Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Yup, three-pronged victory for me too!
I managed (eventually) to overtake another very persistent player and finished with just 2,000 points more than him; I won the materials for Chuck’s new class well ahead of time; and I got the 6,000-all prize after just one re-spin.
Nice boost there. I’m now averaging Class 7-8 for most of them, while the Illusionist is already up to 4. Only class I don’t have yet is Chuck’s Thunderbird, as I’m still saving up the LCs.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Personally, my best use of the Mighty Eagle was at the final battle with Demon Wizpig… who was impossible to defeat any other way, and with his ludicrously damaging attacks I couldn’t possibly keep Prince Porky alive to deal the killing blow himself.
Just clear the first wave, and when Wizpig bounces back in demon-form, chuck the Mighty Eagle at him! Instant 3-star for me! ;p
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Seems to have gone well for me up to now.
I’ve had crashes, but I’ve since tried to work around that by regularly stopping and restarting the game to make sure the CPU doesn’t get too overfilled with rubbish. (So hopefully it doesn’t crash)
Up to this point, I’ve defeated Eggman with relative ease, and won the Golden Clouds battle once using a strong borrowed Wizard. (My birds are mainly Class 7 by now, with the best weapons/offhands I could get up to now from free GPM spins… so they’re pretty strong)I have all the materials, except for White Wool, currently at 18/25… so I’m pretty confident I should complete it soon.
It’s cost me a lot of FE though, just to get the wheel to stop at a sensible place. I seem to have had a LOT of spins with the wheel stopping sideways, trying to fob me off with the piss-poor low-scoring prizes, which I refuse to ever accept (and often get VERY angry with the game for insultingly repeating the result on a re-spin).
I’ll even settle for the high-scoring slot, even if I don’t always win a material – just so long as in one series of using up my store stamina, I at least get SOME material… but never the sideways spins!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Well, feeling good at the moment.
Defeated Eggman – and actually, just like usual, he was a pushover… ;p
Now I just have to scout around for the last remaining White Wool…Edit: Even better! I just used a few stamina drinks and tackled the Golden Clouds… and soundly won, with some careful use of healing drinks and cakes (as well as a strong borrowed Wizard Chuck)! ^_^
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12I’m seeing a number of complaints here about a game-freeze bug on the Eggman fight and using the chilli. I’ve yet to take him on yet myself, as I’m waiting a bit for my stamina to build up… I take it Red’s Heroic Strike doesn’t cause a crash then? He’s the one I use more often (coupled with Sonic’s Dancing Spark to spread the damage)
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12I know I wasn’t sure how to use Sonic at first, but I soon worked out a strategy, teaming him with Paladin Red and Cap’n Bomb.
His Dancing Spark attack on the strongest enemy deals high collateral damage when used in conjunction with a whipped-up Red’s Heroic Strike rage attack… having the golden chilli myself, this makes for an EXCELLENT opener if the first wave has one strong foe and several weak ones.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Those teams do get ridiculously hard higher up the league, yeah…
After the last recent season ended a month or so ago, I kind of went into retirement from the Bird Arena, as I was spending too much time on it… ^^;
(Especially with the app getting so slow and clunky these days, what with all the app data insisting on residing in the tiny Internal Memory instead of the SD card…)
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Golden egg? Are you referring to the golden piggies that appear sometimes?
Personally, not altogether knowing the location names on the island, I tend to zoom the map out and listen for the pig sniggering to know that he’s onscreen somewhere, as I do for the event battles. I soon track him down that way.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Whew! Heart attack over! I just signed back into my Rovio account, and it’s remembered me! I’m back in business! *faints with relief* x_x;;
Added bonus… it seems my Golden Pig chain isn’t broken either!
I remember now, I was trying to enter the Wednesday daily dungeon when everything went to hell… well, I’d better deal with that now!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12I also just lost all my progress!
I tried to load the game just now, to fight my usual daily Golden Pig, but the app refused to finish loading – it kept getting stuck halfway on the loading screen. Thinking there was some trouble with a recent update, I was forced to reinstall the app – only to find that it hadn’t retained any of my information! I’m back to Square One again as far as progress and such is concerned, and there seems to be no way to get it back!
This is the end of my Angry Birds Epic career, as I’m not feeling inclined to go through all that hard work again when I’m liable to lose it so easily! ¬_¬
I was losing interest anyway…
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Incidentally, don’t you just LOVE when the game forces you to watch some crappy advert before a PvP battle, then when you tap to dismiss it, it instead goes into Google Play, crashes the app… and then has the cheek to forfeit you a banner for its fatal error!!
They really ought to rectify this, as I’ve just lost two battles and now I can’t claw my way out of 4th position – for despite having completed the day’s objectives, I’m still labouring behind after the appalling time I had with yesterday’s challenges!
(And I’m not wasting my LCs on a rematch! I’m still trying to save up for those remaining bird classes!)
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Well, tonight was a travesty!
I got stuck with that STEE-YOO-PID objective “Knock out 3 birds with single attack” again – for like the millionth time!
And due to being up against overpowered teams with ridiculous attack power and HP, I’ve just had my face ground into the dirt with the first two objectives just about completed, but having not even come close to knocking out the whole team with one attack! On the contrary, THEY kept knocking MY birds out… mainly because they cheated on the coin toss and went first!
(Yes, as far as I’m concerned, the computer is using a weighted coin to make sure the enemy starts more often than I do! And if the computer wins a battle, I immediately brand it a cheater! I take it that much of a personal affront to be defeated by a mere machine!)Another thing that REALLY annoying me about these PvP battles lately is that every other opposing team I face seems to have Rogue Blues on their team… the most annoying of foes with their pesky slime attacks! If they’ve gone ahead of me and knocked out my countering Trickster Blues, it REALLY messes up my banners!
And now I’m once again out of banners after losing three battles all too easily to ridiculously overpowered teams who knocked out my birds before they could even begin to fight back!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12If I only had the Lucky Coins… I’m still trying to save up for Thunderbird, Seadog and Skulkers… ^^;
The Daily Golden Pig is a slow process. Is there no other way to earn LCs besides levelling up?
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Also, if you have any damaging team benefits, this can help too.
If you happen to have the Vengeful, this causes explosive damage any time a bird is KOed on your team.
And Retaliate deal damage to the enemy team every time the banner is attacked.More than once, I’ve won a battle because an idiotic team kill themselves by KOing a hurt bird, when their banner is nearly destroyed.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12I know, I’ve been able to do that “knock out 3 birds with one attack” in the past with the attacks you mentioned… but usually with weaker enemy teams… and usually when I get to go first to manipulate the fight as I would rather have it.
Yesterday, I was getting nothing but overly-strong teams with over 1,000HP per bird and bad coin-tosses, so that wasn’t possible for me.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12A major concern for me here…
Is the coin-toss at the start of the PvP battles rigged?
Today’s battles, I had nearly all “tails” (enemy begins), which always throws out my strategy for a burton because it depends on my having three birds active from the get-go!After facing yet more overpowered teams that I could barely defeat, I was down to one banner – and just now I was trying to continue play to see if I had an earthly of beating my remaining objective: knock out three birds with a single attack (worth 3,000). Since I’ve been facing nothing but overpowered teams of birds with ludicrous HP this week, I’ve been finding this impossible to achieve! There’s no way in hell!
By the time I’ve tenderised such a team to be vulnerable enough, the bird I want to lay down the final-strike (e.g. Bomb’s rage-explode, the Blue Spies’ smoke bomb or Wizard Chuck’s lighting strike) has always been gang-banged and KOed!
And worse still, if there was a chance of it being possible, the coin-toss being rigged in the opposing team’s favour completely spoilt it!Just now, I tried to take on a team that I ought to have been able to defeat – but I lost my last banner… all because the bloody coin-toss went in their favour, and I just couldn’t recover from the bad start! It just ain’t fair, Rovio!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12@dallasreds
To answer your question, I personally get annoyed by the “win x number of battles with such-and-such class (usually Sea Dog, Skulker or Thunderbird)”
Seeing as I’m still saving up my Lucky Coins for those (and that’ll still take weeks) it’s an unfair objective to spring on me. I’ve been kept from advancing the leagues lately because of such objectives… and now it seems will remain stranded, because of the overpowered teams I’m being curbstomped by lately… :(
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Another day of rotten overpowered teams! This is getting ridiculous!
How am I expected to have fun when I can’t win?
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Of course, to be able to knock out all three birds with one hit, you also have to be up against a team that’s not overpowered. I had a rotten day with the PvP myself – even after restarting several times, the game kept giving me teams far stronger than me… I was lucky to beat the 1st and 2nd objectives, but was unable to knock out 3 birds twice before my ludicrously strong opponents knocked out all there of my three banners!
I feel rather cheated, labouring along in 10th position… :(
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12The game sure loves to mess with you, though.
There are some days when the coin-toss seems to be rigged for the opposing team to go first, and that’s always a major disadvantage for me, since my opening attack strategy requires for me to have all three birds active. If the enemy starts first, they almost always gang up on my weakest team member and KO him.
Also, some opposing teams seem to fill their rage chili very quickly, as they’ll suddenly unleash a rage attack in mid-battle… which always induces an eyeroll from me, as it’s like they’re wasting my time trying to prolong what I hope to turn into a victory for my own team.
Enemy Matildas (especially Druids) are especially annoying too, as they tend to spend most of the battle healing and generally undoing any damage I’ve doing and stringing things out even longer. I often end up targeting them in frustration just to get them to shut up!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12It was not the Stun emblem, that’s all I know.
And when I tap-held down on the banner, the information said nothing about it having a stun ability.
I don’t recall seeing any Rage Shields active – anyway, what good is that ability anyway? I never use it myself! Chuck’s offensive move is always far more effective for me, especially if Cap’n Bomb’s had a chance to whip up his attack strength.
And my birds were both stunned (and in the same turn, typical of my kind of luck) – Chuck was KOed already, the Blue Spies were stunned after attacking and Bomb was stunned just after unleashing a rage-attack.
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Can anybody explain this issue for me?
Just now I lost a battle, although I did have the upper-hand for a couple of turns. The only reason I lost (apart from the opposing team being quite strong anyway) was because both my birds that were still standing at the time were inexplicably stunned after attacking the banner? Now why does this randomly happen with certain teams I’m up against even where the “Stun” emblem isn’t actually displayed? It feels like cheating to me when my birds get stunned for 2-3 turns for no clear reason…
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Guess it’s a chance to play catch-up anyway. I fell down last week because it gave me two class-specific objectives (using Seadog and Sculkers) and I’ve still not saved up enough Lucky Coins to buy those yet!
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else before, but this weeks league line-up seems to have given me a “bye” in the PvP Arena Battles.
I appear to be the only person participating in Stone League in my group, meaning that whether I was gaining many or few points from battles, I’m still #1
Not that I’m complaining; it only means I’ll win by default and go up to Silver next week, but it seems strange… I can’t be the ONLY Stone League player here?
Daniel Normington@daniel-normington-12Ever had one of those days where you just want to cry “foul” on the Arena battles? (Pun not intended)
If I had one victory, I was lucky. Otherwise, I lost all three banners in three straight battles against teams I ought to have been able to beat, and that was even despite restarting the game to avoid a ridiculously strong team with three Class 10 birds! And I never even got to complete even one objective… I feel robbed! :(
I hope it’s not just me. I mean, Paladin Red, Cap’n Bomb and Spy Blues are usually strong for me.- Author
