@smwforever45Thunderbird just ranked up.
I can thus confirm that 55 -> 56 requires 11,440 Mastery points.I also noticed something weird about how much Mastery a pig can give as I was ranking up Thunderbird on levels with very low pig levels.
A Level 13 Brute gave 6 (3*2) Mastery, with 2 enemies on the screen.
Two Level 1 Stick Pigs gave 3 Mastery each, with 3 enemies on the screen.
And from a Level 1 Rogue, I got 2 Mastery, with 2 enemies on the screen.Is the amount of received Mastery now dependent on the amount of enemies that are on the screen?
It would make a lot of sense because prior to the 2.0.0 update, Level 13 Brutes gave 4 (2*2) Mastery, and Level 1 Stick Pigs would give 1 Mastery.
After the update, it seems to be (2+1)*2 for the Brute, and 1+2 for the Stick Pigs, instead.
Which would mean that levels with plenty of enemies on the screen at the same time would now be the best places to grind Mastery.

@maxxmattI got the idea @smwforever45 gave me about playing Mouth Pool for snoutlings teaming up Skulkers with McCool instead of Cannoneers; I tried it and worked brilliantly so I ended up trying to bring it to an extreme level of optimization with a few play tricks. I set up level’s goal not on “killing them all stealing their snoutlings” but on “surviving until getting bored” of grabbing their own money.
From this perspective I need:
– a long term group healer (enemy swarms tend to grow in number when you let them do it without keeping them down on porpouse);
– a tricky massive finisher (after getting bords, you want to end the Pool with a single brilliant shot);
– a cursed allies purifier ( I will let zombies bite my birds as much as they can).
There is only a bird can give you so much flexibility and the right mix of passive and active skills: Rainbird.
I performed thins Pool approach once or twice a day, between events, arena goals and minor mastery quests, but every time I played it I tried to “solve” its puzzle enduring it as much as I could and rising the total price: best result consisted on stealing 1957 snoutlings before getting bored of the routine and falling asleep :)
Team:
– Rainbird L70/M43 with Lightning weapon set E4
– Skulkers L70/M34 with Beep! weapon set E4
– McCool
Tricks:
– Be patient, first 5 waves are pure gold because the number of enemies can grow and they hit you with low damage;
– Don’t wipe the board, kill them slowly, when all the zombies die your game end, so let them survive or rebirth frequently;
– In order to let them survive as much as you want, add time to your strategy concentrating your hits first on the final enemy because it is temporary and doesn’t harm you, then let them die slow. If you do it, you have 6 free snoutlings each wave from him;
– Each zombie based wave should be “replayed” at least 10-15 times before giving up with it and proceed; maximum number of zombies is seven and after zombie summoner used its skill, each hit gave you 14 snoutlings. Sometimes, the mix of damages and zombie types could reach a critical mass level for your team so wipe the board with the Rainbird keeping at least one zombie alive, use your team unharmful secondary abilities and then restart the process again;
– Each wave could be managed by hitting enemies only for snoutlings with McCool and Skulkers but leaving Chuck as healer and only full of rage ready to be use to wipe the board when needed. Your team should be kept alive until the end, each member is crucial in order to make the optimization process worth the time needed to accomplish the goal: McCool rest for 12 hours so you can make it profitably only twice a day. I set up my personal goal with 2000-2500 snoutlings a day with this team. Final wave could be played quickly. Playing the Pool this way could easily burn you 45 minutes if not more; it will depend on your patience or your Need to preserve your Life outside the game :-)
burbman
@burbman@maxxmatt – If you are gaining only a couple thousand snoutlings in 45 minutes of game play twice daily, depending on your team strength, I think you could do better just autoplaying the level with your two strongest birds for the same amount of time each day. The level pays out approximately 130 snouts per play as long as you knock the big guy out each wave before he runs away, and you can get in at least ten plays in 45 minutes.
Maxx_Matt
@maxxmatt@burbman
Your idea is the first one I tried to abuse but, at my level/mastery/enchantments combination of classes, I can’t kill 10 times the “big guy”, one for each wave, without using a third friend bird and I can accomplish the goal only without auto-play.The best combo I found is a
– L70/M34 Wizard with E3 set/reset
– L70/M35 Treasure Hunter elite with E4 BEEP/robot
– any paladin/bard/bomba class stronger than my birdsIf I carefully play with this setup, I can buy enough time each wave through weapons’ and class tricks in order to kill “the big guy” at least 8 times (It has actually 47500 life points). When in auto-play, each class sometimes fail ti attack opting for its secondary ability and I lose the right timing letting him to escape.
Maximum obtained following your idea have been 100 snoutlings but it tooks at least 10 minutes of play and a couple of rage cakes to shorten rage chili recharging time. In order to do It 10-20 times I’m in need of a lot of stronger Friends and a lot of time top.
In my actual game situation, raw power and auto-play don’t function well, yet. 45000 damage points and a lot of minor disguise from minor enemies usuale are enough to prevente optimize your routine.
Any ideas?

@maxxmattI’m levelling up in my middle mastery classes. these are the data available for levels points missing in the first post of the topic.
From 34 to 35 –> 2950
From 35 ti 36 –> 3100(to be continued)
Maxx_Matt
@maxxmattFrom 36 to 37 –> 3563
Maxx_Matt
@maxxmattFrom 38 to 39 –> 4180
From 44 ti 45 –> 631032-33 needs 2801
26-37 needs 3409
36-37 needs 3379
burbman
@burbman@maxxmatt – you have given three different figures for 36-37. Are you calculating the gross needed to get from one level to the next, or just reporting how much you needed to level up after receiving notification that you had reached the next level? The proper method to calculate gross needed between levels involves knowing how much you needed to reach the next level, knowing how much you received after that point, and then knowing how much you need to reach the second level up.
Mastery earned-amount needed to reach bottom of level+amount needed to reach top of level.

FYI, I recently created a second Rovio account and started playing from the beginning. Anything in particular you’d like me to research as I do so?Anonymous
@smwforever45
I’m pretty sure the old mastery-per-pig formula* still holds, but now we’re also getting one point per pig on top of it, whether they “drop” mastery or not.*The old formula being 1 point for pigs level 1-7, 2 for 8-14, 3 for 15-21, etc., and double for big pigs.
RedYoshi45
@smwforever45@maxxmatt
So what is 36 -> 37 now? 3379 points, 3409 points, or 3563 points? Also, how do you measure? The proper way to find out how much Mastery is actually needed from one rank to the other is to:
(1) know how many points are needed to the next rank BEFORE you rank up,
(2) know how many points are needed to the next rank AFTER you rank up, and
(3) know how many points you acquired between 1. and 2. (ideally, this would be a purchase at Mighty Eagle’s Dojo, since it’s always 500 Mastery that is being added).If you know all three of those, then the correct solution is X = (2)+(3)-(1).
For example, if 300 points were required for rank 5, then you obtain 500 points, the class ranks up to 6 and the new requirement is 10,200 to 7, then the amount needed from 6 to 7 is 10,200+500-300 = 10,400.@poptimus
Nothing of particular interest as of right now, but you could try and verify the Mastery values that we’ve got. The more data sources we have, the better.That’s basically what I wrote in the first post already, which would confirm my theory, and explain why people have been having so much success grinding Mastery in Cave 9.

I’m not sure if/how this should affect your main post on this topic, but I think it’s worth mentioning:
I recall a couple of weeks ago you told someone that Mouth Pool should be an easy place to gring for Snoutlings. Based on my experience in my old profile, that was true. However, in the new account I created, I don’t anticipate that being the case at all. I’m leveling up MUCH faster now than I did in my old account. Additionally, the strength of the pigs in each level is determined by what experience rank your birds are when you first beat that level. (I think the Chronicle Caves are an exception to this tule?) I’m already up to Exp35, and I haven’t even beaten King Pig’s Castle yet. I’ll probably be up to Exp40 by the time I get to Mouth Pool, as opposed to facing level 12 pigs there in my old profile. And since mastery progresses much more slowly than experience rank, it’ll be a while before my birds will be strong enough to beat Mouth Pool on autoplay.

@smwforever45@poptimus
One should definitely make sure to clear Mouth Pool as soon as possible, exactly for that reason.
If one clears this level for the first time and is already at L70, that will make it quite diffcult to acquire the Snouts.I should definitely mention this in the first post, though.
Leung Wai Hoong
@leung-wai-hoong@poptimus I don’t have the luxury of the older versions as I started the game in February. I was stuck for weeks at Islands in the Sky as my L is high but M is low. Had to grind hard to gain the M, plus strategically using the 3 free Eagle dishes to beat the single strong enemies to advance to next stages asap. Finally managed to beat Mouth Pool at L56. Then at the caves, I used the exp potions to quickly level up to L70.
So, if you can beat Mouth Pool at L40, great for you!

@pointless@smwforever45 my advice would be to really push on TBird. One of the best out there.

@datguygamer@pointless I noticed that the “Hints” they give during battle screems are always the premium classes. Some hint huh.
