The staff here at AngryBirdsNest has finally recovered from the countdown to Angry Birds Star Wars II, which featured three separate updates in the span of a week — not to mention the release of Star Wars II itself! But now, Rovio is looking to push onward and upward! And there are three known updates that are quickly approaching on the horizon.
Angry Birds Go!
This information was uncovered a couple weeks ago by some outstanding sleuths (Credit Due: @angrysam and @josm). Rovio and Hasbro have released the TELEPODs for new kart-racing app Angry Birds Go! (Unfamiliar with Angry Birds Go? Read our posts!) The packaging for the TELEPOD includes a release date of October 31st, 2013 — with a small disclaimer that the release date is subject to change and yada-yada. Nonetheless, Rovio has announced no setbacks in the release of the app, so we’re banking on that date. Happy Halloween!
Danger Above II
Let’s start with something that Rovio said publicly. With the classic-gameplay update to Red’s Mighty Feathers, Rovio announced the those 15 levels were not part of their original plan for the app’s next update. However, they said they are still on schedule to release a new update to the original Angry Birds in November!
Some clever sleuthing has revealed that this update may be named Danger Above II. Rovio hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but that’s never stopped us from speculating before!
With this update, we expect “completely classic gameplay” to return — as in, Red Bird will lose his special, gravity-defying homing ability. We also sincerely hope that this will appear as Episode 10, Chapters 24+.
There’s a few other things that were uncovered in this sleuthing, but we’ll leave them aside for now. They appear to be beta concepts that may not be release universally.
Halloween Update?
A close monitoring of Rovio’s Twitter account revealed the following message:
You haven’t seen the last of Seasons, but the birds & pigs may be celebrating Halloween in a few other games this year ;)
So what do we think this means? It certainly sounds like we won’t be seeing our banner change reflected in Angry Birds Seasons this year (sorry @BirdLeader). But nonetheless, we will see Halloween represented somewhere. Speculation and simplicity would suggest that the Angry Birds Friends Tournament will be decked out to support the occasion, similar to last year’s tournament. Anyone think the Zombie Pigs will be coming back from the dead… again?
Being into Angry Birds there is always something to look forward to!:)

@DH-Kim ABS isn’t abandoned Rovio said you haven’t seen the last of seasons! So probably not!
Do we know why it took Rovio so long to come up with a 3rd season theme episode this year?
My guess is @jaythecanadian that Rovio has done so many seasons that they haven’t been able to do any.
Anyone noticed that in the picture above; Mighty Hoax, Ham Em’ High and Birdday Party are not there?

Fortunately I’m not a cart racing person so I will at least have time to sleep after all the updates come out.
I hope Red gets to keep his ability. It’s fine if he doesn’t have it in any episodes before Red’s Mighty Feathers, but I would like for him to be able to have his power in future episodes.

This has had been a very slow year for Angry Birds seasons….seems that Rovio had been so focused on a couple non-Angry Birds games or that they are starting to run out of season theme episode ideas for Angry Birds Seasons (until they came up with the Circus one that came in May).

@Arthromod Nothing yet. If they do, I hope they don’t tweak the chapter numbering like last time. From a purely administrative stance, it’s a nightmare for us to adjust. :-/
I personally hate the idea of telepods, but the other updates should be interesting! Also, I think that there should be a Thanksgiving update, where there is an angry turkey, and it could have similar gameplay to red’s mighty feathers!
I don’t really think that will happen, since Rovio is a Finnish company… would be a good idea though! :)
The problem with a Thanksgiving Seasons update is that it only applies to the US. Many countries have a Thanksgiving, but all are different and most do not feature Turkeys..
they have a chinese new year episode tho… seasons are more universal then holidays… and I have no idea what abracabacon is supposed to represent,lol

Given that Angry Birds Free has a Danger Above 2 episode I would imagine the name will stay.
Man this is all so crazy. Another update for the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds GO! will eventually be out on Halloween but I don’t know what to make of the 3rd update.
It doesn’t sound like there will be a Halloween ABS update this year. That will be a total bummer. I really like the previous Halloween releases and they had a lot of replay ability. Having ABF Halloween levels will be cool but we can only play them for a week or two if they do it for more than a week. However, ABSW2 is so cool I can understand the need to concentrate on other things. It is a bummer though.
The TelePods for Angry Birds Go! can be used one of two ways: they can be used with a track that is sold in a special “Pig Rock Raceway” set that includes an exclusive TelePod, ala Darth Vader pig TelePod in ABSW 2, or you can use them to switch out your cart racing character in the AB Go! app due October 31, according to the outside of the packaging. You know, Danger Above II was probably just released in the free version to give more levels of Danger Above for some reason.
I also think that Danger Above II will only be un free version.
I have a few thoughts of the above….
First, I am excited (as usual) for the release of Angry Birds GO, and the design of the respective carts look great and are unique as well. It is an unique piece of technology that I am impressed. The implementation of the ‘TELEPODS’ system is always welcome and adds much more fun to the game, though it may be considered ‘unfair’ to an extent. Another thing about ‘TELEPODS’ is the price. I see a Jedi-VS-Sith pack of two figurines here in Singapore costing a cool $20. Wow.
About the ‘Danger Above 2’, thank goodness that ABO isn’t abandoned! Great to see an update to the classic game, though I was expecting another name…adding a ‘2’ behind the chapter is a little misleading and which some may consider unoriginal…Regarding the design of the ‘banner’, I spied some….snow? This fits the Christmas time frame in which the update is to be released, although I prefer it to appear in Seasons. The pig holding the net containing the egg looks familiar too…I am definitely looking forward to another classic update to the ever classic game!
Seasons. Believe it or not, Seasons is the first Angry Birds game I downloaded, and Haunted Hogs is the first update I gotten. I especially look forward to a Halloween update, and it sounds like it will have….none? It will be quite a pity. On the bright side, I’m glad that Halloween is not discarded entirely. Having a Halloween event on ABF is most expected, but having a few events is better than none! Also, seeing that ABSWII is just released and is of EPIC proportions, I can understand.
In conclusion, GO FOR IT ROVIO!! Great job!

Its great there are 3 more updates coming from Rovio. More games to play equals more fun in our free time.
The DA2 in its traditional AB game play is always a welcomed change-up from the special game play of Space and Star Wars. Really makes the many games diverse in their game play.
Halloween going to Facebook is good but will miss it being posted in Seasons. If one lets their imagination go wild and reads Rovio’s post literally “a few other games this year” maybe there will be Halloween in Space or Rio. Just a speculative thought for the fun of it.

I actually have a question concerning the cloud sync system: If you already have a Rovio account and you have synced it. Then there is a level you haven’t played yet, neither being logged in nor being logged out. You play the level and 3 starr it while being offline. If you log in then afterwards, will the stars sync to the Rovio account or will you have to play it again being logged in? I know it doesn’t work to get stars from the Rovio account to the device, but I’m not sure whether it works the other way round…

I think they should start splitting the apps. Pretty soon the games will get too big and leggy to play (because of so many episodes). That way there could be more room for newer episodes.
Ithink they started doing that with absw and absw2.
