This is indeed a VERY good trick. My best score is still with 2 birds (154 930), but I managed to destroy the left tower many times with this tip. Just no luck with the complete collapse yet!

73 400 with 2 birds here. Regardless of the strategy you use, all 5 TNT’s must blow if you want anything higher than 73k.

I’m writing this comment on August 24, 2015 and I can confirm that this method is currently the only way to get above average in this level.
