    howdy

    I sent a request to join the clan. Not sure about this game, but ABN rules!

    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 – please read my p.m., this is a filtered version.

    Yes and yes. My memory is that we became friends at the very beginning of all this, when we were both trying to figure out how to do this. I sent you my first gift and that may have been before you started keeping track. I believe that’s when I received one from you in kind.

    I get gifts within the game rarely, maybe 2-3x a week, and I have been receiving gifts from @achimenes-crataegus 3-5 gifts a day . The #gifts discrepancy between us has made me wonder what Rovio is trying to reward. Achimedes is going through very quickly, and me stodgy like. They want us to keep moving?

    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 – scratch that, I see you at 212, so you should be able to see me.

    I tried this idea of farming, and blew all my five lives trying that with nary a gift in sight (levels 7, 8, 9). No gem gifts for my friends today.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 – are you still (I assume) @196? You are in the list of people I can send gifts to, but I can’t see you at all. I do see @kwai-long at @153 so this works at least in part for me.

    Can you see me @55? I am further than that, but hanging out there because I’ll be damned if I’m not gonna three-star this level.

    Apparently I am late to this party, but I’m not going to zoom through this. I am basically living at the tournaments and I’m improving a lot.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 – Excellent answer! Thorough and clear. Although now I know what it is, I shudder to think about farming, because it reminds me of Carbonite rewards.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    It appears that I am playing this game differently. What does “farm” mean? It seems that means sitting on a beginners level and repeating it until you get a gift? Why do people want feathers, don’t you get them by winning tournaments? And is there something special about the levels your choosing, e.g. why haunt level nine?

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 – it strikes me that if @mighty-red-1 has finished the game that this might answer both of your questions.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @waimea – I am always so happy to run into somebody who also shares my excellent sense of humor. Mouth “on a roll” is an excellent synonym for loquaciousness.

    Like I say, when I am wise I create my posting elsewhere, usually in Evernote, and then copy and paste. But it always seems like the effort is not worth it or what I am saying is not worth recording. It is funny what you say about “copy” though, synchronicity even, because I did try that today for the first time ( if I understand you correctly, periodically copying the entire text) . Unfortunately I am constantly copying and pasting, and when I went back the clipboard was only one item deep and I had written over it.

    And as for myself, a few gray hairs here, a few gray hairs there, in context of a rapidly graying head a few aren’t worth counting .

    @gelfling

    @waimea

    Damn, damn, damn. I had a nice long, chatty, exceedingly clever response for you that was just eaten by the Internet. When will I learn that I need to write my response someplace else and copy and paste?

    This time I will be succinct and hope that the Internet gods smile on me. I totally agree with you on the capriciousness of tournament scoring. I talked about that, documenting with screenshots what happened, in my bogus Facebook page here.

    Also, if you’re willing to give it a go, you can try this process with me. The reason that I bring that up is that you two spent a lot of time on this. If that did not work with me at least you would know that it was a new intellectually creative mistake that you guys came up with. But I totally understand if you want to let that go (blech! Bad taste in the mouth).

    My understanding is that there will be two parts, first we would have to become Facebook friends, between our two bogus accounts, and second one of us would have to invite the other Facebook friend into our leaderboard from within AB2. The end result being is that you could then see my puny Ab2 scores and feel superior. :-) Let me know if you want to do that. It would help to be friends at ABN so that we could talk about the process.

    Agh. My natural loquaciousness ran away with me. I am sending this before the inter-net God munch on my bytes.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @waimea – LOL after two weeks of trying to get this set up properly I would throw my tablet into the garbage. I guess in order to succeed at this game we have already tested and proven our persistence, what more do they want? :-)

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @waimea @mvnla2

    In mvnla’s suggestions, it seemed that the last one, “You may need to then invite your [facebook] friend from within AB 2,” is the one whereby mvnla and I were finally able to exchange gifts. On the other hand, @sweetp and I are still struggling and when I accepted @kwai-long’s invitation that person was connected instantly. Maybe kwai knows what s/he’s doing?

    If you obtain any clarity about this other people would doubtless appreciate an addition to this thread.

    One downside from succeeding in this is that you instantly got to compare your scores with your friends. Wow. Some people are really kicking butt. I have finally got at the top of my leaderboard more than a few times, but mostly I tried to be inspired and not feel intimidated!

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @Hazelmix – I agree. My Rovio account was still working well when I last played Star Wars II. It seems that it may not have been working well enough for Rovio however. My guess is that if you partner with Facebook somehow that manages to be lucrative. :-)

    For myself I decided to try this out, including a bogus Facebook account, but it’s ungodly complicated just to give somebody a gift. Doubtless those old to Facebook will find it less complex.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 tee hee hee ha! You have a good sense humor but it doesn’t come out often enough.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @MVnLA2 I don’t know enough about this to expand the post at the beginning of this thread into something useful. I will add your 2 links and let you edit it further if you want to.

    I am confused! Not that easily done. You can connect AB2 to Facebook, Facebook to ABN, ABN to Rovio, ad nauseum. Then yesterday I also connected to your Facebook account @MVnLA, from within AB2, which is how I was able to send a gift to you today ?!, Now I see your high scores for a particular level in a personalized “leaderboard” Rovio created for me! Aiyee! I don’t like leaderboards and now I have a personalized leaderboard. Are you familiar with this, is this normal?

    (Nice scores by the way, good job!)

    I’m also posting publicly the obvious, which is apparently not so to some people. Don’t chase down ABN members via this thread or by creating bogus ABN accounts. Do not ask us to be Facebook friends to get AB2 gifts. Not happening. Can’t believe someone was that selfish and naïve. We have some exquisitely sharp beaked folks here at ABN just for this and similar purposes.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 -Just now I actually saw a gift! I’d burned up most of my birds before the gift arrived, so I didn’t know whether to focus on nailing the gift or on getting more careful so that I would finish the level and get to keep the gift! So of course I missed the shot. Then when I came through the level a second time the gift was gone. :(( It will take me a bit to figure this out.

    What I did was to put the link to my Facebook page here in my profile here @ABN so that only members can view it . That seems like the logical place to place it. I sent you an invitation from within AB2 to your Facebook account. I have no idea if that helped, but if it did then it would be nice to let other people know instead of flailing around like I was.

    Also, there are people who have been working this Rovio-Facebook-AB2-ABN connection for a while and who know a whole lot more than I do about it who can probably indoctrinate us, like @partshade.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2 2! 2!t. OK sounds like a good idea, I’ll try to follow your advice, figure out how to rename this thread, and rerig the initial content later today. After I do that would you take that draft and make any changes revisions that would be helpful to ABN culture and I’ll post that . ?

    @sweetp
    sure, I would love to join your face book group. What is a Facebook group? :-) I promised my first gift to MVLA2, and I’ll give my second one to you sweetp. Then maybe I will understand this and know what I’m doing.

    My main purpose was to find someone to give these gifts to and not waste them. To get started today I finished 2 1/2 levels just now and there wasn’t one gift in any of the games (nomenclature?). Damn, does Facebook stop giving you gifts if you don’t give them away? If that is true hopefully once we start giving to each other will get more of them.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    Good @sweetp. My Facebook account is now in my ABN profile. Let me know if you want me involved.

    When I created my account I found @mvnla2 there, befriended to some other ABN folks. I think that she has a post here about creating bogus accounts for AB purposes.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @mvnla2

    Ah ha! At last you have helped me to figure this out. This is all a nefarious plot to get oldish iPad owners ;) to upgrade! Or is it an even more sly, nefarious plot by Rovio to so thoroughly confabulate us diehard fans that we keep coming back to figure out all of this meaningless minutiae?!

    {Gefling shrieks! about how meaningless video games are, flings herself onto a sharpened slingshot, and bounces off some balloons to fall below — all the while knowing full well that her character will reincarnate with the next set of cards and return to AB2 tomorrow.}

    @gelfling

    Welcome back I hope that your vacation went well. Are you sure about this? Because I got the crown and then it was four days until I got the frame. The only change I really made was hooking up with Facebook.

    Is any of this documented somewhere so I don’t stumble in the dark?

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    Getting a silver frame may be another Facebook thing.

    When I played before I did not see or invite facebook friends (not being on facebook!). So my screen looked like this:

    ABN1 Screenshot_2015-08-08-14-04-15.png

    Now on the left-hand side it insists on putting me in a leaderboard, wanted or not. Now my facebook avatar appears in that leaderboard within a silver frame. I’m pretty stoked now, being at the top of my very own leaderboard.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @justpast40 – you are not confused, this is confusing! But I guess that can be an and/or.

    I just got the silver frame when I signed on today, seemingly out of nowhere. There are too many possible explanations, but this might help you guys figure it out. It may be because I got number one in a tournament, that happened at the end of day yesterday. That pushed one of my characters into a bronze league. I also hooked up with Facebook yesterday. And it may be encouragement for failing too many times on level 35 (I think not).

    Too many possible variables!

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @partshade – thanks for letting me know. So I did connect a FB account to my AB2 account. I haven’t been to the arena yet, looking forward to being able to find my smiling gelfling face. Thanks!

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    @waimea, @sweetp, @mighty-red-1, @tinus

    I created my bogus Facebook account, which you can find here at ABN if you are a member. Only for playing Angry Birds…

    @sweetp I would be happy to friend you at facebook or anyone else here at ABN who creates a bogus Facebook account and wants to swap gifts/gems/whatever. We could form a bogus-facebook-AB2 ring. I haven’t done that yet and so have not worked through the logistics yet but would be happy to do so. It should give me more time at the arena to work out the kinks in my style. But I don’t do head-to-head competitions, only competing against myself.

    @mighty-red-1 3800 gems??!!!! I think I have 35 LOL. that’s like the endless carbonite reward bug. I ended the game with over 1000 birds, because I kept doing it to see how they programmed carbonite rewards.

    @tinus – I have posted about this elsewhere, but I have some very negative feelings about the capitalistic materialism in AB2. On the other hand I read about how Rovio is falling behind other game makers because of their game model, and I want Rovio to survive. I am giving it a go, refusing to spend any money whatsoever. We’ll see how far I get.

    If there is anyone else who find this post surfing on the net who is trying to connect their AB2 account to a bogus Facebook account but are mystified about how to do so, before going into an episode there is a menu on the left inviting you to share AB2 with Facebook friends.

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    Help! How do I get an avatar for the arena? Fortunately I am so awesomely cool that I don’t needed one for ego points but it sure would be nice to find myself in the sea of red birds.

    I can’t believe I wasn’t able to find this out on the Internet. Is this a Facebook thing?

    Gelfling
    @gelfling

    Ah. I get it. Thank you for that answer. I’m wondering if the millennial generation has ever seen a VHS tape fast forwarding. But now I get it and will understand what they’re trying to say! Appreciative.
