About the Angry Birds 2 Arena

I’ve come to realize that nothing makes sense in this game. Birds are no longer becoming effective on their structures, have to bring in spells to keep up with streak 1 round, hats/no hats players, indestructible micro pigs.

This is my tournament…Very competitivethis week and sadly have to keep up with cheaters. So I can start acquiring cowboy hats. Like the guy in 2nd place. He had 632 stars (4th place) BEFORE I started a streak. Right after I finished and won (like 3-4 min later), he miraculously shot up by 700 stars with NO increase in his star rank. Sounds fishy, since 70-71 would require 360 to rank up? That and Swoosh being in a different league.

While I love AB2, it’s NOT what it used to be anymore. New elder cards promotes frustrating rounds, 40 level pack in a chapter seems to large. As for now, I won’t even bother with 3rd place. Not going to bother spending money to catch up to these guys I DO want the azure sling but sheesh, this will take me months :(

@jon3800 Upgrading is not a good idea in this game. I had level 8-9 birds and on the hard streaks, although still random according to Rovio, they would put me up against level 10-11 birds. I got 1 bird to level 10 and now those harder streaks opponents all of a sudden have level 13 birds.

And talk about weak birds, just slung Blue at ice, and he bounced off from a direct hit barely chipping it, and Rovio says the game is not rigged.

Upgrading works for me and I can’t remember the last unintentional loss I had In the Arena…..Azure SS FTW!

As to the birds, I agree, they all seem much weaker these days :/

This all started yesterday sometime around mid-afternoon (sad that I can actually pinpoint when I noticed the change in game dynamics).

Structures not falling down anymore- they seem to be imploding into themselves now to create more barriers made of junk piles (just to obscure your shots for something behind it)
Birds not breaking materials of their specialty anymore.
Micropigs abound, and the instance of them rolling into cracks/unreachable areas/tucked against walls blocked by your shot has been cranked up 100%. Yesterday while playing this happened to me on 3 rooms in a row >:(

Oh and something super annoying I noticed in the Arena… getting the same room + same structures 2x – 3x in a row (to exhaust the birds that can take it down the first time and Rovio to stick it to you for the following rooms).

Again, never have I seen a company achieving such delight in taking cheap shots at its player base. :(

And again: ARE MY OPPONENT AND MYSELF EVEN PLAYING THE SAME GAME??? How come my bird stops dead hardly wrecking anything (on a single tower in the first screen) and my opponent can manage 1,500,000+ pts??? Things don’t add up…

And one more time: WHY DOES MY OPPONENT’S SCORE CONTINUE TO CLIMB LONG AFTER THEY PLAY THEIR FINAL CARD??? (eg when I play MY final card their score goes up….)

@chucky-2 If you know something about the game that the rest of us should know why don’t you share it? I have done the math in the arena for the streak and I don’t see any advantage in intentionally losing during the streak…

I must have hit a new level of difficulty this week. The top 5 players in my league are so far ahead of me if I played every 3 hours until the end of the week I still would not make the top 3.

I don’t know “something that the rest of us should know”, but I know how I play my game to get a large score…..so using 7 tickets to win 3 tickets doesn’t make sense against using 4 tickets to win 3 (plus one to intentionally lose) total 5 tickets.

That puts you out ahead by 2 tickets every single time by not playing the full streak, and with those additional tickets it leads to more free tickets in the long run.

Steps 5, 6 and 7 are just a complete waste of your tickets when that is 3 tickets that could be used to get more tickets……

Try it for yourself if you don’t believe me. A max of 40 points from 2 tickets (after free tickets accounted for) makes more sense than a max of 70 points from 4 tickets (after free tickets accounted for) wouldn’t you say???

I don’t know where the other player came from since no one was close a few hours ago, but I am now 6th from 5th 4 hours ago with no chance of advancing, so now I gotta play just to hold on to my measly 10 gems for the week.

Until this week I have never did worse than 3rd and even I wasn’t the winner, if someone had just over 500 stars they could win the week. All of a sudden this week I have 430 stars for 6th place and 1st place has 875 stars. If this becomes the new norm at my level I will play the regular game and try the daily challenges but I don’t play enough to compete with 800+ stars in the Arena. Especially when I lose so many rounds because my birds are useless against any material, even the ones they were designed to destroy.

That’s right, the birds do much less damage than before.
Especially the stone destructors Bomb and Silver!

But the first time for weeks, number one of the tournament has a realistic score under 1000 stars.

Definitely not gonna advance, can’t get into the Arena, I am getting “connection error” but I just watched a video for a chest so I know I have a connection.

I think you should start get used to high scores from now on. Before you could win the arena with 500 points and with 200 you were comfortable and safe, not moving down. Nowadays you need definitely way more than 1000 points (in some cases even more than 2000!!!). For instance. I am 4th in my league with 720 points when the 3rd has 922 the 2nd 1275 and the 1st 1621!!! How can somebody beat that? It’s impossible!!!
I don’t believe the first 3 are cheaters (at least their stats look normal to me) but I wonder how the heck got so many points. Paying for tickets? No idea…
Another thing is why Rovio doesn’t give the player the choice to choose which bird will use in a level rather than giving him 3 random choices (and in some cases none of the 3 birds is suitable for the level). Is it so hard to think about that?

First in my league is someone named Fred with 1905 stars. 1905! with a gold slingshot.

Second, Mutsuko with 1499 stars with a bronze slingshot

Third, Bomb #18765 with 1444 stars and an azure slingshot…. really?

Fourth “Crash” with 1144 and an azure slingshot.

Wow, I guess azure slingshots must be easy to get since everyone in top place has one. Looks like I don’t stand a chance of ever winning the Arena anymore! This is such bullsh*t.

Well they wouldn’t even let me hold on to 10 gems, I was way ahead of 7th place but somehow in the last 3 hours someone managed to pass me knocking me into 7th and a whole 5 gems. @mad4paok if you are right I will quit the Arena, like I said, I don’t play enough to even compete with those kind of scores.

With 30 seconds left, I was in 3rd place by a large margin. When I was able finally to get back in, all of the top 3 were moved down 1 place by a player that surpassed the former first place player by a lot. Not sure where that player came from but he wasn’t in the mix until the last few seconds. Dropped in from another league? I’m not even going to contact Rovio about this because I’ll just get another shoulder shrug and another lame-ass explanation that makes absolutely no sense.

Well NO one gets demoted. People report this every week. “Was in 14th place and didn’t get demoted guess they aren’t doing that.” Well guess what! THE BASTARDS DEMOTED ME THIS WEEK. I barely played because, well we ll know why – Rovio has made the arena miserable and I hate it. Then on Friday I played up from 15 to 12. Then Saturday I lived my life and honestly forgot ALL about Angry Birds. Yay me. Then just now (11:45pm EST) I check. Got pushed to 13th place by a disgruntled person I passed, and there it was. Demoted to Amythest. You know, if a player makes it to Diamond it should lock. Everything before the end you have danger of demotion but once you reach the top you stay. Old arena I had hope. Obviously, as I made it to Diamond.) Now? There’s not a chance in HELL I will EVER win enough to advance again. Unless I want to spend money, of course. And the transparent greed rears it’s ugly head again. Well, Rovio. You won. This demotion is the first step toward deletion. Unless I wake up one day this week like Shirley Temple in The Little Princess where she’s living in a dirty cold attic and one morning there appears an abundant buffet of food and drink (my buffet is a promotion back to Diamond, a stash of the good spells that disappeared – peppers and sardine cans) and an unlimited lifetime supply of coins… then I’m done. @hank

Guess I will have to abdicate to the players willing and able to play every 3 hours or spend money. I am not willing to do either so I relinquish my throne. I will play out the week and if I get another lousy showing I will move on from the Arena, not worth all the crap they do to the game for 5 gems.

Just hours into the new week and the birds are still weak, opponents are getting double same birds, and the top scores are already getting unreachable, got a gravity generator level and the generators aren’t even collapsing the structures like they did before, too much rigging of the game for it to be enjoyable any more.

@maiasatara @heybert17 I took a new approach for last week and I’m going to continue it for a long time to come. I’m just playing the DC and collecting all the free stuff. I’m just keeping myself in the diamond league barely. I’m only playing once every 3 hours as I can but hoarding the video free ticket. I’m playing the streaks to keep my birds in the position to level up to the next card to come (16). I’m in no hurry to level up my slingshot because I’m only being pitted against the same slingshot. I will also continue to enjoy the normal campaign as the levels become available. I don’t intend to spend another red copper cent trying to keep up with addicted fools that throw away their hard earned cash on this pitiful excuse of a game (“THE ARENA”). If you save everything for a year or so, when you decide to play in the arena again you should be a force to be reckoned with. In the mean time we can exploit every weakness of the game as they screw it up worse with every update. Hopefully rovio continues to try and keep the cheaters out going forward. They wouldn’t have that problem if they hadn’t created a game that makes people wait long periods of time between or pay up to play. It’s almost an elitist approach.

@davetv: I have been doing the same thing. The Arena is a mess and I won’t compete in it until they get it straightened out. Regular level play and the DC are far more enjoyable. However, for the last two days the Free Play isn’t free and eats up the tickets I have managed to accrue. And the videos have not worked for the same period of time.

Is anyone else experiencing this??

I have been getting my free bird/s with no real dramas. If I load the arena and it only shows me in the tournament (and nobody else), that is when it hasn’t loaded properly due to server issues at Rovio’s end, so I simply either back out and then back into arena, or I simply reload the game.

Eventually it will show the tournament I am in correctly (with all of the other players) and that is usually when the free bird video is available, and I watch it and get the bird.

Sounds like you are going through some major drama @klm13, hope rovio can get it fixed for you as there is no doubt there is something a little wrong with the server load this week.

@chucky-2: I don’t even attempt to play if I’m the only one showing in the tournament. I close the app and re-open. This has been happening to me when everything appears normal. When I play my Free Entry, it takes one of my tickets. When I play a free bird video, I get a blank screen and the close button, no other options (both in and outside of the Arena). No videos working at all. Anywhere.

Supremely annoying.
