values are higher. Since I don’t respin the result, I get a better chance at getting 450, plus the higher values for the other positions. I could probably get a better return if I played the 3 stamina battles and could respin the result with FE.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    The leader on my board has got 98,000 points, and I am sitting in second on 90,000 points. There were 4 of us fighting it out for the top 3 positions, but 2 have fallen behind.

    I have a ton of stamina drinks, but little FE. I have been pushing the leader and do wonder whether this person was burning stamina drinks and FE – or whether they had a LC cheat and were simply buying stamina as needed.

    I just play the 7 stamina battles and have used over 300 stamina drinks to stay in touch. But I imagine that for those with FE, it is better value to play the 3 stamina battles and re-spin the wheel. I really want to use a heap more stamina drinks, just to keep them honest. I would quite happily spend another 200 stamina drinks.

    @poptimus My set items and set banner items are all close to the best I can get at my level – everything that I use will be at levels 21-23 and the banner stuff is all diamond level. So the team is strong in the arena.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @poptimus

    I have a level 50 main team in EPIC, but I don’t use this in the arena.

    At the start of the first arena season I started a low level arena team (I think I started at level 11). Almost 1 year ago. I have managed to gain mastery levels while very slowly increasing my experience level. So my main arena birds are now at mastery 9, and the rest are at mastery 8 or 9. By only increasing exp level slowly, I have been able to maintain relatively up to date set items and banner items. So basically I have a tough low level (now level 24) arena team.

    I am not the only one. I come across a lot of low level teams with high mastery. There are also a lot of low level teams with mastery 12 (paid for with dollars or using a lucky coin exploit).

    I have only completed the island up to the start of the first cave – I just needed access to the Mighty Eagles Dojo. And I measure my effort in mastery events. Most of the mastery comes from using arena winnings to pay for upgrades at the Dojo.

    I have the same issue as you. The “new” banner does not show up for me. It was nice when you could see the calendar. That would at least remind you to check. But it was even better when the calendar automatically opened up when you started the app. This only occurs sometimes for me.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    This is actually not that big a deal for the venomous team (at least for me).

    I still use the venomous team. I use Druid mostly for the thorn attack, and Rainbird is used more often for cleansing and healing. And Matilda’s medicine works just fine. The only change I have made is to switch out the Nightmare set for the Sweet set.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    I don’t know what level everyone is at, but the amount of competition in your leaderboard will vary based on your level. My main game (lvl 50) only has players at lvl 50. So the top positions are competitive, with scores of >30,000. Players are obviously spending FE and stamina drinks.

    My lower lvl arena team (lvl 24) only has low level players (lvls 16-24) on the leaderboard. The top of this leaderboard is only in the region of 7,000 points. I am only playing to stay in the top 3 here as I don’t want to increase my level above 24.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @killerkea With regards to your comment about starting late on day 1. I still do this with my level 23 arena team, and it works most times (probably >70%). I think I have only had 3 competitive leaderboards this season.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @killerkea

    I haven’t had mine long enough to make a judgement. But I am sure the old GPM, which I still have on my lower level game (level 23), has a really low level of success.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @karfraz You have to knock down the banner using a “poison” attack.

    The damage from the poisons of Rogues, Druid and Rainbird are applied in the opponents turn. So the final damage to the banner must be caused by the “poison” damage, from any or all of these bird classes.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @angryjohnny I think this has become the catch all thread for those still playing the arena.

    @partshade
    I just modify my venom team to Capt’n with Sugar rush, Druid with Nightmare set and Rogues with Save Me. With the Blessed set of course. I don’t think those of us who use the venom team like to stray too far from it. I certainly don’t like to go for teams designed for all out attack. And like you I try to complete both attacks (take out three birds with a single attack) in the same battle.

    There are some opponent birds it is simply not safe to try this objective with, since you have to keep all three opponent birds alive for a couple turns. e.g. Rogues and Princess. I have also had stretches of opponents with the revive emblem on the banner – which you also have to avoid. So sometimes you just don’t get appropriate opponents among the easy ones you get at the start of the day.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @graugeist This is a very easy objective for those of us who use one of the venom teams. Do as angryde says, use mage in place of rainbird. Hopefully this won’t bother you in the future.

    And the other thing with this objective, I try to get all three knockouts within the same battle. Again, very easy to do with the venom team plus mage. You may have to adjust your battle strategy. The venom team is not about an “all out attack”. Using the venom team, with the Blessed set, it is very easy to keep your birds alive and in good health for the entire battle.

    I still find the objective “knock out three birds with one attack” to be the most difficult. It is so dependent on the opposition birds and banner. The other really difficult objectives are those that require you to use a specific bird.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @jim151 I tried one battle against the set without thinking – using Rainbird, Druid and Rogues. And it was 100% effective at stopping poison effects. Couldn’t get a single effect to hold.
