That has happened to me before, and just to make it more difficult I get it on the Valiant set, plus l lose the coin flip as well.

@suzyq I got Valiant set a couple times too. More often though, I saw it with the justice set, which also made it an even bigger pain in the tailfeather.

I tried your strategy this week… joining with just over 60 hours remaining.

Hey, it almost worked… but I’m not too keen on grinding out 6000+ points to catch third. So, that’s that for this week.

They have extended the season by and extra 2 weeks, so will finish on week 14 rather than the normal week 12.

@angryde Yeah. It’s not a sure thing making the top three. But overall it is a lot more relaxed, and like you observe, even if 3rd is beyond reach, it is easier to maintain your position.

This week, I had to start on Sunday because there was the shard reward going on and I am hating it.

Starting 60 hours before the end of the week is certainly better than starting right at the beginning, but still not perfect since grinders will still have plenty of time to set themselves ahead of the competition (as @angryde has seen on his board).

I’ve had better experience with starting roughly 5-15 minutes before the end of the week. It doesn’t give you enough time to complete all the objectives, but your odds to rank inside the Top 3 are still quite high since other people also can’t manage to complete all the objectives – unless they get REALLY lucky -, and that for minimal stress and effort because you’ll usually be fighting easy opponents.

I really don’t want to be investing more time into the Arena because I’m only playing for the Snouts.

@smwforever45 You do get the occasional grinder starting late in the week, but even if you do, it’s only a couple of days of work rather than an entire week (and a late-week grinder is a different kind of cat than an early-week grinder). @metztli013 was in my gold league this week and he(she?) took third with only 19735, for three days worth of objectives (so a little over 6500 points per day). I took fifth with about 6200 points per day. In fact, I gave myself a scare because I am trying to stay in gold, but still get two stars, and at one point I thought I had worked a little too hard and might finish in the top three (@metztli013 and wowik came through for me though). The top guy had a little under 28000, so maybe 9000 points per day. Compare that to the point totals our *real* grinders put up in a day.

I’m just saying, I’ve been doing this for the last two seasons and it makes life much better.

Diamond Arena level achieved this week. I placed myself first, facing only one heavy grinder, @Jorge. (me with ~90.000 points vs. its 83.000 points score).

League was full of L70-M70 teams with underpowered banners: it seemed to me that almost anyone is trying to bluff server pairings based on level power this way in order to complete goals quickly and then skip the competition. Minimum efforts for a bounce of snoutlings. :-)

Actually, I almost averaged M35 in my classes waving from M46 for the most played two (Paladin and Rainbird) to M32 for the unused ones.

I too am being faced with a huge amount of teams with underpowered banners. It’s great if I get to start first, but as the coin flip is still in favour of the enemy my team usually gets knocked out on their first go. I’m lucky if I actually manage to have a turn at all and lose.

@suzyq yes good to see you. We do however have DIMITIRY who is already cheating. Unfortunately my objectives didn’t allow me to save any for later today. I can only hope to push him enough to get caught. I could grind out another 3k if I had the time but I don’t. Although GABEZ is a very heavy grinder so perhaps he can help.

I never meet teams with underpowered banners. I don’t see the point anyway.

I’m not sure if I’m going off-topic nor revealing well known / discussed things , but while playing, I noticed :
– overpowered teams with flawed game play strategies
– opponents playing against you like they are in auto-play mode
– they are always healing themselves when uneeded or using secondary abilities without focusing primarily on banner
– almost none seems to have bought GoldenChili to abuse of a first well placed Rage
– I’m sure to be able to spot a BOT playing against me after thousand of Arena games; I own a 3600 power group but I constantly win against badly played 3900-4200 teams. there are situations against the same Groups but well played, where I can’t make a single move to gain Edge . I’m so sure that I’m facing human players with their own team so rarely compared to standard “Rovio AI” that I can subscribe It. it’s a reasonable way to have opponents to face even when they are not online, it’s not that bad but games strategy cannot improve because non human teams don’t know how to “win”. they won’t win.

what do you think?

are you joking? :-) games and player statistics are transparent. I can’t believe that an owner of a M70-L70 elite paladin with E10 Dragon Breath set doesn’t own nothing better than a Red woodly banner . It is a good way to underpower the group stats for servers, nothing more.

@maxxmatt I can’t see any player statistics for the players in my league only for opponents. I never face underpowered banners they are all fully enchanted with fully enchanted Mythic emblems. Then so is mine so I don’t expect anything less.

I was talking about opponents not players, of course. Typical team I have been referring until now: 3 opponents birds with their own stats better than my birds (level and mastery) but with an obscenily low powered banner (woody, unmatched, unfocused, casually built). I see a “path” in this behaviour. Am I the only one? If you are paired through criteria that weight correctly your global team level you’ll face equally equipped teams: your daily goals will be hardly achieved constantly if you face groups ad strong ad you, don’t you? Interfere with this process and you’ll easily win

Ha! So glad I could help lol. This was the first week ever, since season 1 arena, that I started an arena week late. It was kinda hard to not do my objectives every day.. it felt…wrong. But I’M SO GLAD I DID IT!!! It really was much better! I was seriously completely lazy and did pretty much only the daily objectives for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I may have done a few more battles but nothing that could even remotely be considered “grinding.” I hung out in #2 until the end. So, I’ve decided this is life now. Starting the arena on a Thursday. Yep. =)
