Yep, as expected, now in 2nd place after leading by a lot all week.

Also here lately almost every time I play whatever level I get the first, I get the next round, so much for mixing it up.

FYI after you level your birds up to level 14 you can barely beat competitors with lower level birds if you can beat them at all without spells or play on gems. Also the only way to earn feathers is in the streak or through your daily feather allowance. I’m just getting the 3 gems mainly in my free chests and occasionally a spell card. It’s a shame how rovio has become this greedy.

I realized it pretty pointless to lvl up slings. After I got the silver sling, i figured I’d be owning everyone since not many people would have it. Nope….100% of people I play also have it. I have no incentive to collect hats if I’ll just break even with every sling upgrade. The only upside is that the offline stages are easier with higher ranking cards / slings

Has anybody installed the new 2.8.3 update? I’m always skeptical with rovio. I’m winning my tournament right now and don’t want to screw it up.

I did; no noticeable change. But recommend winning your tournament first, you never know!

In defence to the game, there’s probably thousands of people that play the game if not more, so it’s bound to happen that players already have the silver sling shot. I sometimes wonder why they are so many people I have to face are at star rank 60 with either poor (lvl 12 or under) or overpowered birds (lvl 14+). Silver slingshots aren’t that difficult to get if you score well at the arena and win the DC to get pearls. If you place 3rd or 4th in arena and win the DC’s everyday I can guarantee you within a month or 2, you can get it. Same with gold because that entails spending 700 pearls by collecting street hats.

What gets me is that people found ways to hack the game and already have the azure sling shot just barely a month into the birthday update. If you think that is bad, just you wait till the Oinklahoma chapter unlocks and they release elder diamond card (lvl 15) and I bet you within seconds of its release you face anyone in streak 3 or higher in the arena; ALL their birds will be at lvl 15 (and I can assume that’s going to take around 3500 feathers/bird to lvl up). So how’s that fair LOL? That’s Rovio for you to get you to waste gems/spells.

Actually You DO have an advantage. Hats. Notice that the hats differ each time? Some bring ’em, some don’t. I still face players using party hats or even no hats on a silver sling shot. +1 or +2 multiplier may NOT seem like a big difference but trust me, it adds up

example:
lvl 14 bird without hat + silver sling will do 14+0+2 = 16 times the damage
lvl 14 bird with party hat + silver sling will do 14+1+2 = 17 times the damage
Lvl 14 bird with crown/street + silver sling will do 14+2+2 = 18 times the damage.
lvl 14 bird with cowboy hat + silver sling will do 14+3+2 = 19 times the damage

That’s a significant difference :)

As for the offline stages, are they any easier? You can argue yes or no. With higher ranked birds, it definitely makes 3 starring levels and filling the destruct-o-meter a LOT easier HOWEVER it doesn’t change the bird strength and the round. You can STILL lose in offline stages badly, either to a pathetic bird lineup, those annoying micropigs that can miraculously survive and magician pigs LOL, severely weakened birds like Terence who can barely dent a structure unless he’s at the right angle, or level design and structures. All my birds are maxed out with crowns, and I usually have a hard time in the hard and boss levels

Chucky that one is not me this week, but I did see a Boom Boom in my league this week with a 1, guess there are other BoomBooms, and Max Thunders. I do not know enough about it with the names and all. I wish I could give myself a unique name but I do not know how. I paid the $4.99 initially to be able to do this but again I am clueless how to do it.

Hello old friends and new friends. Had an easy week, apathetic group. Got 1st place with just under 700 points. 2nd place had just over 200, 3rd and 4th with 37, 5th with 27 and everybody else was at 0 points. One thing I have found to avoid the delay to get back into the arena is to have the arena open when time expires.

I,too, was in the Arena when time expired, and it reset immediately for me. Though I have tried this in the past and it made no difference…so who knows.

How does someone get a Silver Sling when some of their birds have NO hats? Just played against two in a row. This game confuses the hell out of me!

1,066 points were good for a distant 5th place. 1st place had one error 1,900 points. Seems like the stupid high scores are becoming the norm.

@klm13 – have raised the same question about Arena opponents with a silver slingshot but missing hats, a couple of times lately but no-one picked up on it. Surely you must have bought 2 sets of hats to get the sling so why would you not use the hats when they give a +2 advantage on top of the sling multiplier?

Keep seeing this in the Arena (which should give me an advantage) but hard to believe a legitimate player would be so stupid not to use the hats as they are hard work to get in the first place – also seen party hats on their birds when the crowns ot street hats would score higher.

So like you, a bit confused!

@djangosmum: I just looked at everyone on the League list, and of the 15, I am the ONLY one showing any hats. Bug, maybe? The person who blew past me into first place while I slept also has lower bird and star rankings than I. And why do I never find myself playing against any of the people in that list? Very close to calling it a day with this game.

@klm13 – no-one has explained why the hats don’t show on Arena opponents but someone did say they won’t show when you look at the others in your league, only when you come up against them in an actual battle.

I never seem to battle anyone appearing in my own league, but as I understand it, from previous posts on the forum, we may appear in more than one league, so the ones you see as being in your league may not see you in theirs. This might explain why the person in first place has a ridiculous score much higher than the second place, as they are competing against different players and might not be in first in their own league.

I’d rather it was a bug causing the hats to disappear than the alternative – that somehow they got the slingshot without working hard for pearls to buy them, but when I play there is a niggling doubt which spoils the game for me.

@djangosmum: Thanks for the reply. So while this person continues to rack up points (for HOURS non-stop), forcing me down the list, I learn he/she is likely not even in the same league? And I’m supposed to make decisions based on that? That’s asinine! These games, while challenging, are supposed to be fun. And this one is anything but. Time for me to move on. There are too many others to choose from to waste time on this. (Trying really hard to watch my mouth right now, lol). Thanks again for the info :)

@klm13 – sorry if I’ve confused you, but what I meant was you could be in more than one league of 15, so players other than the ones you see in ‘your’ 15 might be playing against you in theirs, as you are listed in ‘their’ 15. However, looking at the ones you can see, very often they will be in a higher league, or occasionally lower, rather than say azure or whatever you are in, so you are in a different league in that respect too.

Times I’ve got fed up and stopped playing the Arena, I got demoted weekly, but the lower league I dropped to always seemed to be populated by players from the higher league of the week before. Now in azure having dropped from diamond.

Moving up or down a league is a bit of a farce under the circumstances, and if you are demoted unfair competing against the other 14 who are probably still in the league above.

@djangosmum: No, not confused, just disappointed. IMO, one should be in a League with a specific, comparable group of people and they should be allowed to duke it out for the week. I also don’t like that I could be causing the same issue for someone else like the one I am dealing with today. To use an old phrase…FUBAR. And just plain no fun :)
