@davdbroida  Some advice from someone who has played the game since launch and wished they had known. If you move ahead on the map too fast you will eventually be stuck for months, especially if you keep defeating pigs far above your team’s power level or paying to keep a battle going until you win.  You will also lose the ability to play on hard and insane modes which become extremely valuable during tournaments/events. Here is the advice I got from a Rovio rep: ALWAYS keep the power of your team above that of what is needed to battle on INSANE mode. You can see this when your scout finds a pig for you to battle by clicking on NORMAL, HARD, or INSANE.  If you team’s power falls below that of insane mode, stop playing the map until you get your team’s power above it again. While you are waiting, focus on playing events and leveling up your birds. If you don’t do this now, you will regret it.  I was stuck for over a MONTH because the pig on the map for me to defeat was 17,000+ and my team was 10,000ish.  With my team power now at 19,277 (and this is with three 5 star birds, two level 80 & one level 60 & two 4 star birds both over 80) I could take on that pig, but I still need 28,500 to fight on insane mode, so I’m staying put.  I wish I had known this before I got so far in a hole.

@miloskunda You need to hatch the gold egg to get 4-5 stars. You will get a free hatch every other day and you can win premium tickets out of chests to hatch the egg. The best way to GUARANTEE you get at least a 4 star is to hatch 10x premium hatch ticket. You can either buy it or it is normally offered as a prize during special bird events. If you want to purchase it, click on the gold egg and it will be on the far right. During special events, like the Bomb event that just ended, every time you hatch a premium ticket your chances of getting the featured bird, which is always a 5 star, go up. So I save up my premium hatch tickets for special bird events. Remember though, you can’t save up the free hatches, so use them as soon as their available.

Coming from AB2 also & having a lot of success with the Mountain, here are my strategies.

1) Take two pigs and quit if you don’t have enough in rewards to continue if you meet the 100 gem pig. You have to be willing to lose at least 50 gems or you’ll never get to the higher floors.  And you must remember that you haven’t really won anything until you exit the mountain, it’s banked. So you can’t count on gems you have banked to pay for a pig you meet. If you don’t have enough gems in your personal account to pay for the next pig either exit or be prepared to go straight to the store from the mountain and buy more gems or you will lose everything you’ve banked.

2) Dont drive yourself crazy over picking the wrong door. What you will get is already predetermined by the computer, so whether you picked door 1,2, 3, or 4, if the computer has “decided” you’re getting coins, you’re getting coins. The best strategy is to develop a method and stick to it.  You can fool the computer if you develop a pattern.

3) It’s gambling, so remember the odds are always on the house.  You have to know when to quit and yelling at Rovio doesn’t help.  If you exit early on several days you will eventually get a bigger haul. Remember they want you to spend as much as possible, so once you quit early the computer will try to give you more to make you stay longer the next time and bet on you losing your restraint.

I had a similar question re: Bomb… To anyone who has already evolved him at 60, which evolution did you choose (military vs cage) and are you happy or unhappy with it? Why or why not? Input appreciated!

I don’t know if you’ve tried this or not, but it’s what support told me & several of my clan to do . It worked for some & not others. I still usually get booted out when watching a video to renew a scout or get an additional turn in the arena, but it’s just a minor nuisance because I still have the option when I go back to the game and it always works the second time. So here was their advice: If you are on an android device you need to renew your Google id. Since I don’t have an android device, I don’t know how to tell you to do that if you don’t already know. If you’re on an iOS device, go to settings>privacy>advertising>reset advertising identifier and click on it to reset. Hope that helps!

@banchee. Whenever you have a quest, just tap on the icon with the yellow exclamation point over it located on the left of your screen underneath the Daily Tasks (calendar) icon. It tells you what you need for that quest. If you then tap on “Let’s Go,” it will make a orange scout marker flash. Go to that marker and you will get what you need/part of what you need for that quest. Just keep going back to that icon with the exclamation point until you get everything you need for that quest and it awards your coins.  As for the 5th team player slot, you just have to keep playing and increasing your power level until it unlocks. It doesn’t take long, especially if you play the arena.

I currently have two 5 star birds that are evolved once, two 4 stars that are evolved twice, and one 4 star evolved once. (I was lucky and got two 4 stars the very first day the game opened, plus I won the Red event {didn’t get Red though} and won the Captain Freedom event, where I did get lucky enough to get him, another 5 star, and three 4 stars.)  I agree with your strategy in part…it IS much faster and especially cheaper to level up a lesser bird and then use it to level up the higher star birds. However, I never bother with evolving the 1-2 stars, even if they’re shiny. . I use the 1-2 stars to level up the 3 stars (especially a 3 star shiny) and then use those for leveling the 4-5 stars.  It’s faster and doesn’t use up your evolution materials. I used two of my 4 stars to level up my 5 stars. It immediately took them to evolution level. It’s also important to remember that you need 5 birds of each color to play your dungeons, even if you have just one very powerful bird and the rest are 1 star unevolved, you just need enough power to unlock the dungeon.  This is another way to get more of what you need faster and cheaper.  Play the dungeons whenever you can.  You get multiple coins, gems, and more importantly the evolution materials. You only get a drab of evolution material in regular battles but you get a bunch from the dungeons. This means you HAVE to play the arena to get dungeon keys.  I see several people who don’t bother playing the arena, but without those keys from the arena, you can’t play the dungeons.  You get multiple free entries into the arena every hour. Plus the dungeons are a great way to keep playing and mining rewards when you’re out of scouts or you can’t move ahead until you get a more powerful team.  Hope wasn’t TMI. ?

I’m looking for players to join my clan “Badass Babes.”  I’m not looking for people who feel they have to rush through the game or spend a lot of money to get the biggest and best birds.  All I ask is that you have a full team of birds, play the game regularly (especially the arena/league), know HOW to play the game, and exchange gifts with fellow clan members.  I want people whose main objective is to have fun. I currently have people who still don’t have five birds, who never exchange gifts, who obviously don’t know how to play,  and who go multiple days/a week without playing, so I’m doing some house cleaning. Because of the lack of arena/league play by players other than myself, we are ranked like 60,000th. With all that being said, however, my clan STILL came in first in the Red event (I came in first) and we came in fifth in the Captain Freedom event (I came in third).  This is mainly because of three solid players, so imagine what we could accomplish  adding YOU!  I’m “Babe Feathers” in the game and again my clan is “Badass Babes.”  No, you don’t have to be female to join… ?

How do you unlock the 5th team position? I’ve evolved all but one bird on my team and it’s still not unlocked, yet I play against several players who have all five that have way lower level birds than I do. Help?

• Hey peeps, for those of you who are having “connection issues,” you might have already tried this but if not, this has worked for me every time: leave the app open but go to your settings and then WiFi. Switch your WiFi to someone else’s (even if it’s locked) and then switch it back to yours. Then go back to the app and hit “retry.”  I know it’s a pain, but it only takes a second and beats losing the battle/level and any spells or gems you’ve invested in it…at least until the update.  Also, I’m getting a few gifts every day which none of my friends has owned up to.., is anyone else? I think it might have been you a few times @triphOp (if so THANX) but was happening before we were friends.

@jo-ha  I have been unable to complete KPP since the update. I get to the third level and it freezes up every time.  Yesterday I was able to retry it an additional two times within the hour time period allowed and the screen froze on the third level all three times. I’m not going to waste any more spells or gems on it. It’s a shame because I love that they aren’t the same old overused KPP levels as before.  Hopefully it gets fixed with the update also.

You know it’s REALLY sad because the latest updates came with some great features. I love the Tower and the Bonuses, but THAT update came with the inability to connect and play the arena for a week. Now this update brought the new Feats option, which I also love, and appears to have more fair arena play, but THIS update came with the inability to connect to friends and a ton of crash/freeze issues.  You would think Rovio would have a way to test these updates and debug them first. They are shooting themselves in the foot by releasing updates with such major issues! By the time the issues are resolved, everyone is so pissed they couldn’t care less about the great new features. And I don’t understand why they put out such ambiguous posts on their Facebook page! “We’ve located the problem and it will be fixed with the next update.” Well when is the NEXT update?! Do we have to wait for 2-3 months like between the last one and this one?!  It’s like pulling fingernails to get info!

@jon3800 See my plea for help above plus several other people have complained of having the same issue. I went to the AB2 Facebook page and everyone is complaining about it under their post about the new update. I JUST sent a request through Rovio’s support page for information on how to fix this and asking that they please read comments on their own post to see this is a widespread issue. So far I haven’t had anyone who I know who plays that isn’t experiencing the problem or was and has figured out how to fix it.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get my friends back?? I depend on gift exchange for gems. The people are still my Facebook friends and are still playing the game. I did the “invite” thing, but if we are already friends and they are already playing, what am I “inviting” them to do? I have gotten invites from people I’m already friends with too and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do when I get one. Please HELP!

I just posted a bitchfest about it and then the last couple days it’s actually been so much easier to be able to predict what you need going against an opponent (no spells vs. what/how many spells) and my opponents have been very evenly matched! Fingers crossed it isn’t a temporary glitch!

@cognitive THANK YOU!! I appreciate that everyone is trying to be helpful with their advice/tips on how to play and I’m sure they will help others. Maybe I worded my comments incorrectly, because I really wasn’t looking for tips on how to win in the arena…I really do know how to play. I was trying to make the point that since Our Lady is now gone and my spells are swiftly depleting, and I don’t/can’t pay for spells, it is even more important to be able to determine the least number of spells I need to play each battle (I can’t afford to go into EVERY battle with three spells) and there doesn’t APPEAR to be any rhyme or reason to the formula for doing so since the last update. Previously I had a formula and RARELY misjudged this. I didn’t suddenly become an inexperienced or bad player. The arena has changed and if people would go back through the comments’ thread, they’ll find I’m FAR from the only one who has noticed this.

@yue-zhang I know that there are thousands of players FAR more skillful than I am. I don’t expect to win every match. You missed the entire point. Before the update I could judge my opponent and what I needed to use to beat them. Now there is no consistency in the level/skill of the opponent and the score they get during a match. If you have been keeping up with this feed, there are MULTIPLE complaints about this same issue, some from players I know have maxed out their bird levels, played every level, and have hundreds of gold medals. IMO the arena has been weighted so that you can very seldom complete a run without using gems.

After this latest update, there is no rhyme or reason to the arena anymore. I was a pretty good player who rarely lost a battle and had several metals from winning leagues. I could at least judge when & what spells to use the majority of the time. Now I can be pitted against someone 30 flock points below me and still lose even if I use all five spells AND the extra video bird. Or I’ll be pitted against someone with birds 5 levels above mine so I’ll use all 5 spells and it makes it “appear” I’ve wasted them. I only play now to try to level up my birds, but it’s impossible to complete a run of 7 without using constant spells and STILL needing to use gems to buy extra birds. On top of that, they’ve made KPP almost impossible to win without using gems on at least one area most days. And while I’m bitching, making the regular levels harder to complete the more you upgrade your slingshot/birds is ridiculous! I might get double the score I would have previously, but take multiple tries to get through a level!

Jon S, I’m confused by your response. So I should have never bought any hats until my birds were at the maximum card level? That doesn’t seem feasible. I haven’t bought the new work hats yet, but I’ve won 3 and I thought having the X1 & x2 hats was just base level play. I have all the pirate hats and I am only one short of the knight set, not because I bought them, I won them, so my slingshot automatically upgraded. I currently have all level 42 or 43 cards and have all pirate hats. So I should not complete the work hat set or the knight hat set until my cards are at the max level?? Sorry if I’m being dense.

@anpa No, there isn’t anything special for being in a Diamond League…just the same 300 gems & 300 pearls. And there are multiple different Diamond Leagues (they only put 15 players to a league), so it depends on which one you land in that week whether or not you might consider it “worth it.” Some of these players play all day, every day and the top player may have 10,000 stars by the end of the week. Other times you get in a ghost league where no one is playing much. The arena prizes have never made much sense to me. You can get the same thing playing just 3 days of KPP and don’t have to spend the time and spells. The only reason really worth playing for me is for feathers to level up my birds. I wish they would give a better reward and also make it more balanced…put the players who rack up the huge scores in a league TOGETHER. Hope my two cents helps! I’m “Babe Screamer” in my league if you want to look for me.

@jo-ha for clearing that up! As far as upgrading the slingshot, I’m at a loss at what to do and when your birds have reached a high enough level to upgrade again. I have enough pearls to buy a couple more sets, but ever since upgraded this last time I’m consistently paired with players with much higher flock power. I have all my birds at level 42 and was doing really well in the arena until the new hats came out and thought I should at least get the Easter set, which upgraded my slingshot to Elder Amethyst (x13). Does anyone have any guidelines for what level your birds should be at for which slingshot? I can barely get my feathers to try to level up my birds more and increase my flock power. I don’t know whether this is the most used slingshot and I should go up another or if I should just stay as is. I have to say in all the time I’ve been playing this is the most uneven I’ve seen the arena battles and it appears that everyone is complaining about it since the update. I read complaints from people that they are consistently paired against those way below them. Thoughts?

@jo-ha Lol. My roots ARE blonde. It shows me the ticket count AFTER I’ve played the game and then adds one. However, it might not have already deducted the ticket for playing that game. I’ll have to check it BEFORE I play the round next time. I guess this is what I get for being a smartass about the pearls. ?

@desperados I’ve started writing down my total pearl amounts every time they change to check this. It’s true the animation of having the pearls added on the DC is gone, however, the last several times I’ve checked the pearls HAVE been added. Had a gift exchange friend who also thought they weren’t being added because of the animation, but when he wrote them down before starting the DC, his were added also despite the animation. I’d write them down and check.

Twice now when I’ve won the level to get TWO tickets in the arena, I’ve only gotten ONE. It could have happened more, but I didn’t notice. Has anyone else experienced this?
