Team leveling strategy question.  My main team currently consists of 4-five star birds, and 1-four star bird, all at level 80, team strength is just over 20k.  Evolving these birds is going to take an obscene amount of evo materials.  Am I better to bite the bullet and save materials to evolve these birds, or should I work to level up the number 2-5 birds in each color group so that I can play the color dungeons on the hard or insane setting to gain significantly more materials per play?

Side Note, I just got the Fire Rooster, who I will be leveling up to replace the red four star bird in my primary team.

OK, I do not have any insight on this, as I generally sell or use to level up other birds as soon as I get any of them.  Being that they are primarily one or two star birds, I would not expect much benefit in playing them as a team.

Cheerleader Set?  I only have Core Flock, Ragin Rockers, and Flocksburg Eagles as available sets.

I updated today, and it reset my monthly gift calendar.  Tomorrow’s 30 LC reward sure would have been nice…

You have tried all the things I would suggest.  Only thing remaining would be to open a service ticket with Rovio.

The strength of opponents is driven by how far the player has progressed through the story levels.  I too got to the point where I was unable to complete my scout battles, or progress any further in the storyline.  At that point, I stopped playing all storyline battles, and took advantage of anything I could get to level up my birds.  I even cashed in all but my strongest five birds for more XP.  I now have a flock that can win “Hard” battles on quick play, and “Insane” ones when given the option of playing with a guest bird.  I do not plan on progressing again in the story until I can win “Insane” battles without help, at which time I will scoot a little farther down the road, maintaining a relative bird level to scout missions so that I can at least play on the “Hard” setting.

My current situation is that regular scout battles come up with pig power of 7,200, Hard is 10,000, and Insane is 12,000.  I stopped partially through the Ski Resort chapter.

That works within reason, but because the matchups are based on arena points that reset at the beginning of each week, once you reach Champions league, you will be facing teams with much stronger birds, who take a lot more damage than your birds can.

My Level 45 birds can usually beat any team up to level 50, and I have about a 50/50 shot at beating teams between 50 and 60, but when I face a team level 60+, there is simply no chance of winning.  We all have the same number of arena points because we all start each week with 2,000.  Game needs to do a better job of matching both arena points, and team power score +/- say 15% or so.

The other player may have used stored up berries, or spent gems to increase their number of scouts.  Thus is the fate of the Free to Play player in a Freemium game.

@e5c4p3artist – It definitely was nice to have you leading the way!  I assumed you had a short timer, but at least now I can help contribute to our overall success.

I have always had 60 minute scouts, but something odd occurred this morning.  I used all of my scouts up at 8:00 am, and when I logged on at 9:15 to use the next one, I had all three available.  My counter then said it would be an hour before the next one was again available.  I will see if I get just one.

I do not know how you are currently handling your gems, but if you wait until you accumulate 1,350 then use the 10x premium hatch, you not only effectively are getting one hatch for free, but are also guaranteed at least one 4 or 5 star bird.  Takes a while to save up the gems, but worth it in the long run, especially if you can time the use to coincide with an event that further increases your chances.

The evolution of birds is independent of the player level.  Birds level up individually as their powers are combined with those of other birds, then evolved at each 20 level increment with evolution materials.  These things have nothing to do with player level.

I do not think that anyone here knows the answer to your question for sure.  I suspect that they are available as premium egg hatches, but the likelihood of getting ANY five star bird is extremely low, much less one specific five star bird.

Very much agree that arena matchups need to be based on more than just arena points, especially since each week all players in Champions League are reset to the same number of arena points regardless of player’s team level.

Good question, I also see that pig power for normal, hard, and insane battles increases as my team power does.  Is there really any advantage to leveling up birds if it does not help you to win battles more easily?

This would also explain why different players are seeing varying amounts of evolution materials needed to upgrade birds.

Started this one late, but looks like that will be an advantage, as I will easily earn the 10,000 medals for the elite upgrade, and my team is not really doing much, so first place is in reach without using resources.  I suppose I might even consider spending SD, and possibly crafting some with FE if I have to in order to ensure a first place finish, as that is one way to convert those two resources into LC.  Currently sitting on >200 SD and >1,300FE so using a few shouldn’t hurt too bad.

My five star birds at level 20 require 450 colored gems.

I just started a few weeks ago when the game was released in the USA.  Guess I got lucky.

I got Captain Freedom and a four star bird on the Rovio Apology ticket.  Otherwise, just two and three star birds on premium tickets.  I did finally receive my awards for gathering the 250 drumsticks, and it appears that there is a 24 hr grace period to use tickets with the enhanced chance at premium birds.

The option to borrow birds is given on some quest levels.  The game will give you the option to choose one of two birds before starting the battle.  It is not an option that the player can activate outside of this scenario.

I received a five star bird from the daily reward at the end of the week before last.

at 1,500 event coins, the checkmark appears over the 50 drumsticks, but they are not added to your total.  Seems to be a glitch.

@sutekh137 – Keep up the good work!  One thing that I found, after I had maxxed out one full bird, was that the 75 for all option showed up more often than I would have expected it to on a purely random basis.  Approximately 80% of my dojo visits finished up with that as one of the three offers showing.  Far more than the 60% I was anticipating, which leads me to believe that the game replaces the 15LC for bird class X, where X is the completed bird with an additional 75 for all, but cannot show more than one of the 75 cards at any one time.  That said, I also saw some of my longer runs after the 75 for all card was one of the initial offerings, which reinforces my thoughts.  Again, I only got 100 visits with the one complete family to test, so this could all be small sample size bias, but my theory is as follows:

    • Player starts with a randomly shuffled deck of cards consisting of one snoutling offer per bird class available, one 15 LC offer per bird family, and one 75LC offer
    • Selected offers are replaced randomly within the deck, and for every card replaced, an additional LC card is also added to the deck
    • Identical offers cannot be displayed simultaneously, so if a duplicate offer is drawn, it is replaced randomly into the deck
    • As 15LC offers are no longer available due to the lack of available classes, they are replaced by 75LC offers.

I will need to test this theory in November when we get the next cap increase, but it supports (at least theoretically) the findings that @poptimus, yourself, and I have seen this go around, and supports the declining % of snout offers that @poptimus saw between the initial presentation, and replacement offers.  It also explains why I did not see dramatically longer runs as I got down to just two bird families remaining.  I would have expected runs to get much longer as there were only three LC offer types, and the likelihood of hitting all three LC offers quickly in a population where the snout offers were being replaced as selected seems to me to be quite low.  I should have had a 1 in 13 chance of the third space filling with an LC offer, yet my runs were never much longer than they were in the beginning.
