It’s confirmed! Angry Birds Go to be a Kart Racer

After much speculation on whether Angry Birds Go would be an endless runner or kart racer, Rovio, via Redbull, has revealed the answer. The video above doesn’t show any in-game footage, but it does confirm what we’ve long thought: Angry Birds Go will be kart racer. Rovio’s tweet below spilled the beans.

We joined forces with @RedBull to let you all know that #AngryBirdsGo will be a kart racer!

To those of us who have followed Rovio for a long time this isn’t a huge surprise. In early interviews, Peter Vesterbacka — Rovio’s Mighty Eagle — was asked many times where Rovio would go next with Angry Birds. Most of the time his answer cited the evolution of Mario to Mario Kart.

Now, with that said, this does not in any way lessen our excitement for the game. I’m quite confident that Angry Birds Go will be a unique adaptation and carefully follow the story line that has been built through Angry Birds, Bad Piggies, and all of Rovio’s amazing animations.

Now we just need to see some gameplay… Stay tuned!

Wait, I had seen some board games of ABG that destroyes the building with karts; is it racing game or destruction game?

Maybe both At the Same Time :D

I think it’ll be a combination of both. Complete a race while fulfilling the requirements of destroying a few buildings.

I’m guessing this will be like Mario kart but with an angry birds theme.

If it is, then, what would the items be? you know, the equivalent of a mushroom, what would be?

Maybe the birds would be the power up mushroom items. Whatever power the bird has you could use against other racers…yellow-boost, black-explode, etc….just a thought.

It can be on mobile phones, using the proximity sensor as the steering wheel ;)

Ok, imagination gone wild..who will be driving the vehicles, pigs or birds? Interesting if the pigs were the drivers and we would fling the birds at them trying to hit them as they navigate the course. If the pigs get to the finishing line first, they win.
What ever the final game plan will be, it should be interesting in how they will incorporate birds and pigs. Maybe racing against each other? Or maybe not at all, we build the race cars and race against time.

i think both of them, becuz i’ve seen a board game that the pig and the bird are riding

As I posted elsewhere, it will have to be extremely good to be better than Mario Kart. One of the best things about Mario Kart was the control – you used your controller as if it was a real steering wheel. The game was so popular in this house that we ended up with 3 steering wheel accessories and had many 3 players/drivers competitions. I always used my wheel and the game acknowledges that you do use it. Rovio has certainly given themselves a big challenge with this one. The other 2 players in this house didn’t get hooked by AB like me. I wonder if this game will attract them. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t – it sounds like as in Mario Kart, you will be able to play it on your own anyway.

So, like others, I too am very much looking forward to this game. :)

So we will have scores or points to gain when finishing some requirements?

I think, AB Go will be a ”Racing + Destruction” game.
Remember the first teaser at go.angrybirds.com ?
In that teaser, you can hear the sound of Slingshot.
May be, Slingshot can be used to launch karts to destroy Piggies’s buildings ? Or Only Racing with the Piggies ?

Well, Rovio said on twitter that AB Go is a 3-D game.
So, I think ABGo is built with ‘Unity3D’ Physics, Like Bad Piggies.

I think the game is starting to lose all of the hype from the day it was announced…this page only has 13 comments.

Long time ago, after Bad Piggies were released I said that Piggies’ contraptions resemble crazy Red Bull city racing karts. Somehow Rovio’s sense of humor goes hand by hand with Red Bull image. Now they are partners in new game, really cool.
this is a kind boys’ game but I assume since it comes from Rovio I will play as well. Oh, and I am glad it’s nothing like red’s Mighty Feathers.

I’m not a big fan of racing games (because I’m really awful at them) but if there’s destruction involved, I’ll spend 99¢ to give it a try.

@freb545 @AMslimfordy Since today telepods for GO are available, on the packaging you can read the text: ‘app available October 31’

Rovio confirmed today via twitter, Thursday October 31 is the planned release date

@Josm I’ve seen the picture, but it’s certainly not a guarantee. I haven’t seen anything official from Rovio.

No, the date is still not a guarantee, its a planned date says rovio. But the date is visible on all the telepods from GO in the world so its pretty certain that the date is correct
