CDRGuy@cdrguyI’ve also noticed that the weapon blueprints are all reset on this cave as well.
Defeating the boss brings up a wheel with a treasure chest which doesn’t convert to the standard 10 snouts. The first time you get the treasure chest, there’s a weapon blueprint inside. After that, it’s 60 snouts. For those looking for a place to farm snouts, a 3/8 chance at 60 snouts means you should average 22.5 snouts for a battle that takes 1 or 2 attacks to complete. Pretty sweet.
CDRGuy@cdrguyI understand the need for a weighted coin toss, but this seems ridiculously complex and arbitrary. My E10 Lvl 52 items that I haven’t yet gotten replacements for are probably hosing my roll chances, even though I give up over 200 (15%) points on team power.
Since we have power rankings, wouldn’t something like taking the power ratio (your_power/opponent_power) and then applying it to a cumulative probability distribution get what they’re after? I’d say at 0.75 you should win every toss, and at 1.25 you should lose every time. If you want, you can add an adjustment for the golden chili.
CDRGuy@cdrguy@smwforever45 — The problem is not leveling up our birds. The problem is that all set items and banners are also linked to level, so we have to re-acquire all new sets, or be at a disadvantage. Even if the bonus is only 1%/level, with enchantment it adds up — level 60 with +10 would be 15% better than what we have now.
CDRGuy@cdrguyThe Valiant bug is horrid. Against tough groups, it’s nearly essential. Lose the flip, and you’re done. Just got KO’ed in 3 rounds (TH+Ballista went Crit on banner twice in first two rounds, then Chuck went rage in round 3). Just barely made my objectives, too, and they were relatively easy.
Why can’t Rovio/Chimera not mess with stuff that works. C’mon, this is almost as bad as when the squire pig animation didn’t work a few revs ago.
CDRGuy@cdrguyAnyone noticed the change in coin flip percentage? I used to win ~75%, but now I’m only winning ~25%. I had gone several days without losing with my main arena team, then lost twice in 5 fights after the update.
In general, the RNG’s feel a bit less friendly and more tilted to the opponent than usual. Just today, I got hit with 2 stuns from a 5% chance to stun top.
If the goal was to make the arena tougher, mission accomplished. It also makes it a lot less fun.
CDRGuy@cdrguyI’m in the TL camp myself. Haven’t used mana much in quite some time.
CDRGuy@cdrguyYeah, it takes a while. Definitely not for grinding. Also too many people use birds that dispel or are immune to effects for it to be generally effective.
It’s a special occasion group for certain objectives (use priestess, no chili, blues KO Matty, KO 10 birds), or for a change of pace. Definitely not my grinding team.
CDRGuy@cdrguyAnother use for her is what I call the rope-a-dope strategy in the arena.
Blessed set with priestess, rainbird, and rogues. Use cupcake trap on banner, keep everyone linked, and use rainbird to heal every turn. On alternate turns, snipe people with rogues. Great against power teams. Works great for the “defeat 10 birds per battle” and “no rage chili” objectives. Not so great against teams with dispel or mana set.
CDRGuy@cdrguyToday, I got something new…someone with -2 million points.
Of course I won (although, I was wondering if AB2 would have an unsigned vs. signed integer issue). However, since my winning ratio was negative, I earned exactly 0 stars for the attempt. And there went my free arena entry.
Watching his score, it looked like he had a way to make his score negative, as it would go very negative, then inch up as birds were flung.
CDRGuy@cdrguy@bubley —
Did your dojo allow you to level up TH? After getting him, I went right to the dojo, and the only offer is all of Blues for 15 LC. I’ve waited through an entire update cycle, and not snout offers yet. Just wondering if Rovio “fixed” this. Oh how I perish the thought of running TH all the way to M12. It took nearly 3 months to get Illusionist up to L12.
CDRGuy@cdrguyMy favorite for the no KO objective is Skulkers, Captain, Red of Choice. Hit banner with Skulkers, then use captain to buff red, and release the chili. >6k damage in the first strike. If you’ve got ballista or get lucky with the crits, you can go even higher. I usually use Save Me, as it causes the enemies to hit Captain first. This strategy also works well with the blessed set and Paladin to keep your birds alive.
If you’ve got to use Witch, have her buff Red before the rage attack to get +20%.
CDRGuy@cdrguyNo, I had all birds at Level 10, and then focused on Bomb/Blues to get them to 12. I hadn’t read all the posts in this thread, and assumed that having fewer LC class buys would increase the odds of getting snout updates for the remaining classes.
In the future, I’ll update the classes I use most, then try to even out the rest.
CDRGuy@cdrguy@mvnla2 —
The probability of a snout dojo upgrade is constant. When down to 2-3 classes I was still averaging 6 snout buys per cycle (just getting 2-3 per remaining class). My weekly average was constant over the entire process, and I got all blues/bomb classes to 12 before others.
When I did my big buy, I had 10 level 12 birds. and was down to 18 remaining classes (red, chuck, and Matilda).
CDRGuy@cdrguyI’m anal and kept track of my weekly progress. I was able to average about 20-25k/day while autoplaying SRC as much as possible. Towards the end, I upped my time, and was able get to 28k/day. These numbers are the average over a week (and tournaments were removed), so it may have been possible to go over 30k on a specific day, but you need to get lucky at the Dojo.
I also found that using LC’s to buy dojo advances to be the best use of LC’s to increase mastery. At one point, I had a spare 100 LC’s, and ended up buying 58k worth of mastery with it.
CDRGuy@cdrguyI’ve always had trouble with rainbird and autoplay. The autoplay uses a fixed atack/heal/heal sequence for him, and doesn’t reset when starting a stage, nor does it realize that all your birds are 100% health and stop healing.
As for set items, they usually help, but maybe not as much as you’d like. For instance, rainbird with the twin lightning isn’t as good as you might think, due to the low number of attacks he gets (the 23% health bonus is great, though). For SRC, the best set items do group damage (to get by stage 4) or dispel (to get by wizpig).
CDRGuy@cdrguyYou don’t say which league you’re in. As you move up, the reward per battle goes up, so getting higher scores is much easier. For instance, in Diamond league, the top spot is 175.
When I was striving for first in Diamond League, I’d regularly post >100k scores each week. Since you get 5.5k/day for objectives, 60k per week is only 3k/day. Yes, it amounts to a fair bit of time, about 1 hour per day (7 hours per week), but it can be done while doing other activities, as it doesn’t require that much brain power.
The values you show are definitely NOT cheating.
CDRGuy@cdrguyJust noticed this one. When using Illusionist+Stone Guard. Using Mirror Image on Stone guard messes up the attack values.
Example: Normally, Stone Guard does 2×550 damage. When opponent has an effect, Stone Guard jumps to 2×824 damage. Now, give him mirror image, and you would expect one attack at 2×824 plus a second attack at 2×412. Instead, I see 824/412/412/412. If the opponent doesn’t have an effect active, I see 550/275/275/275.
CDRGuy@cdrguy@ravinda-bulathgama — you realize that you’re playing a computer, right? Its strategy is to KO the lowest health bird it can. At the start, that’s Chuck, unless it realizes it can’t, in which case it will sometimes attack the banner.
CDRGuy@cdrguyOne fun arena trick with Priestess is to use the Blessed set with Rainbird and Rogues. Use Rogues to cast cupcake trap on the banner. Link everyone with Priestess (first link rainbird, then banner, then rogues), and use Rainbird to heal. When you can, use Rogues to pick off enemies. With the blessed set, Rainbird heals for something like 900/bird and 450 for the banner, so you heal something like 3k/turn (more with the honey pot). Avoid any teams with a dispel (captain, tricksters, lightning bird, phoenix set, ying/yang set, sling/plushies set, some banners). I love using this on power teams for the knock out 10 birds/battle objective.
You can use Witch+Berserker to do some heavy damage (buff banner or red with witch, then whirlwind). It can be used for the KO 3 birds with one attack goal. You can also use Witch for the KO 3 birds with one attack goal with Captain & Skulkers, while providing great banner healing.
Pirate works fine as a big hitter. No real strategy required.
CDRGuy@cdrguyChuck class: Magician
Attack: Deals 2xN damage to all enemies. Heals all birds by 10% of damage dealt.
Defense: Splits target bird into two each with half attack/health of existing bird. Lasts 3 turns. When split ends, health is sum of both birds, and all effects are applied. This one has a lot of innovative possibilities. Allows most birds to become effective against ninjas; can buff and attack on the same turn; get maximum 50% health loss from brute attack; for weak opponents, allows extra attack; use skulkers buff twice; etc. You get the idea.
CDRGuy@cdrguyGeneral Complaints
This game is too battery intense. Playing for 20 minutes will drain my iPhone5S by about 20%, and the phone back gets HOT. The game is not mobile friendly — it takes too much memory and battery. Besides, the levels are too long. I liked being able to complete an ABO level in 30-45 seconds. Now, it’s like 5 minutes (even more once I wait for it to boot up), which makes it less likely I’ll start playing.Other gripes: Level 319 — a little pig can get in an infinite loop of slime/launch, and then becomes almost impossible to pop (try popping a fast moving pig). I would wish that each landing did some damage so that the pigs would pop. I’ve also had the auto timeout be too fast — just as a structure collapsed on the last pig, I get the “Level Failed” box. Lastly, when zoomed out, tapping the screen often doesn’t work to activate bird abilities. I can’t count the number of times Matilda failed to drop her egg. Finally, like others have mentioned, a way is needed to move faster between episodes.
I’m not a fan of the auto-generated levels. Too much repetition. Furthermore, many levels are best beaten with a certain bird, and if your deck is wrong or you mis-hit a shot, you can be stuck.
CDRGuy@cdrguyLook for a power team to go against, without dispels (Samurai/Pirate/Spies is perfect). Avoid Captain/Tricksters, as they dispel the buffs.
Use thorns as your banner emblem, if you have it. Rogues uses cupcake trap on the banner. You can add the buff of Mage or Thunderbird if you like, but it doesn’t make much difference (except against Sea Dog). You should knock out everyone in about 2 turns.
You can wait until one opponent is left to minimize damage to your banner.
One of the easier objectives, overall.
CDRGuy@cdrguyToday, I got the “knock out 10 birds per battle” objective and went up against the witch. For that objective, I just allow the peripheral damage from the Dragon set to knock out the banner against a weak team, so I don’t have to count how many birds get knocked out. As such, I got hit by the witch many, many times. So many, in fact, that I actually disappeared (only health bar remained) and had to exit out of the arena battle, as it was impossible to grab the character in order to use it. Of course, when this happened, I was one hit away from winning the level and getting the objective :(
CDRGuy@cdrguyYeah, I can now blame Dr. Ken for blowing my Arena chances, too. 3 crashes in about 7 contests means no objectives for me.
CDRGuy@cdrguyAny guesses as to how long before this set is nerfed?
Way too powerful in the arena — it also nullifies many banner effects (such as chili block). It also nullifies all attack forcing, stuns, and the damage increases from Thunderbird/Skulkers. Pretty much, to go against this, you need a pure power team.
The set is too powerful in normal battles as well — no stuns, healing reductions, chili blocks, or other enemy effects. Toxic enemies are rendered powerless.
IMHO, 65% is just way too high of a probability. Something like 15% would be a good benefit, but not make it so powerful as to upset game balance.
I find it disheartening that Rovio/Chimera didn’t do more testing to see how unbalanced this set makes things.
