Definitely nothing after you reach the 250 token level. I will have to be content to stop playing there and accept my measly 1,375 tokens…

I love this format! I can play some more tonight after day 2 starts, and I should have all the sparks by tomorrow morning

Posting it here so that people will notice. So I have figured out the “difficulty” of the Sparkrun. I have been using gems to get two runs on the same day (after that you can’t even use gems to skip the timer as it gets locked out completely) and I have unlocked the reward level of 150 sparks and here’s what the difficulty does. It reduces the number of points you can win in a level. The strength of pigs and WMTs have stayed consistent throughout the difficulties but what happens is that you get less targets and the meter fills less before Astrotrain shows up. That’s why the Sparkrun also has the event type score multiplier; to boost your score just like what the ads do for Space Bridge missions. This won’t be a problem for guys who has at least a gold rank bot but for guys like me who distributed their sparks throughout the barracks, it will hinder my progress later as I may not be able to cover the threshold all the way.

So basically you need sparks (to promote your bots) to win Sparkrun. :/

Since I have been able to fill up the meter completely so far, can someone else confirm that does the run count if you fill up the meter halfway or don’t complete it? Do you get the sparks you collected or not?

I have completed up to Difficulty L3.

I missed filling the progress meter in both L2 and L3, but got all sparks because my promotion bonus was sufficient to make up the difference.

@optimuspig That’s how I passed difficulty 3 and 4 and that is how I noticed what the shtick was with this mode.

What I mean is is there anyone who can say what happens if you board the train without ever completing the bar? I know if all three bots die, then you lose everything but what happens if your promotion isn’t enough to warrant a full bar? has anyone experienced it yet?

I did a L5 spark run and at the end I had 3 full sections and about a 1/4 of the 4th and my bonus was 150% and it filled the bar up and I got my 150 sparks.

P1 on my board has 31k. I’m in 4th with 20k, but I’ve done four “test” runs with unpromoted bots.

I stopped when I hit the 250 tokens limit. I just want the sparks this time.

I want to full promote two TF’s for the events. After that I will stock up the rest of the tokens to invest on a bot from the bonus squad when a new bot is released.

I can see that in the near future, the new players will have a really hard time playing against a bunch of players that have at least two fully promoted bots, and a bunch of half promoted bots from different squads. If a new player want to stand a chance against veterans, they will have to buy the Spark Bundles.

@optimuspig he must really want that 100 token bonus for 1st. My group is really tightly grouped at the top 1st is 22358 with 5th at 19862. Seems no one is spending gems to move up the board just happy to play the free runs and see where they end up.

So had a soft update that did not fix the crashes or problems getting into the game but I see they have dropped P1 winnings from 1000 to 100 WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!

@paul13 – They are running it differently. By just earning the token levels, you can grab 1375 tokens. There is no need to compete for the extra 100 tokens for 1st place

@joel687 I thought people on my board had no interest in their leaderboard rank but with an hour to go the top 4 people have taken off 1st is now on 38400 and 2nd and 4th are within 250 points of each other 35100-34850. May only be 100 tokens but I think some people are obsessed with getting 1st and there is no need. The 2 accessories are 500 tokens and 200 tokens so total tokens required for sparks and accessories are 3,070 which averages out at 1,023 a day less than the 1375 a day available.

@phillips – My board has one crazy competitive person who has over 52,000 points.

I think many of the people spending gems didn’t notice the change in winnings. I think they are going to be very pissed in 18 minutes when the day ends and they earn 100 tokens

I find it strange that people don’t notice the change in winnings? In the 2 day New Year challenge where they used this alternate token system when I saw the massive changes in the daily tokens I looked at the leaderboard and noticed it was changed as well. When you see one change wouldn’t you look to see if there are other changes?

@datguygamer your view on the difficulty is incorrect. The score required increases but the number of targets does not decrease. I have played it everyday (twice yesterday) and received roughly the same score despite not having added any sparks to the characters I use. At the end (after bonus) I receive between 68,000-69,000. Today I even received 72,000. So there is no reduced targets it is just a higher score required.

@phillips The nodes never change and are the same length each day. Targets do reduce on higher difficulties on top of more score. Points are awarded less and pigs appear less frequently. When I did the 100, 110, 120 runs, there were structures all over the map. Starting from 130, structures are less and I most of the time my bots run through empty areas with nothing to shoot at compared to what I got to shoot before.

I am claiming that my thought is absolutely correct but that’s what I noticed when I did my runs. I am seeing pigs less and less as higher difficulties are unlocking (hell even WMTs are scarce now).
