    Board populated, some have points, some do not. Still #1 though so not complaining.

    @jadedbacon

    It’s rare that we have a bug working in our favor, so I don’t mind the empty boards tbh. After the Valiant bug, Druid bug, some sets supposedly not available in the GPM, I think one bug working in our favor is alright. I’m sure we can all use some extra shards.

    Although I agree, if the arena doesn’t get fixed in the next patch, there really isn’t anything to do other than pointlessly farm Shards/LCs…

    C’mon Rovio, new island, new storyline, new pvp modes – do eeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

    @jadedbacon

    I’m running into the same thing @smwforever45 @angryde @poptimus and @bubbley are running into in terms of empty boards. Both last week and now this week. Really strange, but i’m not complaining :)

    Wouldn’t it be funny if the reason this is happening is because of the glitchy/missing season 6 trophy?

    I thought that getting any form of Bonus health (From the Banner) counted as healing? Because at the start of the match the birds get “healed” the increase in max health. I haven’t tried using Blessed or any form of Health increase recently while also having the “No heal birds” objective, so maybe it was a bug that was fixed.

    Whenever I used that Avenger build I also used Witch as a sort of safety net in case the battle went south. Unfortunately it’s one of those builds that requires synergy, timing and some luck to pull off, which makes it still harder to use than a simple Power or Power + Witch.

    Anyone else use that new “Cheaters” set? Is it any good, or (more appropriately) is it working as advertised?

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @napoleongl Lol, that is awesome. I tip my hat to you good sir.

    I love that Red is taking nearly 5k in thorns damage and just has this look of “wtf just happened…”

    Lately my biggest grievance in objectives is the “KO the banner withou KOing any birds” since all the sets I’ve enchanted have been AoE centric (Anything Chuck/Dragon/Scissors/Valiant) so I inadvertently KO an enemy bird. If anything goes wrong I either KO a bird or lose the match because I’m using un-enchanted sets.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Same here, empty board just me. Last time this happened to me my bracket got populated halfway through the week and I ended up being 8th or 9th. Had to grind like crazy to catch up. Hopefully we all just get a pass to stone, that’d be nice :D

    @jadedbacon

    I’m in the same boat, using Valiant because it’s the only set I have 10/10. This bug with Valiant is making me want to have a backup set though, just haven’t decided which one I’m going to enchant when I get more shards.

    @jadedbacon

    @dallasreds I think the confusion I had regarding this objective is that if it is supposed to be “KO 3 birds in 1 attack”… why isn’t it worded the exact same way as the 3000 objective with the same goal?

    Maybe it’s also a language difference, maybe the way it’s written in other languages is even less clear than it is for the English translation.

    Still think it’s bugged though.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Should be noted that based off of the fact that it’s worth less points than the “KO 3 birds in 1 attack” 2 times objective, this objective is more than likely bugged. People are thinking it’s SUPPOSED to be “KO 3 birds in 1 turn” 3 times, or “KO 3 birds in 1 turn 3 times” 3 times.

    Either way, yeah, reeeaally badly worded (and buggy, but really, what else could you expect from Rovio ;) )

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Yeah, there’s PvE, but that’s a complete non-issue at this point. Heck, I don’t even participate in the normal events since they offer me nothing.

    @smwforever45
    pretty much this. I’ve been thinking of ideas to breath some PVE life into this game, I tend to field them here to see if anyone would be interested. However I mostly don’t get any response, so maybe everyone is happy with PVE where it’s at?

    Ideally I’d love a new island to explore, with new baddies and some overarching story. It’s Angry Birds so of course it’ll be something along the lines of “Hey someone stole the eggs”, but throw around enough humor and some fun encounters and it’ll be a fun way to go for the next level cap. Maybe throw in a 6th bird and some new mechanics to make us tinker with new team compositions.

    Unfortunately I think the enchanting system (currently as it is) is kinda holding this kind of stuff back, because if you balance for the ones who have enchanted you alienate the non enchanted players. If you balance for non enchanted then the enchanted players can bypass any tactics and just brute force their way through. If the encounters scaled by the current power value like you see in arena, that might work. It’d be cool if enchanted provided more of a choice than just “hey here’s a 50% health/dmg boost”.

    And I’ve already written way more than I intended when I first started this post and I’m sure any regular reader is tired of seeing these lol xD. Sorry for the long response!

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @ryogokusama @metztli013 @angryjohnny So I didn’t see anyone mention this so I’m not sure if this is the issue you folks are seeing, but are any of you fighting Chuck with the Sonic/Reset set? Is that what could be resetting your birds from reviving? I’ve faced Sonic Chuck and had a bad streak of luck where I couldn’t revive period and lost lol (Why are so many people opposed to having these effects be a once per battle, I have no idea).

    No clue on the crashing, for the most part mine doesn’t crash much at all.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Since this objective is worth less points than the “KO 3 birds with 1 attack” objective, and you have to do it 3 times instead of 2 times, I’m guessing this objective is bugged. It sounds like it should be “KO 3 birds in 1 turn”, but it’s not working as intended.

    Sometimes you fix bugs, sometimes you make em – It happens

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    So I’m not sure I get how that “KO 3 birds for 3 turns” (or however the objective is worded) works. I had this one on the last day of the arena week and I couldn’t get any points toward it at all. Multiple times I KOed all my opponents in 1 turn, but it didn’t matter. 1 turn Chuck revived and was the only bird up on my team. I used Rage, all enemies KOed, knocked out the banner next turn – poof, nothing.

    What am I missing here?

    As I was writing this, something dawned on me… Is it that during a battle, 3 times I need to KO all the enemy birds in 1 turn and that pushes the objective 1 point? Meaning if I KO 3 birds during 1 turn 3 times during 1 battle, that counts as 1 point towards the objective being completed?

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    If they’re going to be making the objectives harder and harder they need to compensate in some way or else risk losing players. It’d be nicer if instead of an objective, it was more of a rule. You’d turn on “Play without Set items” and your birds would be stripped of any set items they had and given the highest non set items you have (the bird would be unusable if you didn’t have a weapon/offhand non set item) and you only fought opponents that also recently fought with that rule turned on (or computer generated if none were found).

    I understand that the objectives are supposed to take us out of our comfort zone and sometimes push us to the limit (and actually i like the challenge), but tacking that on with all of the other RNG factors + the only lose 3 times makes for times where you just McCool dodge until you get an easy opponent, which defeats the purpose of “pushing us to the limit” anyways. Guess what I’m saying is “I like the idea, but the implementation needs work”

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @datguygamer Hmmm, that’s a shame (Regarding the “No Set Items” objective) and I agree with @graugeist that it doesn’t make any sense from a business sense to have an objective like that. It’s not going to push people to upgrade any other sets and it in fact punishes people who have spent money on sets because those sets are now (temporarily) useless.

    Still glad I have a full stock of 3 Star equipment :D Also kept all the 0 star equipment as well, moreso so I could see just how big of a difference there is between the lowest and the highest point in gear for max level.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @angryjohnny Hmmm, weird. Why would Chucks count as a support. He’s literally making 3 birds attack. Maybe the game is counting it as a support because it’s like Lightning birds support?

    Good to know I can still use Red/Blues/Bomb

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @bubbley I did not try, I assumed I couldn’t. I know that if you use the Rage ability it doesn’t count, at least it didn’t count when I used it on Chuck.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    So the “Win without using Support abilities” objective is like a weird pseudo combination of “Don’t use Rage”/”Don’t heal banner/birds”. I say pseudo combinations because you can still heal with passive stuff like Hocus Pocus/Paladin/etc. Definitely a tougher objective as your opponent can use Rage and support and can still heal. To top it off you need to do it 5 times as opposed to 2-3 for the other named objectives.

    Barely pulled it off, I’ll have to rethink a few things and probably forgo the objective in favor of winning the match if things start to go downhill/lose the coin toss.

    I’m glad I started a collection of 3 Star equipment, so the “No sets” objective should be alright… wait, does the objective say “No Set Bonuses” or “No Set Items”? If “No Set Bonuses” you can still use your enchanted items with an offhand of a different set, so you don’t lose everything.

    If it’s “No Set Bonuses”, this is also Rovios way to nudge us into enchanting a second set for each bird/banner

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @suzyq yeah I believe that’s what it means, you can’t use any ability on your birds, attacks only (any heals or whatever else that comes from those attacks is fine I’d imagine). Biggest issue would be no heals from Matilda, although I guess I’d just play that objective the same as the “Don’t heal the Banner” objective.

    Honestly didn’t notice that Valiant doesn’t work, heh. I’d love to be a fly (bird) on the wall at Rovios QA department… just to see how bugs like this make it through the QA process… if it even exists at all.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @suzyq No problem. AoE means Area of Effect, commonly used when talking about an attack that hits multiple targets, like most of Chucks attacks, or Spies. This also applies to healing/support abilities like Matilda’s Rage ability, or stuff like the Frost Savages Frost Barrier.

    Procs refers to an effect triggering off of a %. Stuff like Chain Attack, Critical Strike, BedTime, Dragon’s Breath, Chronos, Ressurection. These are all abilities that have a % chance of triggering. When it triggers, people tend to call those ‘procs’

    Hope this helps!

    Good luck on your season and congrats on the new sets!

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @cosmo2503 Sweet Witch means the Witch class with the Honey set (set bonus called “Sweet”). It gives you a ton of survivability in Arena as the Witch is able to heal the Banner for 6-7k each turn. This will (most of the time) make you unkillable unless your opponent gets extremely lucky.

    Best sets to max out? Let’s start with the easiest: (I’ve bolded my personal selection)

    Banner:
    Emblems: Ressurection, Chronos, Vengeful, Retalliate (I don’t use it, but I see a lot of people using it)
    Valiant Set – Just get it, even with it nerfed it’s still really good
    The other sets are still viable if you run a composition that really synergizes with the banner set bonus.

    Red:
    Classes: Paladin/Samurai… maybe Stone Guard
    Dragonbreath – If you prefer to AoE your opponents
    Banner Breaker/Masamune – If you prefer/need strong single target damage against the banner
    Titan’s – Only if you want to run some kinda Stun setup with Matilda/Nightmare and Frost Savage

    Chuck:
    Classes: Wizard/Thunderbird… maybe Rainbird if you want to run Venomous
    Twin Lightning – If you prefer to AoE your opponents
    Sonic/Reset – Can prevent your opponents from reviving, I’ve been trying it for awhile and it doesn’t appear to work that often, but your mileage may vary
    Mana – Works wonders against any Venomous or any team with annoying negative effects like princess, frost savage, etc

    Matilda:
    Classes: Witch… maybe Druid if you want to run Venomous or Bard if you want to run a Stun setup, although personally if I wanted to run a stun setup I’d just keep the Witch and give her Doom/Nightmare, the healing is too good to pass up
    Honey/Sweet – Makes Matilda better at what she does best – Healing
    Forest – Only really useable if your opponent is also running Witch or some other strong healing effect
    Doom/Nightmare – Only really useable if your running a stun heavy group like Samurai/Titans and Frost Savage or using the Blues

    Bomb:
    Classes: Sea Dog/Captain… maybe Frost Savage if you want to run some stun setup
    Scissors – If you prefer to AoE your opponents
    Gladiators – Despite not being as strong as advertised, still 30% increased damage is nothing terrible
    Finishers – Can finish off the banner, although watch out if the target your hitting has any form of damage reduction, then the effect will not finish off the target

    Blues:
    Classes: Really… anything, they’re that good – My recommendation is Spies, if using Marksman you need to bring other classes that capitalize on the extra damage (Samurai, Stone Guard, etc)
    Beep Beep – If you prefer to AoE your opponents
    Artillery Strike – If you prefer strong single target damage
    Shadow Step – The 10% avoidance seems to be able to trigger off of an AoE attack that also hits Blues. If that happens, the whole attack is negated and none of your birds take damage. Should note though, any bonus damage (like Dragon, Twin Lightning) will still go through

    There’s talk that the Blues next set will provide a bonus to win the coin toss even if you lose it. The coin toss is one of my biggest gripes so that’s one I’ll keep an eye out for.

    No one likes the stuff they spent time/money nerfed. Probably be more fun if the weaker stuff got buffed/retweaked.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    @pointless no i think @bubbley did the math right. 96 out of 1006 is roughly less than 1%. I might start keeping track myself and see what results I get.

    EDIT: scratch my idiot math – Spent too long staring at scripts all day.

    Anyways, I’d like to track my TJ procs vs my opponents TJ procs over the next couple weeks and see what I get.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Oh I get how RNG works, been dealing with it for years. Part of the package when it comes to tabletop/card/turn based rpgs. My point is that when you have an effect so powerful that it can make or break a match, it becomes extremely hard to balance. You have moments where you feel helpless because RNG isn’t on your side, and completely awesome when it’s the opposite.

    I think the problem isn’t so much that it’s there, it’s just that you only have so many chances where RNG can go against you before you’re either unable to play anymore, or you have to fork out LCs, neither of which feels fair or fun. If the “3 strikes you’re out” style of losing wasn’t there for Arena, I’d be perfectly fine with the amount of RNG. I know the AI isn’t that bright, so the RNG gives it a chance to win.

    Jadedbacon
    @jadedbacon

    Ugh, I’ve been in the same boat (Opponents getting all the good procs, my birds getting almost none) and it’s frustrating, but what can you do. I still say it’d be nice if the RNG was toned down some. Not outright removal, but something to get rid of the swingy behavior. On the flipside, I’ve had times where I’ve had all the procs and my opponents none, either way makes for a real quick (and kinda boring) match.

    My favorite? Getting a Time Jump proc to happen either A: Not once during the whole match except when I deliver the winning blow or B: When the attack procs a Stun/Frozen effect, making it useless. It’s like the game saying “What? You want a TJ proc? Well here you go… enjoy! muwahahahahaha”
