    @sutekh137 – The game just magically started working for me yesterday after crashing between Thursday’s update and whenever I tried to open it throughout the weekend. There’s another thread or two here where others have documented that it works for them now, though since another update/patch hasn’t been noted in the iTunes store, I’m not sure how exactly they fixed it.

    @mighty-red-1
    – I managed, by some miracle, to get myself unstuck from level 503 today. When I got to 506 I was like “Uh-oh, this is the annoying boss level I was warned about”, and then by an even stranger miracle, I managed to knock the boss off the screen on the first try, with a single Red that was only really intended to clear a small obstacle from my path. No clue how that worked, and knowing this game, if I ever replay that level I’ll probably experience the frustration you did.

    I’m stuck on the second boss level now. It’s so bad that I have yet to see the final screen where the boss actually appears. The rooms preceding it are that huge of a pain.

    Hm, must have been something server-side that Rovio was able to fix. Glad you are able to get in now!

    @sutekh137 — I hope you aren’t really going to leave us. We will certainly miss you. Even @bankler will miss you, since you were the most polite in your comments to him.
    I’m having an OK time with the new update. I have to do a hard close and restart on the average of 5 times to find an opponent I can beat in the arena. I find the new gravity grove levels challenging but doable, I’ve gotten through the first boss fight. Yes, I did buy extra birds, but only one set, and I’ve been doing that on boss levels for quite a while.
    Hope to see you around some more!

    I’m not leaving you, not here nor on Epic, etc.

    But I have left AB2 and will continue to be…left. *smile* It’s just me, but I was letting the game run my life and my moods, which is pretty darn lame for a 45 year-old man. On one hand I wanted to get more gems so I could complete more levels, and I needed to complete levels because I am a completionist. And on the other hand I was whining about too much new content because that made the “complete” angle hard for me.

    Doesn’t get much lamer than that.

    I can honestly say I feel better after just a couple days of being off the game. Just relaxed. Plenty of folks can be hard core and relaxed at the same time — I’m just not one of them. To each his/her own.

    Glad you are having success in the new levels and Arena — that certainly helps maintain a positive attitude!

    Thanks,
    JoeK

    PS. I don’t think I was always very fair to bankler. Though, I haven’t seen much of him around since the update. I think he’s actually a dev, though, at least to some extent, so we’ll see if he comes back around and checks in with us…

    David Martin
    @david-martin

    I’m a developer (for websites, not games – the latter was my dream job when I was a kid, but now I’m glad I don’t have that job). I’ve been on the other end of harsh user feedback, so to some extent I understand how the devs feel. I got some feedback the other day that literally said “Your app suck and you should be sued for your lack of gay ness”. I wasn’t even sure where to begin with that one!

    But then I also know a lot of the classic excuses and deflections we developers can come up with when we don’t really want to admit that something doesn’t work as intended or was too difficult to fix so we came up with a clumsy workaround instead.

    I also know how easily AB2 can make a grown man realize how petty and immature he can be. So I can understand quitting for the sake of one’s sanity. For me personally, being forced to put the game down and wait a few hours does the trick well enough, so I’ll keep playing for the time being.

    I finally passed the second boss in 513 today, and the final string of levels from 514-519 actually had that aura of “advanced tutorial/genuinely engaging challenge” that I thought some of the earlier levels were lacking. Some of the level designs are actually quite elegant, once I’m done mentally contorting my mental image of things to figure out which way things will actually fall. The thing is that stuff actually does fall instead of getting sucked into a localized vortex. That’s way more fun, even if it falls in the wrong direction.

    Haven’t beat the boss in 520 yet… but at least I was able to get to him on the first try.

    Nice work on the new levels — glad they got more fun!

    I love that quote (well, not that you had to read such garbage, but for its wonderful inanity). Ages ago on a fun little text-based game (Carnage Blender) there was a nasty element who, on a thread complaining about some game mechanic, “shouted”:

    “I’LL CUT YOU WITH A RUSTY SCISOR!”

    I believe his username was “crackmonkey”. Good times.

    And I would never cut bankler with a “scisor”, rusty or otherwise. *smile*

    Thanks,

    @david-martin

    Wow. I have so many grievances with the boss in level 520 that I don’t know where to begin. From what I can tell you’re basically hosed if you don’t have Matilda, because she’s the only one who can hit the boss after going through the yellow portal. Everyone else (including Silver because there isn’t enough room) just gets sucked into the gravity vortexes above and to the leftof the boss and ends up being useless. Even if you manage to knock the boss off of his perch, it just becomes another one of those “hope you have enough birds left to clear the next obstacle, and then the next one” exercise that I find extremely tedious and not at all mentally stimulating. Never mind the fact that the entire level is stacked against you to the point where you’re lucky to get there with even one bird left in the first place.

    On one of my many tries this morning, I finally managed to get the boss into the “box” on the upper left of the screen. He had very little health left by that point and I figured I could pop the balloon immediately below and to the right of the slingshot to loosen the rocks, so that they would fall into the purple portal and finish him off. They proceeded to fly over his head and land in the corner because there were maybe one or two rocks already there between him and the left wall. That’s just poor level design – requiring the player to be super-precise in a situation where we don’t have the space or even really the means to change an object’s trajectory.

    My last bird was (miraculously enough) another Matilda. I fired her through the portal, intending to drop an egg on the boss… and the egg drop didn’t respond. The boss had no visible red in his health bar at this point but was hanging on to life by a thin thread, and I was out of bird. I haven’t made it back to that point in easily ten tries since then. UGH!

    This has been a glitch with Matilda for ages, including in several of the old AB games, and it needs to be fixed. You often need to be very precise with this bird, firing when you’re right up against the edge of a vertical structure or in some other tight spot, and there are just way too many instances of the game treating you like you’ve hit an obstacle even though you tapped below that point. The Star Wars games gave a little leeway, where you could use a bird’s ability a split second after hitting an obstacle, and having that margin for error greatly increased the enjoyment of playing those games for me. I don’t understand why AB2 brought back a glitch from the original AB despite completely overhauling the game otherwise. It seems like such a small thing, but it made a world of difference for me today.

    That sounds like a tough level? There isn’t a goofy switch somewhere that can turn off the gravity well in question, is there? I seem to remember one boss level once needing to turn on some fans before being able to get up and over to the Boss, but maybe I am thinking of a different AB game.

    As for Matilda, it would be nice to have a bit of leeway. I totally know what you mean about the actions in ABSW — sometimes you even HAD to wait until you were in the thick of things in order to get enough damage done. Here it is the tiniest of nicks and your bird is ignited (Bomb), plowing the road (Terence), or well-nigh useless (everyone else).

    But I think collision detection has more issues than that. I have had both Silver and Chuck bounce off of pigs more times than I could count, and they don’t even get a Head Pop. They just fall away as if they have hit a wall. So there are issues with surfaces not registering right level of penetrability, and it has been that way from the start. You’d think they’d have it fixed by now, but no.

    Good luck on that last (for now) level! Don’t worry, there will only be another 20 levels to tackle in 10-15 days. You love that, right? *smile*

    Thanks,
    sutekh137

    @sutekh137 – If there’s a way to turn off the gravity wells, this is the first I’ve heard of it. They look the same in this particular boss level as in the other levels; since I’ve seen no turning off of gravity in my own experience or any walkthroughs I’ve watched (and I don’t recall this being possible for fans or any elements earlier in the game, aside from the geysers which you can “turn on”), I’m guessing there’s no way to do this.

    I haven’t watched the walkthrough for the final room of 520 – I really want to figure this out for myself, but I do sometimes watch walkthroughs to see how others approach levels I’ve already beaten. It’s here if you’d like to have a look at that last room.

    Angry Birds 2 Boss Fight Level 520 Walkthrough – Bamboo Forest Gravity Grove

    While I haven’t experienced the issue of birds bouncing off pigs like they were stone, I did experience a glitch a while back where all of the birds remaining in a room became indestructible. They could fall from very high distances and have heavy loads dropped on them, and they wouldn’t pop. It wouldn’t persist when I restarted the level, but it was very annoying because it would happen without warning, usually on a room that I would have cleared with a single bird if not for the glitch.

    I don’t mind that new levels are coming. It would be nice if I could take a mulligan on the one I’m struggling with, skip ahead, and then come back to it, though.

    With your vast experience have you noticed it seems the smallest pigs suddenly have enormous amounts of stamina and mostly find a place where they will never be hit with the remaining birds? Today I had one SKIP ACROSS A PLATFORM until it got stopped by a structure. I have never seen this before. I am at level 367. I am not using any extra cards anymore since they raised the prices. I play the level and suddenly things go right and I end up winning with extra cards after numerous attempts. Thanks

    @david-martin

    @dallasreds – I’ve got numerous screenshots of those tiny pigs having rolled into impossible-to-reach crevasses. I just don’t know where to upload ’em in order to share the misery here.

    I finally beat level 520 this evening. Felt no satisfaction in doing so because the solution was as I suspected – just have a bunch of birds left and apply sheer brute force. I watched the walkthrough, and even though they got incredibly lucky and got the King Pig into his final position with the first bird, it still took them three more shots to finish him off. Terrible level design on that one. I have no desire to ever go back to it.

    Right before coming to the nest I was shaking my head mumbling “da– immortal pigs!!!???”…. Seems to me the smaller pigs have gotten much harder to kill and inexplicably end up in places that are unreachable. My scores, as a whole, are much lower since the update but so are my opponents. I’m only drawing (5) spell opponents 25% of the time as opposed to over 80% of the time before the great Easter debacle. I’m really struggling on the new GRAVITY levels- been on level 509 for 3 days. I will stay stuck there if I have to because I’m never spending another nickel on this sucker. I believe the theme song to these post update green bacon slices is “IMMORTALITY” by Pearl Jam. Wishing you folks the best!!!

    Small, hard-to-kill pigs are the bane of this game. In my experience, what happened more often to me was that a small pig in a box (<SNL mode>”It’s my pig in a box!”</SNL mode>) will fall from a great height after a tower topples, his box will break as he lands, and he’ll be none the worse for wear. And yes, he often rolls into a very hard-to-reach spot.

    Other times I have blown up Bomb, Matilda’s egg, or dynamite right next to a pig in a box (usually stone) and the pig survives. Nuh-uh. No way that should happen. Yes, a box offers protection, but not from a ground-zero explosion.

    And Rovio should definitely stop putting tiny pigs all the way at the bottom of a structure, surrounded by stone. Because unless you have Silver or Bomb, you aren’t getting to that thing (and sometimes not even then). That’s part of the randomness that I really hate — pig placement is critical but not something we necessarily notice in the randomness. But if all the pigs are distributed at the top of a structure, easy-peasy. When they are closer to ground it might be a 2 or 3-bird scenario to deal with. Capricious nonsense.

    Top of the morning to you Sutekh137 and greetings from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky. The little pigs are the bane and the Blizzard is the scourge. I’m drawing more blizzards, blow up piggies and more duckies than anything. I’m slinging the same birds as always, landing in the same spots but yet getting different results. Perhaps that is part of the randomness you speak of? Whoever plays my recorded data is a lucky fellow cause I stink. I recently took a week long sabbatical from this game and I’m grateful I did. It helped cool my jets and enjoy it more. It’s real easy to get sucked in to this sucker on an all day basis.

    Take care folks and have a wonderful day wherever you are!!

    I played the Arena pretty much continuously for the past couple of months, and have the medals to show for it in Diamond League (I think I at least placed every time). So, Arena levels are not too bad, though I do better at some than others.

    What you speak of is definitely the randomness I am mentioning, and it takes all the fun out of it for me. Granted, the randomness must work in my direction as much as it doesn’t if I can win Diamond League, but part of that is also getting in 12 battles a day by watching the clock every three hours. *smile*

    But yes, little pigs, Blizzards, and randomness are a problem. I should think of one more terrible thing and we could have the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. *smile* Teleporter pigs, maybe?

    Thanks,

    I 1,000,000% agree about the teleporter pigs. They are an outright abomination to all things good in this world. They are the true members of Satan’s army. The only time I’ve used the F— word in the last 4 months involved those minions of Hell. The vein is throbbing in my temple just writing this and thinking about them.

    @david-martin

    My favorite scenario (and by “favorite”, I mean I’m most likely to tell Rovio to go do something anatomically impossible to itself) is when you have a teleporter pig on the right, and a tall structure you can barely clear on the left with a laser pig on top of it.

    There’s probably an umbrella pig in there somewhere, too. Just on the off chance that you get everything else right. If he’s the last pig left and it’s the last room, of course your final card will be a Pig Inflater.

    I just read your previous posts after I wrote my post about mini piglets, so I see it’s happening to everyone. I had one today that was in a stone box. The blast wave from bomb took out the box and the pig survived. It sounds like all of us need to take a deep breath, relax, and take a break from this addiction !

    Green Whacker
    @dragonofheart73

    Adding to the horror stories of the indestructible mini piglets, I once had Terrance bounce on top of one of them at least 3 times before finally squashing it. They are sure tough to crack. Even once I sent one of them flying across the screen, hitting squarely on stone wall and falling down to the floor then it laughed.

    Dallasreds: What we need is an Angry Birds 2 Rehabilitation Center offering a 30 day program. Instead of AA meetings, we will have ABA meetings (Angry Birds Anonymous). This is a 12 step program to help those suffering from a chronic, progressive illness known as Angrybirdism. The first step in anyone’s recovery always has to be a willingness to ask for help. Well, I need help. It took me awhile to hit rock bottom but level 513 just got me there. I think I stand a better chance of hitting the lottery than I do of beating this level. My name is DWhite and I’m an angrybirdaholic.
