Bubbley
@bubbley@graugeist not my method. As I said there is more than one way to beat the GP.
MVNLA2
@mvnla2@KerrAvon — I’m level 41
My Sea Dog is level 9, the best set I have for him is sugar rush. With that he does
1091 damage with 2237 health. His gang up attack gives him an extra attack more or less every other turn. The set bonus is 15% chance to heal all birds by 50% of dealt damage. I have off-hand items that increase health by 22, but they don’t have the set bonus.
My Skulkers is level 6, so I don’t really think you’re interested in his stats.
I have a friend who has a level 9 Skulkers with beep attack. His stats are
985 damage with 30% damage for 2 turns and 2047 health.
If he uses his tricksy trick on himself, the additional damage of 30% applies to all the opponents. You can also use his tricksy trick on other birds that have a side effect (like Druid). Beep attack says the set bonus is 45% chance to deal 25% bonus to all opponents; however, I’ve heard that it has been watered down, or it this the watered down version. I don’t have the beep attack set.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@mvnla2 Thanks, I just needed the values for estimating damage. Since you have all the birds, you can give these methods a go. I have some numbers now, so I can at least get a better estimation of the damage.
I believe @killerkea has pretty much given away his strategy on the new pirates topic. I believe this is killerkea’s strategy (because I don’t think he has Skulkers – but I can’t be sure).
You need Marksman, Wizard and Sea Dog.
Attach Sea Dog to Marksmen
Fire Marksmen at the target (golden pig)
Give Wizard the chilli
In the end, Sea Dog gets 4 attacks (2 attached to Marksmen, 2 by himself) (all with the bonus damage from Marksmen’s volley attack)
Marksmen get 2 attacks (1 with the bonus damage)
Wizard gets 2 attacks (both with the bonus damage)There is another variation on this where you use Skulkers in place of Marksmen (you have Skulkers weakspot in place of Marksmen’s volley).
This is probably what @bubbley is doing. If he has something different – I’d be interested to know.As far as I can tell, there are essentially 3 methods – the one mentioned by @graugeist, plus these 2. They all rely on giving the chilli to the Wizard and using one of the blue birds. I don’t have Sea Dog or Skulkers, so I can only use the first.
CrumpledStories
@crumpledstoriesI see the letter GP mentioned a few times in this thread, what does it stand for? Golden Pig? If so, how does this relate to mastery? I thought one cannot replay the daily golden pig levels?
ToothGnasher
@toothgnasher@kerravon – Just tried the Dog/Mark/Wiz Strategy.
SeaDog 10: Rock+Scissors 1368 damage (borrowed), 2237 health
Marksman 9: Beep Attack 2×357 Damage, 2047 health
wiz 10: No set 874 damage to first target, 1714 healthOn Cave 12-10 the Undead Bone Hunter has 59850 health. After attack he has 48144 health and his Kobold friend dead. That’s OVER 12,000 total damage including the 897 damage to the Kobold. Unfortunately, Wizard, SeaDog and Marksman cannot survive to the end even after dealing such great damage because Mr. Undead deals 2016 damage every two turns.
If he targets Wizard he’s dead and the party is quickly over – He seems to almost always target Wizard though. Thunderbird9, Skulkers9, Bard10 were able to finish off Mr. Undead with about a dozen potions.
KillerKea
@killerkeaMy Sea Dog is level 41 mastery level 8, but he does 1113 damage and has 2113 health or less depending on how I want to use him. I also have items that can improve health a little or decrease it different amounts since I have multiple versions of Paper. I also have a weapon the Hocus Pokus ability. It lowers his damage to 1081, but having him heal himself is very useGil when I can’t prevent him from getting attacked. I usually equip with Candy Bomb and Paper since I have no sets for him. My set items are level 33 or lower so MVNLA2 must have a fairly old Candy Bomb. I don’t have Skulkers or Thunder bird.
@kerravon You are close on your estimate, but the Marksmen only get 2 attacks and only one has bonus damage. Whichever bird is in the bottom slot only gets one attack when using Speed of Light. In the pirates event I said to use Wizard, Spies and Sea Dog. The Marksmen aren’t as useful against enemies with immunity.Believe it or not Chuck’s Speed of Light is not always the best skill to use for dishing out massive amounts of damage. When I explained how to use a better team that didn’t contain Chuck that could easily dish out 20k+ damage in the first round against a group of enemies that’s when Rovio freaked out and nerfed 2 of Bomb’s and 1 of Blue’s sets.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@toothgnasher That’s pretty good. Just need 4 more rounds.
I have been thinking of another variation on this strategy. I am not sure how useful it would be. If you use Bard (maybe with nightmare set) or Samurai (with hammer set) instead of Sea Dog – with the additional attacks from the chilli you may be able to get close to a guaranteed stun every round. But you need the stun, since there is no healing. Then you could just keep eating chilli cakes and go on attacking.
GrauGeist
@graugeistChuck is great against multiple enemies. In SRC, I usually potion Blues for the automatic stun and debuff.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea My fault. It is so long since I used black bird – I haven’t used him in the caves. I thought he always sat at the bottom of the screen in a group, and hence he would get the single attack from chuck’s rage chilli. I guess blues are at the bottom. I fixed my previous post.
You have a couple versions of paper but no rock. I have a couple versions of rock but no paper!! Oh well, but I am still happy enough with my multiple beep sets – even if they are nerfed.
KillerKea
@killerkeaI mentioned a couple teams that concentrated on stunning a long time ago when someone couldn’t figure out how to beat Lawrence in Cave 5. At the time a max level elite Paladin using Devotion wasn’t able to survive an attack unless he had damage reduction items. Later on when I got to cave 5 I discovered you could beat Lawrence using just 2 birds and no consumables, but you need 3 birds if you want to 3 star it.
Bard w/Nightmare, Samurai w/Grand Slam and either Lightning Bird or Marksmen can take out any boss that doesn’t have immunity.
When using Lightning Bird on the Samurai you get a lot of stuns and the 2 round stun is especially useful. Marksmen kills the boss quicker and guarantees a stun every round since you can use the chili on him, but you’ll probably need to use more veggie cakes. Using chili on the Lightning Bird when both the Samurai and Bard fail to stun results in a lot of stuns. Both teams can 3 star most of the bosses and the team with Lightning Bird can do it without using consumables.
KerrAvon
@kerravonI don’t use Facebook, so I can’t use this approach for the cave bosses.
But I tried it in the maelstrom. I took samurai with half the grand slam set (the stunning hammer), bard with the nightmare set and wizard. It was amazing how many rounds I failed to stun the poisidon pig, even with chuck having the chilli. It was much quicker and easier when I took Marksmen instead of bard. Because of the extra damage I did it quicker, still got a couple of stuns and I needed fewer potions and chilli’s.
Zack Voyager
@zackvoyager@kerravon Sorry but the combo knight(slam set)+wizard(twin set)+princess(nightmare) is much more useful because Matilda makes PosPig attack red and chuck makes it stunned for ≈ 85% chance due to the fact that PP attacks 5 times (5*104). Red should protect himself, reducing
the damage to 5*46. Princess heals Red and use RC only on Chuck.Note : I’ve heated this level easily with 2 stars at level 18 using this combo, and using 0 potions.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@zackvoyager You have come in at the end of a discussion.
We hijacked this thread for a discussion on doing maximum damage to a single opponent in one round. Look back over the previous couple of pages.
The samurai, wizard, marksmen set can do over 8,000 pts of damage (I’m level 41 with mastery levels of 6-7). You attack with marksmen, then give a chilli to chuck, and finish with samurai. Giving the hammer to Samurai gives him a reasonable chance to knock out poisidon pig. This method takes out the pig in 5 rounds. But of course it costs a few chilli cakes.
I have used a similar method to what you suggest, although I hadn’t considered wizards ability to knock out an opponent. Interesting.
KillerKea
@killerkeaFor Maelstrom using the Wizard’s energize is a good way to stun and build up your rage chili. I like using the Mage’s Shock Shield instead since that does about 3,000 damage each round and you still have a chance to get the bonus of the Nightmare damage from the stun as well if you are using Princess with Nightmare.
The stun crew is not nearly as strong if you don’t have both Grand Slam and Nightmare because you don’t have the 2 round stun. Just using Ligthning bird, Samurai and Bard with complete sets you stun 53.3% of the time for 1 or more rounds, 39.3% for 2 rounds. If the enemy is stunned for 2 rounds, then you don’t need a successful strike the next round, but have a 39.3% chance for a successful 2 round stun to give you another free round where you don’t need a successful strike. When using the chili on chuck you will stun 72.0% of the time for 1 or more rounds and 53.7% for 2 rounds. You can often build up your rage chili when the opponent is stunned so you don’t need to use many veggie cakes. If you want to really change the odds to your favor, just restart the battle until you get a successful 2 round stun where you didn’t need to use the chili. I have a mastery level 8 Bard with an old Nightmare set and mine does 1120 damage in Nightmare.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea I only have half the grand slam set. So I was working with the 72% chance of a stun. I assumed the chances were better, but I agree with your calculation. That’s the number I got.
GrauGeist
@graugeistHmm…. I have both Grand Slam and Nightmare. I wonder if I should switch from SRC to Maelstrom.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea I have noticed that when I use nightmare set, and a bird other than Matilda stuns an opponent (e.g. blue birds using egg surprise), then the set bonus still applies to them (i.e. they get the 200 % damage bonus, based on Matilda’s attack value).
Does the same apply with Red’s Grand Slam set. If in this case the Wizard achieves a stun effect, does the 2 round stun for the Grand Slam set apply?
Edit: I can answer the question for the Wizard – the Wizards stun already lasts for 2 turns.
GrauGeist
@graugeistWhatever causes the last Stun wins. If Red Grand Slam stuns for 2, and then Matilda Stuns for 1, then result is Stun 1, not Stun 2. Red’s 2-round stun only applies if Red stuns.
If the target is stunned, Nightmare applies.
So it should be Grand Slam + Nightmare + Chuck (or Blues for Egg Surprise).
KerrAvon
@kerravon@graugeist I understand that if there are multiple stuns, then the effects of the last stun apply. But what if you don’t bring nightmare. If you just have Grand Slam set and Matilda stuns with one of her harps, does the set effect take over?
I know with the nightmare set that is what happens, but is it the same for the Grand Slam set?
Anonymous
@kerravon No the set effect doesn’t take over because it needs Demise for it to be a set. Without it its just a stun.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@partshade I think you have missed the point of my question, or I need to explain it more clearly.
Firstly, consider if you take Matilda into a battle with the Nightmare set with Blues and another bird who can’t stun. If on one turn you use Matilda to heal and you use Blues Egg Surprise to stun an opponent, the Nightmare effect still applies to the stunned opponent (even though Matilda did not attack and cause the stun). The stunned opponent will take 200% bonus damage (this value is still based on Matilda’s attack strength). I have the nightmare set and can verify that this is what happens.
My question was that if change your bird party to have Red with the Grand Slam set instead of Matilda – then, if Red is busy shielding for a turn and you use Blues Egg Surprise to damage and stun etc, then does the 2 turn stun effect of the Grand Slam set take effect.
I don’t have the Grand Slam set and so cannot determine is this is what actually happens.
Anonymous
@kerravon Ok I understand you now. Because you said that I took Knight with Grand Slam, Wizard and Rogues to Bamboo Forest. I put Cupcake Trap on Knight and shielded him. Mandarin attacked him and got stunned for 2 turns so yes it does work.
Anonymous
You know. This is actually a great new strategy for people. The ultimate stunning combo would be Rogues Bard with a harp or Doom and Samurai with a hammer or Titans Wraith or better Grand Slam!
KerrAvon
@kerravon@partshade Wizards description says that his stun is also for 2 turns. You will have to try a different stun attack to confirm this – such as Blues egg surprise.
