The very first time I played it, when it was released, I made it to level 28 without getting a pig. I play it every time it becomes available and I can not get past level 4 now.
This is how it goes for me every single time now.
Level B – Pig free – Usually feathers
Level 1 – Usually feathers
Level 2 – Pig – Spend 20 gems – Feathers
Level 3 – 11 gems
Level 4 – Pig. NOT spending 100 gemsSomebody mentioned that the pig rarely stays on the same card on the next level. BS. I tried using the card the pig was previously on and it ALWAYS gives me a pig. There is no pattern to it. How the hell do you go from playing 28 levels without getting a pig the very first time you play it to not getting past level 4? Nobody has that kind of crappy luck. And I also question the legality of the Tower of Fortune. It’s basically online gambling on a game that kids play.

Every time I try the Tower of Fortune I automatically have 7 Silver feathers and 11 gems in my reward counter before I even start Floor 1, but any card I pick ALWAYS has a Pig so I have no choice but to drop my (always the same replenishing) rewards and wait until the next day for the Tower of Misfortune to reappear
dpage@dpageAs I said earlier they have likely buffed the tower, at least on some machines given that it looks like the tower’s being tested with people reporting differing features. I was able to do surprisingly well quite frequently at the start, but have been stopped lately before level 5. Like 4 out of 5 times there’s a pig popping out before level 5.
KayBird@kaybirdSounds about right. The first pig or two usually appear at level 4 or below. I’m okay with spending 2o gems to keep going, but I hate how much the gem prices increase after that. The Tower is like a slot machine in a gambling casino. Your winnings, if any, are dependent entirely upon chance. I wish that Rovio had come up with something that was based on skill instead of chance.
DJLarryt@djlarrytAgain, it’s just a slot-machine based gambling ploy to get you to blow all your gems trying to get those fantastically expensive and elusive fancy hats and end up standing there broke with nothing to show for it.
Of course the intention is so you will angrily and impulsively turn around and blow $100 of REAL money for a purse full of virtual currency, probably to shortly end up in the same place while Rovio laughs all the way to the bank.
(…because amassing all the black pearls to do it will take most people years without hacking the game)
I refuse to even play it. In the 2 or 3 times I’ve tried it, I got 2 pigs within the first 5 cards. Yeah but no thanks.
Epic Buttstomp@hubert-loThis is worst than slot machines. Slot machines you keep putting on the same amount but here in AB2 the cost goes up exponentially. You won’t see the big prizes until you pay enough or extremely luck, likely the former.
AB2 economy has been in runaway inflation ever since they introduced bird levels, then the hats make the inflation goes out of hand much faster. Things got more screwed up when they start putting in cheap hat sets here and there.
Instead of buying the pirate hats one at a time, I will just horder 3500 black pearls and decide then. Probably at least 1 cheap set will show up by then. I am about 1/3 of the way there.
NightmareRise@nightmareriseFrom my personal experience on the tower (as well as some YT showcases I’ve seen), I have some advice that may be of use.
1. Try picking a variety of cards. The pig seems to appear more often on cards you choose more frequently.
2. It may, as @dpage said, be that the tower varies by device. So try playing it a lot of times and try to find a pattern.
3. If you choose a variety of cards, I think this will be the pattern:
70% chance to go 1-2 cards away from his previous spot (it’s about 50-50 which of the two he goes to)
20% chance he goes to the opposite side of the card set
10% to stay on the same card
Once again, this is based on YouTube videos I’ve seen and my own experience. Tell me if yours differs!
EDIT: if he’s in one of the middle cards on the previous one, it’s about 30-30-30, and 10% on same card againDJLarryt@djlarrytTower of Failure might not be rigged, but I tried a little experiment with it that suggests otherwise:
Decided to play one day and got to some level that demanded 1600 gems to continue. Instead of exiting or continuing I just hard-stopped the app.
Waited a few days. I noticed my “!” on the activity never went away. So I went back in and was immediately greeted by the raspberry-ing pig and the demand to pay 1600 gems to continue. I decided to pay then play again. Selected one of the 3 remaining cards (since I already turned over the pig card). Went to next round and immediately turned over another pig card demanding to pay again. Hard stopped again because 2400 gems is a bit much to choke down for another attempt.
Reloaded a backup from the previous day aka @captsternn. Went back in to see what was going to happen, and as before, was greeted by the sneering pig demanding 1600 gems to continue. Paid again like before, took one of the 3 remaining cards to move to the next ‘floor’… and lo and behold, immediately got another sneering pig on my next floor attempt even though I selected a different card this time.
Did this 10 more times and got the sneering pig 10 more times on the following round after paying no matter what card I selected.
10/10 is enough to convince me that the game is rigged as it seems programmed to demand the gems on my next floor after paying to go on from the previous one. Finally just pressed “exit” to be done with it.
Side Note: The TOF is attached to your FB profile. I know this because I tried opening the app on my lunch break from work last week. Our network is secure and we have free internal wi-fi that doesn’t allow mail or FB connections (web surfing is fine though), so it doesn’t allow playing the Arena on wi-fi but I can play regular campaign levels. When opening AB2 the ToF icon is greyed out on our internal wi-fi so it’s in the same class as the Arena. If I go off wi-fi and use my data provider the icon re-appears.
Epic Buttstomp@hubert-loThe potential of huge payouts is enough for some to blow endless amount of gems at it every 19 hrs. As fancy as our “work arounds” are there are enough players out there don’t know about them at all, so the only solution for them is to pay $$ to buy gems. That is exactly what Rovio is trying to tap in.
Putte@puttekulaYep, the pep in here is a minority of peps out there that actually pays. Even so for one trip up to 90th floor. And as I see it its about $200 for that trip…Crazy..
CaptSternn@captsternnFor me, the tower is just a way to bank feathers at this point. Sometimes I get the chance to have a net gain in gems, depends on which bird is getting feathers. Today it was Red and he had only about 14K feathers. He now has almost 30k.
cognitive@cognitiveif you have tens of thousands of gems the Tower is as good as any venue to spend them. If not…
I think the key to marginal success is to avoid a pig in the first 5 or 6 floors, which would be probability of 0.75 * 0.75 * 0.75 * 0.75 * 0.75 or 0.75 ^ 5 or 6, which is .23 to .17. Then, if you manage to hit one or two pigs you’re out 120 gems, which you should more than make up with won gems. At that point if you’re at floor 10 or so, and have only spent 20-120 gems, worst case 320 (20 + 100 + 200) then things get better in the sense that you have good chance of winning multiple thousands of feathers, or some useless hat (10 pearls? ROTFL).
The problem is that the good stuff is above 20-25, and to get there without hitting a pig the odds get pretty ugly pretty fast. If you have tens of thousands of gems laying around, no problem, but I don’t recall ever having more than a couple thousand, so….
It’s all about the burn rate of gems and people buying more.
CaptSternn@captsternnFriend request, DJ.
Epic Buttstomp@hubert-loWhy do you think gambling is good business for the casinos and race tracks? People lost money but bet more hoping they will make it back soon.
Let say you have gems kicking around, you pay 3000 just to get to the end of the Tower. The payout of gems may break even in that department. But what if it doesn’t and you get mostly other stuff like spells which many of us don’t really care these days.
CaptSternn@captsternn3,000 gems to get to the top, Bushy? I have over 31,000 gems banked and rarely get to level 70. I have only been to the top twice, and the second time got the fancy hat I already had. Was offered 800 pearls instead. No thanks.
Epic Buttstomp@hubert-loJust guess CaptSternn, my actual coffer is like 600 gems. Since I don’t want to buy gems I guess I cannot play the tower properly. I only pay 20 gems. If I have more than 20 gems in the rewards, I cash out and call it quit. Highest I have got before I chicken out was 11. I have all the hats below the 1000 pearls each level using traditional legit means.
I think if someone can use 3000 gems to get high levels, that someone should try getting a real lottery ticket that day.
CaptSternn@captsternnAll good, Bushy. I have spent money on gems in the distant past. Twice on the 11,000 gems. I tried taking the high road in the past, Rovio didn’t care. Now I no longer care. The tower just shows that it is all about revenue, bleeding gems left and right. It just gets worse and worse. You play as you choose, others will do the same. Only one thing matters in the end, is it still fun?
Putte@puttekulaI have made it to the top every day. Sometimes with 2 ipads at the same time. I have stopped count the gems spent long time ago.
The loss is in average 30000+ gems. 35-40000 gems in penalty and 5-10000 in win.
The max penalty 3200 usually kicks in at level 30-40. If later it comes in a more frequent way later on.
Therefore I just cant see anyone doing this run to the top in a honest way. But obviously, thats the way they want it……. I have no regret…Epekkamaster@epekkamasterIf I get to room five I take the free hat and spilt. I advise you to try this method.
dpage@dpageThe problem is that soon enough you will have taken every of those hats and 10 pearls is next to nothing when it takes 12 hours of wait time. Maybe it’s something to take if it opens every hour, but 12 hours? Not really..
Epic Buttstomp@hubert-loFor all of you advocating about spending infinite gems for the Tower: the economy in AB2 is in a runaway inflation with no end in sight.
Initially we have certain sets of hats. Then they add more expensive sets along with some cheap sets in between. Birds level is the same, keep adding more. Every update will bring a new ceiling. If you want slingshot upgrade, go for the cheap sets of hats first. Just wait for next update and there will be another 100 pearls each set.
The only things that are somewhat meaningful in rewards are feathers, black pearls and gems. It sounds like you loose more gems getting to high Tower levels but the rewards won’t pay for the losses. Having the Tower every hour will just line Rovio’s pocket.
CaptSternn@captsternnHaving the Tower every hour will just line Rovio’s pocket.
Oh great, you just had to go and give them that idea, Bushy. LOL
FlingerPro@ericliThey do sometimes. I once paid 320 gems, only to get 345 gems.
SumoBro@sumobroRovio must be messing with it behind the scenes. There was that one time where the pig didn’t go to the previous spot, and then the next day he always went to the previous spot. My strategy now is to go to random cards, including the previous one, and ending low with little gems. I recently bought the King upgrade, so I’ve been racking in 60+ gems per day + the 10-20 gems from the ToF. I’ll keep doing this until I get 2000+ gems, and then try for Floor 30, which is now the Super Jackpot instead of the Regular Jackpot apparently.
CaptSternn@captsternnSumo, the King upgrade seems to be one of the better expenses in this game. Especially since we get gems from the small chest again. I am not always on top of it, but it pays off when I can be.
PhoenixH@phoenixhAre you playing through with real cash or cheats?
