Bubbley
@bubbleyI am not as big a fan of SRC as others seem to be. However my current mission is to add mastery to Thunderbird, Skulkers and Seadog. I used this combination for SRC and found it worked remarkably well. Yes there is no healer but my birds have been near death rarely and they have never died. I used the 10 wave battles in the caves to push Paladin Wizard and Spies, my most used birds, to 10. I got through the first 11 caves without friends so they hold no fear for me. I prefer playing with friends it is much more fun but not essential for achieving mastery.
KillerKea
@killerkea@mvnla2 I just took out a GP that had 9405 health in the first round so yes it seems like I can take out all the GPs in one round. I’m reluctant to post how to do this because last time I posted one of the most effective killing crews you could create Rovio nerfed all of Bomb’s sets and Blue’s BEEP attack set less than a week later.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea I am pretty sure I know what combination you use. I do something similar to take out wiz pig in SRC, with about 8,000 pts in one round. But I don’t have sea dog. I assume you have a golden chilli?
MVNLA2
@mvnla2@killerkea — I just sent you a new friendship request, because I’d love to know what team you used without Rovio finding out.
Bubbley
@bubbley@mvnla2 I am level 41. I don’t play the caves on auto play. Yes I have often used Paldin Wizard Spies. Paldin is my favourite bird so he gained 10 before the others. I have borrowed Paladin since then to give my other birds more play time. I mostly play cave 9 because there is no serious danger there. I also play caves 12 and 10. 11 for Druid and Rainbird. Since Spies and Wizard reached 10 it is becoming more difficult using just my other birds. I only play levels 9, 8 and 5. These are all 10 wave battles. I work my birds as much as possible but the dojo seems to favour some. I bought Seadog after the Dragons and Puzzles event and although I have used him and used him he is still level 8 with 10,000 to go to reach 9. Lightening Bird which I don’t think I have ever used has only 4000 to reach 9. I have never used Priest but she has only 8000 to reach 9. Cleric which I haven’t used since the beginning of the game has only 400 to reach 9. Just the way it goes I guess.
burbman
@burbmanI have been playing battles with my three weakest birds in an attempt to bring them all up to max level. It gives me an opportunity to play with different combinations than I would normally try, and has taught me how to best use some of the headgear that I use the least frequently. Need to get Knight and Thunderbird up to level 9, then I can bring them all up to ten together.
KillerKea
@killerkea@mvnla2 It isn’t too hard to figure out what 3 birds I’m using. From KerrAvon’s response above I’m sure he already knows. Just ask yourself which 3 birds have the skills to do the most damage when fighting a single enemy.
@kerravon Yes, the golden chili is required.Assuming I didn’t get any bonuses from my items and didn’t use the golden chili I’d only do 2928 damage in the first round, but with the golden chili and again assuming no bonuses from my set items I do 8974 damage so the golden chili effectively triples the damage I do in the first round. Of course many sets and set items give you as much as a 45% chance to do additional damage so it is highly unlikely I won’t get a bonus of some sort. When I get better items and higher mastery I will be able to do over 10k damage in the first round every time. Currently my best set weapon is level 33.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea and @mvnla2 I am happy to follow your lead and not reveal anything. But the key is the abilities of 2 birds. I am not sure they would nerf these abilities in the same way they did with the set items. But who knows for sure. I believe the third bird can be one of a number, including one of the pig allies.
Last night I thought I’d give it a go with the golden pig. I don’t have the golden chilli yet, so I ate 2 chilli cakes and sure enough was able to take him down in one turn. I can’t recall the no. of hp of the pig – but he was from day 1.
KillerKea
@killerkeaI think the health of the pig is random, but maybe there is a tendency for the pig to get tougher each day until day 7. There is a definite correlation between your level and the pigs health and it seems like it might get more health the higher your mastery levels are too, but the golden pig is easy to 3 star so I never paid too much attention to its health.
I wasn’t the first one to sing the praises of the Grand Slam set combined with the Nightmare set, but after I did they nerfed the Nightmare set by reducing the bonus damage by more than 75%. Fortunately I and a lot of other people complained about that nerf and they un-nerfed the Nightmare set later on.
Bubbley
@bubbleyWell I wish people would complain about beep and scissors if that’s what I takes! Sorry – if that’s what it takes!
Bubbley
@bubbley@kerravon, @killerkea, @mvnla2 I would guess that my method is completely different but without bonuses using mastery 9 9 8, my sets are not new one at least is pre level 29, basic damage is 3986. With chili and without bonus 9613 with bonus anything over 11272. So there are clearly many ways to beat the GP in one round.
MVNLA2
@mvnla2@kerravon, @killerkea @bubbley — The health of the GP increases monotonically day by day and also with your experience level. Like you I haven’t paid a lot of attention to the exact numbers, so not sure if there is a random component. I’m level 41, and the GP today had about 7900 health, and he was day 3 or 4.
burbman
@burbman@mvnla2 – I do not focus on any one battle to gain mastery. I start in South Beach and play each level until I spin the top prize on the wheel, then move on to the next one. I have spun for Black and Blue mastery after pretty much every event, so my weakest birds are Red White and Yellow. I still have two level 8 birds, but that should change soon as both Knight and Thunderbird are very close to leveling up. Periodically I will check to see if one of the headgear I am using for Matilda has passed any of the others, and change my lineup accordingly. This usually happens after my visit to the dojo.
Bubbley
@bubbley@mvnla2 actually I do pay attention to the health of the GP. To day was day 6 tomorrow he will be stronger. I will let you know.
@burbman I think it’s a wise move to try to level all birds at once. My 3 favourites are 10 and since I don’t play them I find the dungeons tough. I also wouldn’t want to repeat some cave battles. I’ve learned my lesson and am trying to keep the others more or less equal. On the plus side necessity, as we all know, is the mother of invention so I’ve learned a fair bit.
GrauGeist
@graugeistIf I primarily play Paladin, Wizard & Spies, then I have no shame in leveling them higher than the rest. I can always tag others in, once I get the core to Level 9.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@bubbley @mvnla2 I suggest your method is not that different to the method(s) @killerkea and myself have been using. I am now not sure that @killerkea and I use the exact same method.
At the centre, which I think has to be obvious to everyone, is giving a chilli to chuck. I don’t think there is any combination of +60% damage, +30% damage, etc that when combined can cause the same damage as achieved by giving a chilli to chuck. @killerkea, I hope revealing this doesn’t bother you, but I think it is pretty obvious. @bubbley, if your method is different then say so.
I won’t mention the other birds required. But I know of 2 strategies that can help to achieve 8,000+ damage.
My birds are only in the class range 6-7, and I can get approx. 8,400 damage without damage bonuses. I think the damage could be quite a bit higher, but I don’t have appropriate set items / weapons available to gain damage bonuses to achieve the maximum possible damage.
GrauGeist
@graugeistMarksman + Golden Chili + Samurai / Cannoneer. Not that complicated, or a secret.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@graugeist It is pretty obvious for those of us who use marksman. But he gets very few mentions on this site, so many probably haven’t even considered him.
You can also add prince porky as an alternative to samurai for those who use pig allies. I have used the combination of rainbird, marksman (with the correctly scaled weapon) and either prince porky or pigiana (for his counterattack) against ninja.
Recently I have used this combination against the big thug type pigs in cave 11. You need a golden chilli, or a couple chilli cakes, to get started and can take them all down before they get off a shot.
KillerKea
@killerkea@graugeist I’ve actually mentioned that combo a couple times before, but it isn’t the best. It is just a combo with birds that most people have. Before they switched from veteran, elite and master to using mastery levels and raised the max level of birds I was doing 6000-6800 with elite birds that I think were level 29.
Rovio is a bit unpredictable because for 3 months or more people were talking about how to exploit the golden pig for a free set item every day and they did nothing to stop it, but once someone explains an effective strategy on using some sets they quickly nerf those items.
KerrAvon
@kerravon@killerkea I hadn’t done the calculations on paper before for what I thought you were doing – just in my head. I originally thought your method was on par with the combination mentioned by @graugeist, but I had missed one attack in the my calculations. Writing down the numbers I can see your method does in the region of 1,000 hp more damage. This is based on my current mastery levels and will scale up accordingly with higher mastery levels.
I assume you have started using this method with the golden pig because you have recently acquired or are making use of the golden chilli.
KillerKea
@killerkeaI quickly realized the power of using the chili on Chuck so the golden chili was the first thing I bought in this game with my LC. It is funny how many people would argue against buying it. Several versions ago you could use the golden chili to earn snoutlings at the rate of 3000/hr in WCP. I later switched to WizPig castle and earned about the same until they nerfed that too. Now the best place for snoutlings is SRC.
GrauGeist
@graugeistI don’t understand how Rovio does such a poor job of balancing the Castles and Dungeons and stuff in this game. It’s like they don’t have metrics to track what people are doing?
