A good strategy for Angry Birds Surf and Turf level 42 is to send a Red bird through the horizontal wooden blocks left of the first TNT. Detonating that TNT should open a path to the TNT on the bottom of the level. Snipe that with the Yellow bird, and the top tower should topple from the explosion. The score in the video below is 101,150.

This level is different on Android than on FB. The towers are 3 blocks high.
On Android:
Left tower is tall wood (beside the tnt), tall wood, short cement going up
Right tower is tall wood (bedide the tnt), tall cement, short cement going up.
(Finally) Got my 3 stars with a score of 100,940. Guessing they lowered the 3 star threshold due to the reduction of blocks around the tnt.
Finally got 3* following video! (101460). Watched the video umpteen times. Some additional tips:
Getting the RD to bounce and break the plank is tricky (at least for me); notice that it hits the top left surface of the plank. YB needs to hit low on the TNT to make explosion go up. Good luck!
Also, there were several times when I could swear that I got both bottom pigs (and all the rest), but level still failed. Is there a hidden pig somewhere?
It’s a fairly oblique shot for the red bird to hit. Essentially, the best way to aim for it is to aim for the left end of the horizontal wood plank, similar to the shallow angle shots for AB:R Jungle Escape 4-12.
Also used video strat to get above average (105K). I haven’t been able to get @tigers-nana‘s strat to work, although I’ve come close a couple of times.
Yes, I grew to dislike that far right little piggie.
But then I got to finally kill him and felt much better about the whole thing.
@mvnla2 – it’s not your imagination. If some debris hits the piggies on the bottom lightly (especially the little right one), they actually get buried underneath the mud without you getting the 5K. Quite frustrating, especially when you get nice destruction.
I can confirm the 3- star threshold is 100k. My previous score of 96,450 was only 2-star. I’ll see if I can’t narrow that just a bit.
Managed to clear this level with 2 birds – RB over to dynamite in upper right box, which set off the dynamite in the left upper box. RB squeezed down the open crack left in the middle, right of the long horizontal metal bar, which set off the dynamite in the middle bottom. Used yellow bird to finish off that pesky green pig, lower right. Had fairly good destruction, but only resulted in 102K, so perhaps this might be a 1-bird strategy. Any tips @ CC Jolly, or anyone??
This is an unstable level. The left side sometimes crumbles. It leaves an open gap for a nice 1 bird solution.
I haven’t experienced any instability….BUT, I did try a new method. Hit RB to the top metal of the left tower, and got a one birdie. And, this is repeatable, I’ve done it 3 times now. I hope this helps someone, because y’all have been good to me, good luck!

Aim for the top metal above the left dynamite, but I’ve also gotten the one bird collapse from hitting the wood underneath. When you get a good hit, the dynamite explodes and debris flies over to the dynamite on the right. Sometimes everything else goes as well, but you can also get the one bird collapse without enough points to earn the 3 stars. Just keep trying; I finally got a great collapse, good destruction, including the bottom blocks on the left! Hope this helps, good luck.
Great strategy , got lucky and recieved 110k + on 2nd 1 birder. Good destruction , but left some blocks on left . Most Of the time this is not going to happen resulting in blocked 2nd shot. You need to put in some time. Thanks
The 1-birder is tough to come by on this one, I had a few that didn’t score particularly well until finally scored 115k. The stone blocks on the bottom left plus the wood structure beside it need to go for a higher score. I also found the large vertical glass block on the right was hard to break & it’s necessary to get proper destruction on the right & the small pig at the bottom. Lots of rinse & repeat. @tigers-nana, I am confused. Here you say aim above the left dynamite, but in your first post you say to aim for dynamite in upper right box. Can you clarify please? Thank you!

I figured I might as well go for the 1-birder as the chances for that seemed to be about the same as getting that bird to hop as in the video. Didn’t get the 1-birder, but did get a nice 2-birder score of 110,190.

Yikes this is a tough one for a 1 birdie! Thanks @tigers-nana for the strat at least I was able to get over avg! Just not as lucky as some of you even after a day and half of trying….sigh….
The 1-Birder eludes me on this one, I’ve had to resort to all 3 birds just to 3 star this episode and it took me almost an hour to do so, maybe later when the little red bird gets constipated and gains some oomph, I’ll be able to raise the score a bit.
I finally caught the 1-Birder, the little Red Bird behaved and performed his duties admirably, I almost went cross eyed just watching him blow up all the TNT and pigs everywhere. This is probably a 1 in a 100 shot, but, it does exist.
Yes, it is possible! 111,460 after trying over and over just to break 100k after having 99,640. Single red into first tower cement blocks and everything went down.
I’d say that there’s a one-birder possibility here. I’ve almost got it a couple of times.
Red into the stone square atop the left tower, just under the top horizontal bar. This should tilt the left tower to the right, setting off the TNT sending the stones into the right tower, setting off that TNT sending debris back to the left making the left section collapse and with luck setting off the low, middle TNT and with more luck clearing the lower right pig with everything else.
My 101400 was most of this but left the vertical wood and glass to the right of the middle TNT. Sent the yellow this way and it went to the bottom and took out the almost hidden pig there.
My highscore for this level is 99,990, unbelievable. I been playing this level for hours, I just need 10 more points.
Finally I got my three stars :-)
First bird on the right path, but missing and not detonating TNT. Instead of restarting the level, I tried with second bird, and found a way to detonate second TNT, forming a chain reaction near a total destruction. Tons of luck. This is my 3rd top score ever, and, I think it will stand for some days, yet!

@gusete – Congrats on your TOP SCORE! Now could you please share your strategy on what you did with the 2nd bird to get the 2nd TNT? Did you go for the bottom TNT or the Top Right TNT? It is nice to share after-all. Thanks!
Thank you, GypsyBird. My strategy for 2nd bird was the same as in the video. But I had missed the first TNT, so all the wooden blocks were in the way. But my second bird reached the TNT, so luckyly that everything collapsed, total destruction except a very few debris. I think sometimes TNTs seem to explode with a higher power. Maybe depends on the speed or the angle of the bird.
There is a sweet spot on that horizontal board. If you get the angle just right, you don’t need to bounce the red bird; he goes through.
Every one of the above strats work, some better than others, but I don’t think it really matters. What you need is luck to get the big bang for a high score.
@ohforfive, you need luck and a lot of coffee ;). I’ve been at 99k for a good long while, time to fill the coffee press. Here goes!
@wanda Thanks for the advice. The Angry Bird Santa took the lump of coal from my stocking on Christmas and gave me a 3-star above average score. I gladly moved on.

Followed the first two birds of Sal’s video above. Got lucky because the first bird opened a clear pathway to the bottom right tnt and was able to create good destruction and get the lower right pig.
