So there was an update to AB2 windows version and a pop up message saying a new arena was available.  Unable to access it, says “something went wrong” but I am guessing that the windows version has the same arena as the apple/android arena?  Since the arena goes Sunday to Sunday again my guess is that it won’t be accessible until next Sunday?

I figured that they would change the arena eventually, was holding out hope they wouldn’t.  Guess that makes all versions the same?

Today, Wednesday, started seeing/collecting apples again but still unable to access the Weekly Challenge and Clan Event.

Sent an email to Rovio before posting here a couple days ago and still haven’t received a reply.

The Daily Challenge the past several days have been impossible to complete.

I see in my Microsoft Store that there was an update to AB2 on 12/12.  I wonder if that update had anything to do with this?

My two cents:

I don’t agree that Rovio abandoned AB2 but they screwed it up last year with the update that changed the Arena.  I hate (strong word but accurate) the non-window version of AB2.  But I still play it because IMO it is the better of all the AB games and I have to much time invested in it to stop.  I do play it less then I used to before the update.  I usually play enough to get the daily quests and quit.  That is probably the best thing about the new version of AB2 that it makes you want to stop playing because there is little incentive to waste time, gems etc.

A few months ago I found the Windows version and downloaded it.  At first I was hoping I could play on my computer instead of phone but was pleasantly surprised to find it was the old version of AB2.  I enjoy playing the older version over the new version.  I know what to expect (and since I had experience from playing AB2 I quickly was able to get to the same level as I am in the non Windows version).  I sometimes play both versions at the same time and see the difference so clearly.  The Windows version seems to have more/longer ads but offer more free treasures for watching them.  Of course watching an ad is so much worth it to get an extra bird in the arena which usually the difference in winning.  Miss that the most on the new version.  Occasionally the Windows version does crash but the way I look at it, it is much better then the new version  and complaining about it may cause Rovio to update the Windows version or remove it all together.

The difference between the old and new version is clear and some times get identical boards.  It is amazing to see the difference even though you do the exact same thing but get different results.  The new version will leave a pig somewhere but the Windows version clears it.  Or even worse, the boards may be almost identical but the new version would have pig somewhere obscure that requires an additional bird to kill.

With Windows 11 coming soon will the windows version be removed and that is why Rovio hasn’t upgraded the Windows version?  If you can open Android apps on a Windows device this is plausible.  I hope not.  I enjoy the older version much more then the new version.   Also would hate to lose everything I have accomplished in the Windows version unless there is a way to transfer gems, etc to the newer version?

Forgot about the boss pig that either won’t die no matter how many times he is hit or he has a sliver left of life but you run out of birds and have to spend gems to get three birds and only need one.

A thoughtful question that makes one to ponder.  One would think that receiving or purchasing a spell or token to help you when you needed it the most would seem logical.  You would be wrong.  It wouldn’t be fair to your opponent to have an advantage over them according to Rovio.

Here is another question to ponder.  What is the point of giving away spells since they are practically useless?  Can’t use them in the arena, the third board of the daily challenge or during the king pig panic when you need extra pigs and help the most.

There is one question that isn’t addressed.  Why can’t gems be used to purchase more birds instead of resetting the game?

I agree about being scared about future updates however some updates are better just not the current update.

I do concur with Rovio about needing to change things.  But you shouldn’t do a complete change that people are used to something for years overnight with no warning.  They could have kept the same arena format and given only 5 birds to compete.  Worked out the bugs with that format and introduced another change.

Apparently they are getting a lot of negative feedback or else they wouldn’t have posted that message.  I have no doubt that there are people that like the new update and looking at the arena leagues there are people doing rather well.  Of course those people won’t complain.

Not sure about advantages or disadvantages but have found some concerns.

If spells have been removed, what is the point of keeping them altogether?  You can used them in the daily challenge except for the boss pig board.

Pigs seem to be very difficult to be destroyed.  Had to use multiple birds to clear boards even though the pigs had been hit.

Was receiving stars for power ranking removed also?

Watching a video and receiving a free bird is gone also?

It is too similar to Eagle Bootcamp.

60gems to restart match is excessive unless you’re paying for gems.  Unless you win the weekly arena and get 1000 gems it is very difficult to get 60 gems a day.

So I am now 1-4 in my new arena record and just got demoted to a lower league.  Of course I am ranked 30 and the first place person is +213.  Makes me want to stop playing right now because how can I catch that especially only getting 15 points a win?  And I just lost again in the lower league even though I was winning by 8million and had the same amount of birds left.  Then I had trouble clearing a board and the opponent kept getting points but had more birds all of sudden?

I agree that the arena needed to be changed but this is terrible.  Of course I will continue to give it a chance but after waiting several days and hopes that the update would be good I am highly disappointed and find it very easy to find something else to do instead.  I actually enjoyed writing this up more then playing the new arena!

Update 12/10

It has only been 24 hours and have been playing AB2 less.  I actually would be playing right now but have no desire to play.

I refuse to pay 60gems for another chance.

The extra 100 tickets are good but I think it is a sign that may realize they have made a mistake?

Since they took away spells then they should take away the Destructometer as well and have each player only play the 5 birds/flock of the day…no extra birds at all!

I know I have to give it more then a couple days but when you are 30th place and can’t control your own fate what’s the point of playing anymore?  I believe instead of making it more fair they did the complete opposite!
