With all this talk about Angry Birds Space, no one was expecting this…
Rovio specifically said that Angry Birds Rio was not finished, and we now have proof. A bonus update (v1.4.3 / v1.4.4) is now available for iOS and Android via the Amazon Appstore and Android Market, with other platforms coming soon. From the original release of Rio, we all hoped and prayed that hunting down 90 fruit would yield some sort of reward, and Rovio has responded!
PC Update: v1.4.4 has landed on PC!
Mac Update: v1.4.4 has landed on Mac!
Playbook Update: v1.4.4 has landed for Playbook, a major update which also includes the 30 levels of Smuggler’s Plane.
This update includes:
- 6 new challenging levels, one for each episode that
has 90/90 stars!Correction: It seems that you simply need to pass all 30 levels of the episode, not necessarily earn all 90 stars. - Another 6 new levels, one for each episode that has 15/15 fruit!
- The walkthrough page are online and we’re starting on the video walkthroughs.
- The Trophy Room leaderboard is live and ready for your scores.
- This is still not the end of Rio!. That’s right. According to the iOS release, there will still be more updates in the future.

I’m surprised that Amazon had the update 1st. I think this is the 1st time in AB history(other than bug fixes) that an update has been released for Android 1st.

Does not typically affect the iOS release. The exclusivity was typically Amazon vs. Android Market.

Birdday Party was a bit different. Rio is typically quite quick.

Rovio is giving us lots of updates this month. This is just like christmas. Rovio release a lot of updates during the holidays

Low priority possibly. But Rovio has told me they will be updated.

Yeah but few days until we welcome the new born “ABSpace”. Also, there is intersting quote from Peter Vesterbacka in his interview with Business Insider, “What’s very important, we are doing frequent updates to all our games.”

Just speculating, this update looks more like a bonus update, unlocking new levels for achieving three stars and fruits per episode.
Fox is already working on a sequel, who knows what rovio plans to do … unless you are keeping some secrets from us ha ha.

I agree: I see this more as a bonus for what already existed. I don’t think this was the “continued updates” that Rovio referred to a month ago.

I think all knew that Rio 2 was/is going to come out at some point. Almost every animated film that does well will get a sequel (it’s part of marketing to get more money/extend this like of a brand). But I think Rovio would just make another app for Rio 2.

Cool! Weird tho, Amazon store says I need a wi-fi connection for it to update. Sooo…I have to drive a mile down the road to the gas station to get wi-fi. Lol.

I can confirm that three stars on all levels is not required to get the bonus level, merely completing all levels of an episode unlocks the bonus level.
And just when I thought I was going to have to keep replaying past levels while waiting for March 22. It’s like Christmas :). I love unexpected gifts. Thanks Rovio! and thanks for all of the hard work keeping everyone up to date with this site. Now, off to my Kindle to fling some birds :).

For the bonus levels for 90/90 stars, it looks like you just need to complete the level to get the bonus level. On each level, I have not 3 starred the entire level, however I am still able to get the bonus level. Would like to get this confirmed, but that is what I able to get.
What about the fruits?
Levels with incomplete fruit count are not able to be opened. selection screen is partially greyed out based on number of fruits achieved.
Are you sure you can play them? I didn’t realize until this morning that I hadn’t three starred one level. That level shows in the trophy room, but I couldn’t play that trophy, until I three starred the original level.
All the rest I could play.
Perhaps you are confusing the 3-star level with the 15-fruit level?
Now that I think about it, I got a fruit while three starring, so that was probably why I was confused.
Hrm, oh well. A small bug to the benefit of the player isn’t the worst thing. I’ll ask BirdLeader when it lands on iOS. I believe he is missing a few fruit (due to being busy, not inability).

Has anyone gotten the melon board yet? The best I can get is 111250, and it’s only two stars.

Yep. You have to launch first bird almost straight to the right so it catches the wall, falls onto the blue and white life preserver, bounces back up and explodes pushing the TNT up and to the tower…then the yellow bird up and over breaking the chain and grazing the top of the right tower which should
collapse into the pit. Its not easy…lots of restarts but I got 121560. Good luck!

Three star score confirmed for smugglers den at 90,000 and beach volleyball at 100,000. One bird solutions possible on both.
When you say “confirmed” do you mean 89k and 99k are definitely only 2-stars?
Yes. 89k is 2 stars for the birdcage and 99k is two stars for the volleyball. I have been working on the pineapple and 75k is two stars 77k is three. Have not been able to complete in the 76k range yet.
Palm tree 128k is two, 131k is three. Better go to bed now before the sun comes up

Yes, we will add everything (leaderboard, walkthroughs, etc.) but right now don’t have enough to meet the minimum requirements in the system haha.

I’m not sure if this is new but whenever you get a fruit, it shows xx/15 when the fruit in in the middle.
Since I have all fruits and cannot get them again, can you post a screenshot?

also, when you get the 15th fruit, three stars appear under the fruit, nice touch.
