About the Angry Birds 2 Arena

There are indeed some good players out there. The difficulty is in sustaining 9-10 star matches 20 times a day for a week, given the inherent randomness of the game. I wish we could watch some of those players play, it would be very educational.

I wonder if Rovio could capture some epic matches / high performance players and show some matches on their web site…

I was leading my league, didn’t seem to be any players that were gonna be much challenge. After my first room tonight I cam out in a new league where, SURPRISE, I’m not leading any more.

This happens almost every week and NEEDS TO END.

Today’s conspiracy theory… Why is it that in ‘lands’ that I’m good at (Gravity) I rarely see those in the Arena, but ‘lands’ that I am not as good (the bouncy circus world) I seem to be playing multiple times in a row?

Also, crashes. It’s 2016, Rovio should be able to write a decent exception handler so when the game crashes (2x this week) it either saves state and continues – yea right – or you don’t lose tickets / spells / streak position. The second is not that hard to do.

oh, That flinger was VERY familiar to me back in the last update. In my game, he almost always appeared during streak 5-7. He was one of those 5 spell/maxed out bird wonders that was able that rack scores around 9-10 million. Had to use a lot of gems to compete. No idea why he has the blue sling so early. It’s almost been a week since this update and I upgraded my sling to bronze.

For me, it hasn’t been always easy getting a full winning streak unless I had to spend LOADS gems and spells. It was extremely h*ll in the last update with the consistent 5 spell users I’ve seen 5-6 times in a row. I HATED it LOL :) However, like David says it seems more doable in this update. Also depends on your bird levels. 5 of my birds are at level 12 (I’ve upgraded 2 to level 13) and I’ve been able to compete with those tough all 13s by bringing 1-2 spells (usually magic ducks or blizzards) with me. If you’ve saved some pearls, use them to buy the party hats to upgrade your slingshot. You’ll have an easier time since the slingshot and hats will give you a +1 multiplier, not exactly much but every bit of help counts :)

I saw that too. All I’ve been seeing is the same Pig City (circus levels) and Pig Bay levels with the exact same structures. What has happened to the variety?

Well since this latest update, I actually won 15 arena battles in a row but sadly I have not be able to get more than 2 wins in a row since. Surely this isn’t a case of the dumb game telling me I’ve won too many battles?!?

@jon3800 – I have to agree with you and others because I just completed a streak. What I’m noticing FUNALLY –
The players with lower ranked birds but high star ranks actually play better than those with high ranked birds and lower star ratings. This just proves that people who haven’t played very long but excessive spend money on Spells and multiple options to Play On CAN’T PLAY VERY WELL and must rely on this false ranking up to kill us with bonus points. As a result, it’s been tougher to beat people at the beginning of a streak because they are hardcore PLAYERS rather than PURCHASERS. I cannot get Bomb out of Level SEVEN!!!!! My others are half 8 half 9. I mistakenly thought I could mix and match my Hats and bought a 100 pearl hat for Bomb and my other lowest bird BEFORE giving everyone a 20 Pearl hat. Now I need 40 more pearls to finish my Bronze sling. Bottom line, SO FAR, I have not taken to serious profanity or wanting to hurl my phone at the wall while playing. Still early to judge…

Aside regarding this Forum – why doesn’t it default to the most recent location? Getting tired of having to scroll to the bottom of the first page to access the ability to select the last page. Then have to scroll to the bottom of it. And that’s when I’m selecting the comment from within an email notification!

Stopped playing a while back because the game was broken and didn’t enjoy the frustration. With the positive feedback on the latest update I decided to get back in and like the changes they made. A question for you @hank all of my birds were dropped from level 4 to level 2 and all my medals disappeared. Is this the result of me not playing for a while or a glitch? I have also been dropped to the Vanilla league but I can see that as a natural result of not playing for months.

PS Why is it when I click on the Arena I get an error saying I don’t have an internet connection but when I go to the Daily challenge I get in right away. Tried Arena again right after getting into the daily challenge and got the same error. Eventually I got in the arena.

Well, the opponents are no more spell card clowns so far and they are beatable..
that’s the good thing. And for me it’s an advantage that there are new structures.

But the guys on the first places this week are suspicious. I’m on 8 with about 160 stars and that beakboxer on number 1 won over 320 stars within two days!
Rich guys or again cheaters, that’s the question.
And I’m still angry about the tournament last week where I spent arena tickets to be on the second place and I got no gems on sunday.

@angrynerds2 I am current sitting with about 275 gems this week without buying an Arena ticket. The much easier matchups have me at a very high win rate and I have when managed sone 10 star wins. I have also spent about 300 banked gems to extend matches for wins. This much play is abnormal for me, but as I am on vacation I play a match every 3 hours, watch the video, then bank tickets until I have time to play.

This is not sustainable for me, but I have more stars so far this week than the last few weeks in the Arena and still have 4 tickets banked from today.

No cheating or buying tickets, but I will take advantage of the easy Arena format until it is invariably reset to unwinable.

The biggest issue is the Arena itself (or the leaderboard) appear to be inaccessible at least twice a day. Currently I can’t see anyone (including myself) on the leaderboard, so won’t play my banked tickets until I can confirm my progress.

Now freakin Owlie Beakboxer has 451 Stars, he played at least 46 times (must be more) since yesterday.
I doubt that there is more fun in the arena now..

Just played the Arena, got to play 2 whole rounds. Round one, free play, was at streak 3, I won.

Round 2, streak 4, video play, outranked and slaughtered, game over. I gained 5 whole points, somehow way behind again already in the league this week.

And am I the only one not liking the new level designs, the goal of Angry Birds is maximum destruction. These new structures do not fall into each other every structure takes 1-3 birds, so you get to play 4-5 rooms max each round. That is not fun or the original goal of Angry Birds.

@heybert17 – I agree that the new Arena level designs are much harder and typically take multiple birds per room. In that sense, your typical Arena room is now a lot more like your typical campaign level room (without as many of the obnoxious Laser Pigs and such, I guess).

The thing is, I’ve noticed that I can screw up and take 4-5 on a particularly tough room and not end up too far behind as a result, likely because my opponent had similar difficulty with it. In the old Arena layouts where you could 1-bird almost every room, one slight screw-up (usually a micropig that unexpectedly survives – this happens to me a lot less now) would typically put you far behind due to nearly everyone having the ideal strategy memorized for each room. They need to change them up every now and then just to keep the Arena fresh, I think, and I’m in favor of more complexity rather than less just because it seems to create more potential to recover from mistakes while making it harder to memorize and execute and exact perfect method for every single room. I hate the feeling of getting something less than perfect just once and being doomed; I’ve definitely lost some matches since the update, but overall I don’t feel that sense of dread any more. Upping the difficulty for all of us seems to have put us on more of a level playing field.

I wasn’t able to access the Arena for over an hour today. This has happened every day since Saturday. Then when I got back in today, the slate is blank – no names listed.

I will send a Rovio request, but any ideas or thoughts? I should have 300 stars or so. I am now just playing one round each time and banking all the extra tickets until I can see my saved progress. @hank?

Hi.
Have read that in the Arena, spells you are awarded and use, are taken away from the ones you have saved.
I have confirmed this in regular AB2 play.
Can you please explain?
Bottom line, everybody will want their spells back, will we get them?

BTW, Arena gameplay is for now fairer, but not cheat free, thanks.

once again, 2 rounds and done. This time it was a out of reach pig in room one, I missed him with the one Chuck I got the whole round and not another single bird could get him.

That Beakboxer has 638!! stars now, Iggy Strike on the 2nd with 510 stars!
No, we have no cheaters here..
I don’t have desire to continue in that tournament.

…By the time I wake up…they’ll likely be well over 600. Can’t imagine what these top players are actually spending for 300 gems and pearls..

The top 3 scores of my tournament add up to over 3000 so you guys have it easy in comparison lol. Being that I am one of the 3 scores, I can say it is just from saving up your tickets and grinding them on weeks that Rovio release “new things” such as pearls that contribute to hats and upgraded slingshots.

Make no mistake, I am sure there are cheaters as well, as when you see players jump from 0 to 500 in seconds, rather than going up 5-10 points at a time and then from 500 to 1000 or some other magical number in another few seconds it really does look suss.

Something strange has happened after the latest update. I lost a huge part of my saved from chests and purchased spells (about 20 magic ducks & 20 chillies). And this problem is still unsolved since the amount of unused spells reduces w/out any logic. As far as I can see, I’m not alone with this problem here. Please, fix this pretty damn expensive bug ASAP!
