    I deleted my app today after 3 days worth of frustration in the arena.

    Here was my experience today:

    first time in the arena I had double the score of my opponent when the app went dark. My battery was full power and wifi was working. The app re-started but no credit for the arena and no free entry.

    I watched the video to gain free entry. But the video that popped up was the one that always freezes the game on the app. So again no credit, but now I have lost the ability to play the arena for free.

    Much later in the day I played again. Leading by 400,000 points on the last bird with a gray opponent, who magically gets three bomb birds in a row to take a lead of 10,000 points. I play the video to get a free bird, and again the video freezes the app.

    Re-started the app and tried to play a video for free entry into the arena. Again the video froze the app.

    I could in theory email Rovio. But I frankly don’t care that much. So I deleted the app. It was a little bit fun but mostly just frustrating. I got very tired of watching commercials.

    @platium – for closely miss, flying over the obstacles counts. So be very, very precise for the first half of the course, then use King Pig over the second half.

    I think I had 10 or 11 close misses before deploying King Pig.

    I deleted my app, and am done with the game. Good luck!

    @ABGOFast. Thanks for the follow up. I wanted to make sure you weren’t holding out info on some secret gem treasure trove. :)

    As Lance Armstrong learned in the Alps around 20 years ago, if you are surrounded by very good riders who are taking PEDs or PEGs, you cannot compete without doing the same. Your investment seems like a wise one – 1200 gems is 16-24 DAYS of gem farming. A devastating blow to other riders unless they want to drop $100 U.S. for 6500 gems to make the end around.

    Don’t know if anyone has seen Rovio’s earnings releases, but they have admitted that they haven’t been very good at playing the IAP game. Clash of Clans and now the Kim Kardashian game, of all things, are destroying them in the market. (I think it was Jimmy Kimmel who said: if you are sitting on your couch doing nothing, aren’t you already playing the Kim K game? But I digress.)

    Rovio first admitted their earnings were poor in April, which I think was around the time they started trying to be more aggressive/cheap with gem distribution (1 gem vs. 3 for completing challenges). To me, it is not worth investing in the game because the last few upgrades have been poor:

    *Weekly tournament awards prizes randomly vs. on merit – lame
    *Multiplayer is a joke – Seedway and Rocky road are way too easy, the other levels have racers with power ups, the system crashes as I cross the finish line
    *Sub zero has been a disappointment from the error-ridden challenges (splat fruit! Use boost pads!) to the un-imaginative challenges (use King Sling 7 times and all Power Ups 3 times!) to the ridiculous track 3 featuring opponents who re-spawn 25% of the way forward on the track.

    @alcusto. It’s been a while since I passed that challenge but in my experience the “splat x fruit in a row without steering” challenges are a bit buggy. I think my solution to that was to trick the counter into staying onscreen by pausing and re-starting the game every few seconds.

    @ABGOFAST
    . Congratulations! 30 challenges in 24 hours is an amazing accomplishment! That is 3 “use all PU’s 3 times” and 6 “use King Sling 7x” for a whopping price of 696 gems! I see a gem roughly every third race. How in the world are you harvesting that many gems? And once you get past challenge 50 or so, do you see any variety to the challenges? I didn’t once I got past the 5 kart/more time drifting sequence.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @alcusto so happy to hear it! Yes, being sneaky sometimes requires patience, but it sure beats giving them your hard-earned cash!

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @alcusto yes to both of your questions. My devices are an iPad and an iPhone. I am not awarded the weekly challenge prize until I open the weekly challenge. Maybe the functionality is different on an Android.

    And @wazemank your trick was the inspiration for me to try this.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    I have retired from ABGO, but here is a tip regarding the weekly challenge.

    The reward is definitely random and can be manipulated if you have ABGO on two devices. I unfortunately just figured this out last week. Here is how you do it:

    1. After the challenge has finished for the week, open the game on one device and close it.
    2. Open the game on the other device, select “cloud”, and close it.
    3. Go back to device #1. You will always use this device to open your prize. Open the game and select “cloud”. Open the prize. If it is a kart you like, congratulations. If not, close the game and open device #2.
    4. Open the game on device #2. Select “device”, NOT “cloud”. You are resetting the cloud to get a new prize. Close the game on device #2.
    5. Repeat steps #3 and #4 as often as needed until you get the kart you want. Never open the prize with device #2. Also, do not let too much time lapse between opening a prize and resetting the cloud, or it will reset for you.

    Last week I did this about 15 times, declining about 10 sets of 20 gems, plus some karts I did not want, until I finally “won” my 4th SubZero kart.

    @pba2014

    Time for me to hang up the racing gloves.

    With the update, I had 11 challenges disappear and convert to easier challenges. Much easier, in fact, as if I was going back to the beginning. For all 11 of those challenges, once I cleared two easy sets of challenges, the third set included an old favorite, “beat a friends score”. I have a very limited presence on Facebook, and none of my friends have updated Angry Birds, so these challenges are impossible to me. And, there are no new or fun challenges.

    Further, the multiplayer seems lame (as it is not real time…I am not even sure what it is). Every 4th multiplayer race or so, ABGO freezes up just as I cross the finish line. So I get no credit for winning…but I lose the cupcake.

    My final tally:

    1236 challenges

    215 / 285 / 214/ 282 / 240

    I ended up clearing 40 “5 kart” challenges without 5 karts through very patient kart upgrades. I was about to clear most of the Air 5 kart challenges, but Rovio just changed the challenges for 3 of the 6 tracks, and increased the price of the L1 kart I need to complete the challenges from 600 to 1200 gems. I could probably get that kart for free (see the weekly challenge thread for how to manipulate your prize) but I have lost my patience.

    On subzero ice splat, here is the challenge progression:

    #15 5 karts – wtf why so early?
    #17 use king sling 7 times in a row AND use all power ups in 3 races – wtf both?
    #19 5 karts – wtf again, so soon?
    #21 use king sling 7 times in a row AND use all power ups in 3 races – ok, Rovio, you can’t come up with any real challenges here, I get it.

    @pba2014

    @angryde. Time for you to break down, mate, and cash in 600 of those gems for a SubZero kart!

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @abgofast

    Congrats on 1300!

    @alcusto

    Thank you for the kind words. It’s tough sledding, especially when you only have two karts on a track with no extras.

    Made it to 1155 challenges:

    195 / 281 / 202 / 274 / 203

    Happy to get over the 200 mark in SubZero.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    I cleared 1102 challenges:

    Seedway 195
    Rocky Road 280
    Air 201 (yeah!)
    Stunt 274
    Sub Zero 152

    I have now cleared 30 “5 kart” challenges. I need an Air kart in the worst way.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @nacho18

    Congrats on the big milestone!

    I hit 1006 challenges:

    195 / 280 / 189 / 262 / 80

    No IAPs or Telepods, ever!

    I have passed the “5 kart challenge” for all levels of Seedway, Rocky Road and I could for Stunt, but waiting before the final upgrade. This without actually having 5 karts. Next up, I have almost enough gems to get a third kart in SubZero. I will finally open the 3rd track there.

    If you want my advice on karts, check out the thread I started quite a while ago. Don’t upgrade them. Period! Until you get to all 3 “5 kart challenges” for that track.

    Happy driving!

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    I feel a little guilty reporting this, but after being kicked in the gut two weeks in a row, I got a Rocky Road kart. So now I have 4 Rocky Road karts, and one of them is an L3. Let my assault on the 5 kart challenges continue…

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    I made it to 900 challenges:

    191 / 229 / 171 / 262 / 47

    I have not used IAPs or Telepods.

    The new Facebook is killing me – on SubZero I am stuck on “beat a friend” on 4 levels. I need to invent an imaginary Facebook friend.

    My next goal is to complete the “5 kart challenge” at least once on every track…without 5 karts. So to do this I need to continue to be very slow to upgrade karts. I haven’t even opened subzero track 3 because I would need to upgrade to an L3, and that would eventually make it impossible to beat all the 5 kart challenges without buying multiple karts.

    So far I have completed 12 “5 kart” challenges.

    Happy racing!

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @angryde

    I am right with you, my friend. 24 challenges I am in limbo waiting for a kart:

    6 in Rocky Road (the other 3 are gem grabbers right before the 5 kart, so no sense in completing yet)
    5 in Air
    5 in Stunt
    8 in Sub Zero

    I am at 183 gems, which puts me roughly 21 days out from buying one of the ten karts I need to pass those challenges. That is, if I can resist the urge to buy any power ups.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @wazemank

    Regarding your challenges:

    Use king pig to “closely miss” obstacles. Not sure why it works, but it does.

    Rocky road 35% of fruit is impossible on track 1 but possible on tracks 2 and 3. Get the fruit bar down to almost nothing, drive carefully into the middle do a group of fruit, and deploy the bomb.

    Air score 135,000 points: Rovio gave that one to me. I tried it a few times, failed, left, came back and the challenge had changed to an easier one. It happened to others as well, check back several pages.

    Collect zero coins: very hard but passable. Let the other karts complete the course so they won’t bump you into coins. Memorize the course and drive as slowly as you can. Hug the walls except where there are coins on that side of the course.

    Stunt track 3 avoid first 40 obstacles: also crazy hard but passable. Get through the first obstacle and get right. Slam the wall a few times to slow down and bypass around the first 15 obstacles. With your lower speed the next ten should be easy to miss. There is an abyss with an ice obstacle on the other side. Crash into the abyss. You will respawn and go through the ice obstacle, but because you are still respawning, it will not count. Keep your speed low and the last few obstacles are easier.

    Good luck!

    @pba2014

    @angryde

    At this rate you will soon have all the Seedway karts, so you can’t earn another. So some people get karts, others gems. Is the reward random?

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    First place, 738,000 points, 20 gems. Very disappointing as I need new karts to progress on every track but Seedway…

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @dbkraemer

    @wazemank

    Congrats on hitting 800! I am with you in the second tier of drivers (obsessed, but mortals) behind @abgofast, @philhayler, and @platium. :)

    I am at 843 challenges. 191/229/142/253/28.

    I still have not passed “beat a friend” on subzero splat #3. Other than that and one other TIC, i am stuck on either huge gem challenges or ones that require another kart. Hoping like crazy that the weekly challenge will bring me a new kart on any track other than Seedway…

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @alcusto

    No, I have not been able to solve that one. In my experience the TICs involving a percentage of fruit are:

    Rocky Road, Track 1, 35%
    Stunt, Track 2, 35%

    I have been able to pass all others up to 35% in Stunt, Seedway, and Rocky Road except for Rocky Road Track 2 35% (stuck on gem hungry levels there, so have not tried it yet).

    The only other Fruit Splat challenge that I see as TIC is Air, Track 2, #27 ram 3 opponents. There are only 2 opponents, and you do not get credit for hitting one twice.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @grimmjow

    Track 3 rocky road splat 35% of fruit is not TIC, just difficult. It can be defeated with the bomb at just the right time.

    For splat 15 fruit in a single drift, use Hal and deploy him right before the finish while drifting. You will need to skip lots of fruit to ensure there is enough fruit still available (not coins).

    @angryde

    Thanks to you for suggesting I sign out of FB and back in! I finally received a kart from last week’s challenge. Since I don’t buy karts, that is huge.

    Upgrading remaining karts very slowly. Have not opened subzero track 2 yet because I will not upgrade my L1 karts until I get to the 5 kart challenge, and I can’t get there until I pass the 3 kart challenge (which requires buying another kart). So saving gems for a new kart.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    Grrrr. So because of FB issuers, I get nothing. Thanks Rovio! Great tournament!

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    @cosmo2503

    How many points did you have? I had 739,000, which I thought was a good score, and got nothing from the tournament.

    PBA2014
    @pba2014

    I had better hurry up and say this… 222 levels on Rocky Road (and have actually been there for about a month).

    That is with no IAPs or Telepods. Stuck in most cases on win with 5 karts.
