Angry Birds Rio High Dive Walkthrough Level #4

Our strategy for High Dive Level #4 is to release the submerged TNT with a Yellow bird, then blasting the right side of the level with a Black bird. The score in the video below is 140,970.

Has anyone else seen the barrels explode? I’ve been trying to replicate, now starting to wonder if it’s unstable.

dear barrels are not exploding, they just get broken. I it did many times.

@SilverBird — Did you get this again? If the barrels under the right platform explode before you fling a bird, this would be classified as a self-destroying level. Please report any additional data in the forum on self-destroying levels. Please include platform you play on (self-destruction in Rio so far only reported on Android), points before bird flung, time after restart.
If you just comment here, I am likely to miss your comment, unless you @mention me.

You seem to get a higher score if YB cuts the rope holding the TNT down as high as possible, and if the bomb bird hits the stone pillar as low as possible. Detonate near bottom of pillar.

@MVNLA2, thanks for the bottom of the pillar tip!

The trick here is to have Yellow cute the rope so that when the TNT explodes, the whole structure flies up in the air taking a lot above the water out too. Score should be between 70k and 80k. It’s not necessary to cut exactly at the bottom, the fly to the sky explosion is all that matters. This gives the best scores with the underwater structure (rather than the structure just falling downwards to the right). Bomb Bird at the bottom of the pillar, although I’m pretty sure there’s a sweet spot just before the large lower horizontal plank of the right structure

And I believe the fly to the sky explosion is achieved if you send YB quickly. On my Mac it seems if you wait more than a second or so to fire YB the structure will not blow sky high.

There IS a sweet spot for the bomb bird but I haven’t spotted it yet. One time it looked like both barrels blasted, two or three other times a section of the wall exploded.
What makes the first bird score 70+? I looked at length of cord, TNT touching the weeds on the right, and presence of a fish – don’t think any of these are the factor.

Here’s an example doe the sweet spot for bird #2:

I think the sweet spot is the stone where the grass is growing out on the left side of the pillar. If you bomb just before, the whole structure will explode (same “indicator” for sweet spots on level 2 and 3 too).

And now there’s another sweet spot for bird one, though I’m embarrassed I didn’t witness it – it took out the whole right tower, leaving only a fragment of the left one … with one cage left. 117k, and so close to a one birder!
If someone can give me some guidance, @bernersenn or @MVNLA2, I’ll upload a screenshot.

It seems that we’re all having our success using slightly different aiming techniques.

I just managed 161030 on Android phone with my 1st shot not to the top or bottom of the detonator cord, but approx 1/2 way up, after initiating my speed boost a little more than 1/2 way there. Rather than an arced or curved shot, I’d shot in a way that after tapping for speed boost, YB shot straight ahead.

By now you realize that some of these explosions blow “everything” sky high & while my best score after 1st shot had been over 86k, this time it was only 73k. With the TNT released & rising, the lower TNT exploded just as the bottom of the TNT met the right corner of the shelf on which the 2 columns on the left sit as the explosion also set off the top TNT to blow the roof up & out. If when the TNT explodes the structure folds down into itself, I’ve been restarting.

For the 2nd shot, I aimed to the bottom of the pillar, but I was high & I estimate it hit between the 3rd & 4th stones (if you look closely, the 3rd stone from the bottom is darker, like the one on the bottom). I didn’t immediately detonate & the bomb may have moved a tad up the column before I detonated, but when I detonated, I saw an explosion similar to the 1st in that debris flew up & outwards. I’m pretty sure this was the 1st time I’d seen damage like this on my 2nd shot.

Now, on my iPad 2 I have yet to score as high after the IOS upgrade as I did before, but maybe it’s just me.

I’m wondering if the explosion on the first shot, throwing everyting in the air is an ipad or android thing. I’ve shot, reset, shot, reset, cutting the chain holding the TNT at every possible point and cannot get that “throw everything into the sky” explosion. Has anyone on PC gotten this result? Am moving on. Getting nothing but frustrated with trying to get up to average.

@twylatime Dunno about the possibility of this shot on PC, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve found several shots in Space and Rio that I’ve proved through intensive testing cannot be done on PC.

For those who can get it to work, save some sanity trying to aim. The ‘fling in the air’ result on the first shot is completely random. It doesn’t matter where you cut the rope. All that matters is where the TNT chooses to blow, and there are only two spots where it does:

Low: (The middle of the stacked TNT barrels is level with the stone plank just above it) means everything falls into the water.

Lower: (Middle of the stacked TNT barrels is 1/4 inch below the stone plank) means you get the debris flying into orbit.

It’s a really subtle difference.

Shot 2, aim for middle of pillar, detonate before hitting. Pillar gets pulled towards you then flung skyward.
