@bahnjee@Buds. That’s the way I understand it, too. But I see players in the arena that have level five birds that are shiny. I have one level five bird that is shiny, but he was shiny when I got him. The players I’m talking about that I have seen have a whole team of shiny level fives. Why would anybody waste the coins to put a shiny totem on a level five bird? I’m guessing that if you’ve played long enough to have a whole team of level five birds, you’ve got enough coins to blow them on a shiny totem on a level five bird?

@bahnjeeOn most levels the pigs’ team strength is based on your own team strength. Swap your birds in and out of your team and watch the pigs’ strength vary. However it’s not a direct relationship. In other words, I’m not saying that if your team strength goes up by 100pts that the pigs will go up by 100pts. What I’m saying is that there appear to be internal tiers that when reached, cause the pigs to move up in strength too. For example, keep your team at 6000 and the pigs’ team stays at 5900. But add in a stronger bird to jump your team to 6100 and the pigs jump to 6100. Play around with various combinations till you find a sweet spot.
Lastly, don’t ignore that color-matching birds do double damage. I’ll sometimes make my entire team yellow (or blue, red, whatever) to take on a tough pig team. This will not only lower your team strength (and thus the pigs strength too) but will also double the firepower of your team.
Lastly (really, this time), the above internal tier thing doesn’t always apply. There are many story-advancing level that don’t follow these “rules”. I’ve crashed the blimp in the ocean and am chasing around the island again, now stuck facing a pig team of 20,000pts while I have only around 10,000.

@bahnjeeI wholeheartedly agree. Because I have skill enough in the arena to kick some bird butt should not mean that I have to face players that have been playing for months and have crazy high stats. Many players have birds with low SuperShot counts and can blast all the pigs on turn 2 or 3, slaughtering my team immediately.
I’m of the mind that SuperShots should not be allowed in the arena, and that team pairings should involve more than just the number of trophies won. As it stands, the arena is exceedingly unbalanced and frustrating.

@bahnjeeMaybe I’m just overly optimistic but I don’t think Rovio would just pull the plug without notice. Talk about terrible customer service!!
I’m hoping they just pulled the server offline to do some updates. Still…they ought to let their loyal beta testers know what’s going on.

@bahnjeeSpeaking of the risqué language, I could do without it. Call me a prude maybe, but cartoons shouldn’t say ass or pecker

@bahnjeeWhile I recognize that different people like different play styles, and this young child’s opinions are certainly valid, I still want to add my two cents. I’m sorry to say I completely disagree with each and every point. Chalk that up , I suppose, to the difference between a young child and an old man.
Rovio has put out MANY variations on the original AB that use the fling-from-the-side dynamic. This game is different…and different is good.

@bahnjeeI griped here in the Forums early on about not being too fond of the game.
Umm….it’s just about the only game I play now. :-S
I only go back to AB Friends when I’ve exhausted everything I can do in AB TNT.
While there ARE bugs and glitches, there are obviously things I like (or I wouldn’t be playing so much):
*I posted some likable things earlier (music, graphics, etc)
*The ability to choose the bird the send out (unlike AB).
*Trying to find a powerful bird that can achieve the necessary angle to reach the back of a pig.
*Birds’ master skills (or whatever it is that makes them sparkle and clobber)
*Different skills sets for birds (even within the same color)
*Being able to tap a bird or pig in combat and see his/her strength, remaining life, etc.
*Variation of battles (Oinktagon, Scout missions, teaming with other player birds, even the Test Adventures)
*Maybe others will disagree, but I like that some treasure chests require the watching of an ad to open. This allows me to “pay” Rovio without having to pay.I’ll try to post again when other thoughts occur…

@bahnjee@narc:
Same thing with me in the Oinktagon tourney. I was #1 at the end of the tourney…got promoted to the next level…few hours later, was DEmoted back to bronze. BOO! HISS!!I also DO NOT get credited with the goodies that pop out of scout missions on the main map. I’ve watched the numbers and no matter whether I go to Birdtown (BT) and back to map, or compete in a battle, I DO NOT get the goodies.
The Shrapnel dude wasn’t in BT when I was told to find him, but he popped up a little later and I was awarded a shiny trophy bird (or some such).
Has anyone else noticed that after about 8pm, you can fight in the Oinktagon non-stop? Even if your daily battle tickets have been used up, you go back in and you have two more. You fight a battle and go back in and you still have two! (Yes, this is why I was #1 in the tourney last week. :-))
EDIT: Maybe I was thinking of some other character… I’m being told now to speak to Shrapnel in Bird Town, but he’s never there…

DOH! Ten minutes later and I stumbled into the Clan Tutorial stuff. I’m Clannified now. :-)It’d be nice if there were some sort of notification that you’ve been accepted into a Clan. I poked around awhile and even accidentally spent some coinage trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing in the Clan building.

@bahnjeeI’m not a big fan of all the necessary upgrading and hatching and buying and friending and clanning and on and on…
I prefer the “classic” AB games….grab a bird and fling it at towers and stuff. Games that take this much work aren’t ‘games’ in my never-to-be-humble opinion. I’m looking to kill a few minutes here and there, not spend all my spare energy/time figuring out how to best upgrade crap.
I’ll keep playing for a bit to see if maybe it grows on me, but so far…..meh.
Things I DO like:
The music, it’s cute
The graphics, gameplay is smooth, transitions are aesthetically pleasing
The birds, they’re intricate and interesting
The variety, many birds, many skills

@bahnjeeWhen I enter the Clans building, I’m told I have to first complete the Clans Tutorial. uhhh….where is this tutorial they speak of??

@bahnjeeJust posted some of my issues, but forgot one.
(4) I watched a video in order to earn a Battle Booster (additional 10% Attack and Health). When the level loads, it shows the extra health being added (the flash of green numbers) and a tap/hold on a bird shows the increase in attack. However, the increase is not applied to the Pigs.

@bahnjee(1) More than once, I have spent hard-earned snoutlings on upgrades (Master and Elite) and NOT gotten the promised increase in attack strength. It may have happened many times, but at least twice I looked at the before and after attack values and THERE WAS NO INCREASE!!
(2) On the screen where you choose your Class/Weapon/Shield, you can tap/hold on an unselected Class and look at its attack values. Then select that Class and tap/hold to see the true attack values (I think they’re always lower and often substantially lower).
(3) When choosing to buy a new Class or upgrade, you’re promised one set of attack values (tap/hold on the signboard), but then on the Choose your Class/Weapon/Shield screen the values are LOWER.
Pisses me off to no end to spend so much time on an upgrade and then not get it.
And none of this includes the day I had ONE more attack to kill the LAST pig Bottomless Cave Dungeon. That sorry SOB pig killed my last bird and I spent the snoutlings to revive my birds…then the game froze. Well…froze isn’t quite correct. I could drag the attack circles onto the last pig…I could pause and resume the game…everything worked, except no attack would be carried out.
I’ve played all the variations AB for years and have never seen coding as shoddy as this from Rovio.
