    “Can the Can” was on a compilation my mum owns, and when I was young I used to import all these songs onto iTunes and listen to them all day… :)
    Plus, we get two rock stations here, one via satellite and one in the car radio. The satellite one plays a lot of classic rock including CCR, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Suzi Quatro and the like ;) Whereas the one in the car usually plays more modern stuff (which really isn’t worse than the classics!).

    I liked the Doors because of my older brother. I liked Hendrix because it was left handed like me but l don’t reverse the strings like he did. I take a normal guitar and play it upside down. That’s how I took guitar lessons for one year. My favorite band when I was a teenager was The Guess Who from Canada. See if your mom remembers them.

    Same timing here. I started playing guitar at age 11 in 1975 (so you are not much older than me if at all ;). I was also playing drums at the time (Started drums first actually). I cut my teeth on Zep and Pink Floyd then Yes, King Crimson and other prog. Then I got into 60’s stuff (Doors, Stones and others) and more commercial pop and rock. Played in a few bands in high school and abandonned drums along the way. Then a brief punk period and I was suddenly in our equivalent of college. I had always listened to a wide rande of music including some classical but in college I widened my tastes to contemporary composers (Glass, Reich, etc.) I always had eclectic tastes.

    In the 80s I really got into pop and new wave, The Police and Andy Summers were a huge influence on my playing as was U2 a bit later. In 1985 I joined the first incarnation of the band I would be in until 2000 when I stopped playing seriously. We were a decade too soon to take advantage of the web…

    That’s how Doyle Bramhall II plays as well (Arcangels with Charlie Sexton and SRV’s Double Trouble). Their one album recorded in the early 90s is in my book of of the top 5 albums of the 90s. Listen to the last song (Too Many Ways to Fall) and the incredible tone he has in the solo. Sexton sings that one but Bramhall does the lead guitar (they exchanged it in different songs). That song slays me every time…

    Interesting
    Dylan and Neil Young and CSNY were also influences bc of older brothers. I loved the police bc there early videos on mtv were simply them playing in the studio.
    Albert King also played his Flying V like me. I also had all of U2s albums. I am familiar w bramhall II because of the Clapton concert videos each year. It is such a kick to see someone playing upside down like me.

    Interesting where we all draw influence from, and the impetus that makes us play.

    Iommi for his perseverance and thunder (hence the SG)
    Page of course for the genius and diversity (hence the Les Paul)
    Knopfler for the tone and talk
    SRV for making the Blues relevant to me and the sheer effortless ability
    Quine for being crazy cool

    @dallasreds I’m trying my hardest, but know they will win. Still it’s fun if I just just get up close behind or in front of them to watch using a lot of effort to go flying off into the sunset.

    I think I should give them a present of a bar of soap to wash their mouth out hehehe.

    You are doing great. Just when I think one of you is going to give up, you are back in the race. You are so close now. Keep you’re chin up. I am cheering for you!

    @suzyq

    @dallasreds Thanks, I’m cheering for you too. Maybe there will be a battle for 3rd place later as there are 4 of you who could take that slot. If you want it, I hope you get it, as you have done so well too :)

    I already chose a rather easy board but thanks to stupid Sky_Spy – who hasn’t played at ALL since he cheated on the 2nd day) there’s still a fight for the 2nd and 3rd place…
    (Ibrahim hasn’t done his objectives yet so I hope Maiky doesn’t grind me off 3rd place…)

    I once got that Sky_Spy guy on my boards but he seemed to play normally. I even got placed first throughout the whole weekend.

    Maybe that was before he started cheating…
    He’s definitely not a normal player. You can’t gain 130,000 points within half an hour. And the fact he doesn’t increase his score at ALL anymore is just more suspicious.

    Just listened to Arc Angels clip. Great song. Great solo. I’ll have look for it. Thanks for sharing.

    Too true, there was a player here on the boards who commented a few months ago who I haven’t seen comment in awhile @rovintan I think his name was. He had a very powerful team with the power of 1547( this was before the M15 update).

    He played 226 rounds in 9 hours using @pointless strategy employing Wizard and Sea Dog using the gang up/rage technique and also had Blues Spies In that equation(perhaps he is @pointless alter ego?). He put up in that span 45,980 grinding points in addition to the daily objectives and he was hitting the top prize of 175 90% of the time(he said it was easier to tap instead of flicking but I’ve never received those kinds of points no matter how hard I try, perhaps there’s a trick to it). Mind you this is when the coin toss was very favorable and of those 226 battles,he won 158 and lost 68 and so he had more 3 star wins than you would now.

    Even at those rates he would have been hard pressed to clear 125000 points, and would have no time for anything. And now with the coin flip being reversed I don’t think anyone could crack 100000 points in a day. I’m sure @pointless would tell you anything beyond 60000 is nigh impossible. Never mind in a half hour.

    @datguygamer

    @smwforever45 It may be so. I remember finishing the week on 135k and him in the second place on 129K. Man, that was fiesty week in Platinum.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @shapokomanbeast I don’t remember what my highest points in one day has been, but certainly nothing close to those lofty numbers. I certainly haven’t spent 9 hours in a row grinding. We can extrapolate a theoretical number based on average time per battle, but this is exactly that, theoretical, and based on using consumables to get the high score each time. The issue is the jumps some of these “players” are achieving in short times, clear indications of cheating as they are simply not possible.
    Way back in Season 1 or so, I did use Wizard/Spies/SeaDog, but found that this left you in a somewhat dire situation if you lost the toss, as Chuck and the Blues are the weakest Birds.

    @pixelyzed
    I bought that album when it came out in ’92. Definitely helped with the void after SRV in ’90.

    ShapokoManbeast
    @shapokomanbeast

    @pointless
    That’s kind of what I figured. The most grinding I’ve done in the arena is 8hours and it wasn’t fun at all.

    It also sucks that Rovio has put the burden on the players to catch cheats because who can be logging into the arena every 15 minutes to catch them.

    Events suck too because the timer only starts with 72 hours left,enabling clever cheaters to put up reasonable points with no real proof otherwise(unless screenshots have time stamps on them).

    Dallasreds
    @dallasreds

    @smwforever45
    I ran into sky spy in the arena yesterday for the first time. I politely skipped them. I hope it gets zapped off your board.

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    @dallasreds What exactly do you mean by “skipped them”?

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @shapokomanbeast yes, it is highly irritating that Rovio seems unwiiling to do anything permanent to these cheaters. It has been suugested that they don’t simply due to the additional ad revenue they generate from these active “players”…if this is indeed true, then we will never see an end to the behaviour.
    Date stamps aren’t necessarily needed, it us rather obvious when everyone else’s score doesn’t change (or very little) and one player leaps. Has everyone else stopped playing? Uh…no, that’s a cheater. I have pointed this out to Rovio on numerous occasions.

    ShapokoManbeast
    @shapokomanbeast

    @pointless
    True, I’m glad you and others have contacted Rovio regarding this. I have as well but I don’t have the precision and poise others have when dealing with them?And even the politeness of their staff doesn’t amount to much when they do nothing concrete about the problem. That’s why I’m thankful for this site, for my sanity ?

    ShapokoManbeast
    @shapokomanbeast

    @datguygamer
    He probably Mccooled him?

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    @shapokomanbeast But then again, it’s a ranked battle and as far as I know, @dallasreds has a solid team so why would he need to McCool them away?

    I don’t think Sky_Spy’s team was tampered with as he just hacks the scores. I have faced his team in the past and it’s a mere 1300+ power rating one. But maybe he had some other reason to skip the team, who knows.

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    @pointless Thanks for the FE. Didn’t think you’d borrow my birds considering how weak they are at the moment.
