What The Heck Rovio, spent 40 gems in last hour just to be able to get to the 4500 token award, I can’t play after today, and twice in the last half hour did I have very strong runs with a 75% bonus, would have made it, but not one but two crashes right before the astrotrain which robbed me of over 1300 points. One got credited back after reboot without the bonus, the other is lost and I won’t make the level. Fix your darn servers, I have not crashed at any other time but the last hour of play…….in this comp!!

I really enjoyed WMT day, on the whole, despite the inexcusable cases of runs without any WMTs. Those aside, it’s a nice change to be swapping in Heatwave or Sentinel Prime as an offensive matchup.

It so happened that I was in what very simply was a 2-player contest for 1st place. (3rd place was at least 7000 points behind 1st all the way through.) And so I’m at 9040 tokens with one day to go. :)

I spent 10 + 20 + 40 + 60 gems to do it, but so be it. Pretty much my top use for them is to buy competition runs when I’m enjoying the comp. And I’m glad to have locked up the chest of gems completely, with the axe all but certain as well.

Oh, that was a close one. Spent 10 gems to get 550 tokens, then saw second closing in. Spent 20 more to keep my lead. Time was on my side and stayed on top. Just need 670 for the chest and axe. Only had two runs without any WMTs.

Locked out of this thread since the start of the WMT target day. Was it something I typed?

Anyway, FWIW, I’m in an interesting cohort for today’s challenge. Rather than the normal 20 players, mine has 17. Oh, and 2 players are named PLAYER Another is named ****GAMER. And there is ANGRYIRDS. I thought each player was a real breathing Homo sapiens and had to have a unique name.

But 2 GAMERs?

They can’t ensure that the number of players is precisely divisible by 20 at all times. So SOMETHING will surely be faked — even if they do it in a fairly honorable way, e.g. by cloning the scores of a real player in another cohort.

I think my top 2 in the group are fake players as there is no way you could get their scores.
Logged in this morning and everybody apart from 1st & 2nd had 1,000 to 3,000, 1st had 10,000+ and 2nd had 8,000+. No chance you could get those scores.

half hour after I started playing today the leader in my group had 9865, don’t think anything wrong with that … maybe the 20 places were slow to fill and the player spent plenty of gems to get to where he/she was.. possibly was all needed for the crate of gems and in 10.5 hours since today’s challenge started is now only 10497.
I spent plenty of gems during the competition and have the chest, axe and as long as i get 4th, 5th or 6th I will choose either Ramhorn or Eject.
I’ve enjoyed the competition and happy with my result. It was quite possible to get the crate by spending gems with a net positive gem count of around 2,000, it’s a pity I had to work during days…..

I’m at 6202, and I’ve only spent 10 gems so far.

If my wife had told me a little sooner what my plans for today would be, I’d have spent more gems already and would have a higher score.

I’d also be a little higher if I hadn’t lost a run due to that bug where the map suddenly ends in the desert. I had 250 points already when the world ended.

Still somewhat improbable, though. I’ve found that the competition runs are unusually long, and between the length of runs, and occasionally having to restore health on my TFs, you’d be lucky to get in 10, perhaps 12, runs in an hour.

So assuming this guy was able complete six runs in that half hour, then we’re saying that he somehow averaged 9,865/6 = 1,644 points per run!! That’s pretty amazing, even if had Rescue Bots (+150% bonus) in effect throughout, especially given the way Rovio FUBARed the targets ever since Day 4.

Overall, I’d call this week a qualified success. Earned enough tokens to get Axe + the Chest (2,500) of Gems. And I only had to spend 200 gems to do it.

That having been said, the real cost wasn’t the gems, but rather to the quality of my sleep and to my productivity at work.

I have no idea why ABT has such a hold on me. @20qmindreader was absolutely right when he said that his greatest achievement was to stick it out since October 2014.

@optimuspig I noted on the previous day that after my 1st run there were only 15 in my group and it had filled to 20 after run 3, so it is possible the player started a while before me.

Anyhow with just over 2 hours to go I am currently have 750 tokens left and am in 4th spot with a lead of 4,000 so I think that Ramhorn is in the bag for me

Well, I’m getting hustled out the door. But I got to 9400 tokens, so that’s obviously a lock for 9500 or better after the day’s final standings are tallied.

Having a shot at 10,500 would have taken a bunch more runs. Not an option. Not much of a loss. :)

I wound up in first place, and thus at 10,400 tokens overall. Bit of a surprise. I’d been exchanging the lead with somebody back and forth when I bustled out the door 1 1/2 hours before the competition ended.

All I got to say is thank goodness that Comp is over, it was the worst comp Rovio has run todate and there was no way as we were told that all prices can be won hahaha not sure why they said that as under normal game play there was no chance of getting 12,000 tokens for the crate. My last 2 4 runs there was not a gold coin block to be seen.

I’ve decided to not play the Heatwave event, enemies are too tough (flying pigs, shotgun pigs & mortar towers) especially given you can’t use Shieldor.
