About the Angry Birds 2 Arena

Judging by the end of tournament placement Rovio should be noticing that people are barely playing. Instead, for the start of the new week, EVERY MATCH IS A NAIL-BITER! Starting right out of the gate. By the third match (aka the magic loss match) I had the “one pig out of reach of any bird that game deigns me worthy of receiving. All while my opponent gets duplicate bombs and yellows.

For several weeks now there’s an inequality in bird card earning. If we see the match progress bird-by-bird, regardless of knowing in which ROOM our opponent uses them, and I am ahead by 1.5-2M points, then when I show two birds remaining HOW DOES MY OPPONENT ALWAYS HAVE 3? They should have not been earning more because I’m significantly ahead in points, and we aren’t at the “last bird thrown and now my opponent uses a video bird.” Oh no, because that comes, too! And they get a million points with a bomb (to my blues against stone) and then they EARN another bird and get a million with IT. Now my last three have been USELESS even if it’s the “right” bird for the structure. Then my video bird earns 2M and I miraculously win. That actually happens but most often I just get useless birds. I really want to know how, bird for bird me winning, opponent has more. That just doesn’t work. Neither does every match from 1 being like a match 7 opponent. Not when I’m used to 9-10 in the first 4 rounds. The hits keep coming.

You state that RANDOMNESS is one of the attributes of the game.

Specific question:
In Arena, the third game of the streak is ALWAYS and for EVERYONE the hardest one to play and you ALWAYS face a higher level opponent.
Would that not be: “Tweaking the randomness of our run”?

New Arena week and I was in first place with a modest 30-star lead. Played level two, to see that someone has come from NOWHERE with a 108-star lead, knocking my 64 stars into second place. Grrr to that.

@psygaz Funny I was just coming here to mention in the last 3 hours someone came from nowhere to take 1st place in my Arena with, surprise, 108 stars. Squeek, 2nd place also came from nowhere with 56 stars, Bonnie Von Squeek. I was in 2nd, now a very distant 4tt.

Just played a game. Chuck was able to break 1 thin wooden board before bouncing off a wooden structure and Red could shake but not topple a single row 5 level structure. Grey broke 1 block before falling helpless. Yeah, I lost.

edit: 3 hours later, 152 leads and I am now down to 8th place, buried by a lot less than half a day into the week. Guess they thought last week was too easy since I pulled it out on the last day since the leader didn’t play at all the last 2 days.

Yep, 108, and as you can see you posted just minutes before I came here about the exact same thing, the person was nowhere on the list until they were in 1st place.

Streak 3 is okay for me if I bring in 5 spells but streak 1 is for me NUTS. I usually reserve my spells for streak 3-7. My flock has 3 birds at lvl 15 the rest at 14 with a complete set of street hats and here I am constantly being outmatched by 2-4 million points from a person that has much lower powered birds (mixed between 12 and 14). How are they able to score 9-10 million points is my question without spells? The bloated scores that plagued the update before the loss spells is back.

New tournament has started yesterday and I have the exact same people in my league….I know how this is going to go :(

@kedik22 I have the same experience. I never play beyond level 2 in the streak without at least 3 spells. Even then sometimes it’s a nail biter at the end. I have the same opinion it’s just as bad now as it was before.

I have the same people in my league this time too. I don’t ever remember that happening before. Hmm! Maybe we’re the only ones left playing the game! LOL!

For me I have to post the image somewhere on the web then get the address and insert it into the “img” option. It can be a bit of a pain, if someone knows an easier way please pass it along.

@davetv @heybert17 Go to your profile/album in this forum and you’ll see a button to ‘upload picture’. Once you’ve uploaded, click on the thumb and you’ll see link options. Copy ‘Embed (med)’ and paste it into your message box. I find that the easiest way.

@davetv Psygaz’s method will probably work better but I have 2 facebook pages, I just send the pics to myself in a facebook message then you can right click on the image to get the address. Like I said, the other method will probably be easier.

I agree with everyone who thinks the game is rigged. It was fine three versions ago, then they updated and I could never get past the second tier in the area (free feathers), then the next update happened and it was fine again – I could actually win the 500 feathers tier – now the latest update has me playing against people who are getting 5 million points on the second tier when I’m struggling to get 3 million. I’ve also noticed a big difference in how far I get whether I have been using my WiFi. When I enable WiFi, everything gets harder to make me watch commercials.

This is absolute nonsense. I get how “freemium” games work, but this is beyond stupid.

@psygaz @heybert17 @hank Thanks for the info. Take a look at these screen shots from the end of the tournament yesterday. I couldn’t get back in for over an hour. As I kept trying to get back in I took a screen shot just for laughs but I’m not laughing anymore. I was in 10th place that morning. I spent all day playing and around 9000 gems catching this guy. Needless to say I was pissed when this happened. He is in my new arena this week as well as everybody that was there last week. I’ve never had that happen before either.

The point I was trying to make to @hank is that streak three is ALWAYS harder for EVERYONE, and that is NOT random.

Man, over 2000 stars to win your league, my birds are still 8-9 and I think it is a lot of I have to score over 600 to win, although the leader in my league this week is already over 220 in less than 1 day.

When I win a streak 7 while being outmatched completely bird for bird I take that as me just being a better player. But then when the next game back at streak 1 I lose by a couple million with superior birds because my birds were worthless, something is wrong.

edit: Come back to take on level 1 again and no surprise, once again my birds are very weak.

Edit 2: I was knocked down to 8th again. I finally won streak 1, I had 100 stars, the person in 7th had 102. Somehow while I was playing a round and got 9 stars they managed to get 12 stars to stay ahead of me with 114 stars. This game is so very odd. Also if my birds are all 8 and 9, how is my streak 3 opponent always having 10 and 11 birds a fair fight.

Can you tell why I lost this round on room one. Yep, indestructible micro pig survived a direct hit to fly to an area where no bird could reach him, except Chuck if my aim was perfect, my one attempt the whole round, it was not.

@heybert17 I have been pretty lucky that has not happened to me for a week or so but I have kind of learned which birds I can use to keep it from happening. They say they are going to fix that on the next update. You made a comment about your birds being level 8-9. The way the arena is set up is to force you into spending money. I’m a competitor so I have spent way too much money just to win. When I leveled my birds up to 15 the free chest stopped giving me feathers and very few spells. Instead I get a lot of 3 gem chests. I’ve been playing the game since its inception, for over a year now. My advice to you is be patient and enjoy the game without spending money because if you get to the top it really starts to cost you to be competitive. The last tournament I started on Saturday morning in 10th place and played the hardest I’ve ever played and used 9000 gems to put up around 1700 stars in 12 hours just for the challenge. As I showed in my screen shots at the end of the tournament I won. 30 minutes later while I’m trying to get back in to play they give the win to the other player. With 66 wins I’m satisfied to play without spending anymore money. The hackers along with Rovio have made the game too frustrating for logical people like me. I’ve noticed that there is only a few of us making any posts anymore about the game. Nobody likes to feel cheeted and that’s why the game will continue to lose players because good honest players like us will not continue to be cheeted. Hopefully Rovio will make the game fun again where we all enjoy playing. I thought about contacting Rovio about the loss in the arena last week but I haven’t had very good luck trying to plead my case with them on other issues pertaining to time and money losses due to their poor programming so I’m just holding my tounge about it. It’s always we’re sorry and here’s a hundred gems. Please!!!!

I just was winning #7, got a phone call and when it ended game just not returned to the arena. It always returns when i play campaign or dc. I’m bit disappointed because i lost 500 blue feathers and i think 9 stars.

Ah, all day I’ve been suffering the failure of level three. Plus total failure in Daily Challenge. No pleasure/reward at all. Getting bored because I can’t progress. Once that happens, the rot sets in. Watch out Rovio.

Ever since the arena update (I think the hats one), my opponent’s damage meter always fills up faster than mine (leading to them having more birds), even if they’re behind by several hundred thousand points. Also, when the last bird comes, they’re almost always in a position where they can fill the damage meter and get an extra bird after that. Something doesn’t feel right.

@davetv Interesting to read that you have the same problems, even though you’re msximum level and spending gems like crazy. I’m still only 8/9 level (soon to be 10). I think I’ve spent enough for what a game like this is worth.

Playing the normal levels today reminded me of how pleasing the game can be.
