The brand new, featured packed, Bad Piggies “Rise And Swine” update has is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android via Google Play with more platforms coming soon. Version 1.3.0 of Bad Piggies looks to be a fun update that not only contains new levels, but new items and the ability to record in-game videos.
PC users: Please see our separate post for additional details about obtaining this update.
So without further ado, here’s what’s included in this update:
- 15 new levels levels in the Rise and Swine episode, with 30 more “Coming Soon”. It’s interesting that they decided to squeeze Rise and Swine between the previous episodes. The implication here is that all the previous names are now wrong. Not to worry though, we will update everything once we know this wasn’t a mistake (doubtful that it was). As a friendly reminder, don’t forget that you do NOT need to perform all three required objectives in a single run in order to obtain 3-stars on a given level. Our walkthroughs are live if you need help!
- More skulls! There are two new skulls scattered across the 15 levels. If you need help finding them, our Complete Hidden Skulls Guide is there for you! Again, there are only two skulls in this update, despite the on-screen display.
- New Sandbox level. These are very different, requiring you to collect 20 star boxes scattered across the massive level, using as many contraptions and tries as you need. We will be updating our Complete Sandbox Guide soon as well.
- One new Road Hog Level! Walkthroughs can be found here.
- New Items include:
- Suction Cup Tires which allow you to stick to walls and drive upside down!
- Spring-Loaded Boxing Gloves that can propel you forward or be used to launch you up into the air.
- ^^ I’m sure Pigineering will come up with some ingenious ways to incorporate these new items into some amazing vehicles!
- Three new achievements in GameCenter!
- New bugs? Repaired bugs? We have a forum thread and would love to hear from you.
In-Game Video Recording via Everplay
An interesting new feature added to the iOS version of the Rise and Swine update is the ability to record videos in game using Everplay. We will write are more in-depth article about this feature soon, but it currently allows players on iOS devices to record contraptions, strategies, etc. and share them via Everplay. From there you can also share your “Replay” on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or via email. I haven’t tested these features yet to see exactly how they work, but we will definitely be exploring this more soon.
Word of caution, my iPad has crashed a couple times while navigating Everplay in-game. I’m not sure if this is a bug or not, but just something to be aware of. If it is I’m sure it will be addressed shortly.
Ok, here’s my thoughts about this update. Expect a text wall to follow. :P
First, the timing of this update is really shocking/amusing/interesting. While I’m anticipating the new Seasons update that has been reported for over a month and is still not released, this update, which was released (what seemed like me anyway), barely one day after it was announced. It seemed rather…rushed for me. Perhaps it is too distract us from the Seasons update? I’m really VERY curious what’s holding Rovio back from releasing the update…
But, like all Bad Piggies updates that I recall, this does not disappoint me and impressed me! The concept of plungers tires is really interesting! I was expecting a single plunger. The ability to record our tries is also very cool! A great letdown that this is not available in android…… The ‘jack-in-the-box’ feature is also very intriguing as I would like to see how it works in game.
Hm…a pun on “Rise and Shine” eh? Great! Somehow I do not have the talent of creating names related to pigs…
In conclusion, I really look forward to updating (I’m currently away from my phone) and playing “Rise and Swine” !
Omega X
i think tomorrow will land the next update , 1 month after the first picture about this update
Unfortunately, it most likely is not. Rovio has said so.
Are there Angry Birds in in this update? My guess is, NO.
Answer: No
I think they will be in the next 30 levels update, like in Flight IN The Night episode :D
* Next 15 levels
@josm There are total 45 levels in Rise and Swine with 15 current levels + 30 coming soon. So, next update should be of 30 levels :) Tell me if I’m wrong :D
I have only one page with 15 levels coming soon (android)
But the post says 30 more levels coming soon.
And every episode has 45 levels in BP :D
Weird. Because there are only 2 chapters.
My device is crash after update, try restart can play it, but in game is little lag.
And game is hide navigation bar (tablet bar on below screen, what that call?).
Level 2-II may be the hardest level in Bad Piggies yet, unless I’m missing a concept here. Finally got three stars after more than an hour trying.
I used a mechanic in this level. The solution is very easy, but never in my live I would have found it by myself.
I agree. This level was tough. The solution I finally landed on is pretty repeatable. I’d definitely be curious what others came up with.
Congrats to your solution!
Played the first 7 levels and they are fun. Entirely different concept from the AB 3-star games and it is nice to have the diversity of game play. It keeps the interest up and fresh.
They probably squeezed this chapter in because it takes place in the morning. Probably, the update routine is: Morning, Afternoon, then Night.
In conclusion, the next update will probably be squeezed between “When Pigs Fly” and “Flight in the Night”.
Elephant in the room: What’s up with the 3rd skull that can’t be found in the new levels? I now only have 32/33.
You probably haven’t found one somewhere else, or it’s a bug.
Same for me…
Just found 2 also. Could the 33rd be so well hidden?
Looks like Power-ups might come to BP. On the BP survey you can chose what you want to come in the next updates, and power-up is one of the things you can chose.
This looks like an interesting update! I can’t wait to play it, but I’m assuming that, as always, the plunger wheels only go clockwise.
Still no achievements for Mac. :-(
I could cry or maybe die. I lost all progress on Bad Piggies with this update. I had a lot troubles with some levels, couple weeks ago I finally got 3* on all , got all stars in SB levels and now everything is gone. Isn’t that terrible?
But I love BP and this is only reason to play it again, otherwise game doesn’t have that AB replay value. Maybe this is what I needed to play bP again?
I love new levels, looks like BP became real engineers. Definitely I’ll have busy weekend, luckily that Seasons update didn’t come out today. Well, everything the best, I am sorry for a ranting (be free to remove post if you find this inadequate or irrelevant to post).
Uh-oh. I’m a bit hesitant to update my copy now… has it happened to anyone else?
@rizdub, this never happened before in two years. I calmed down now, but I was freaking all day after I realize that all my progress gone and that I don’t have back up. Actually there were possibilities to retrive (I belive) as size of BP on my iPad was 138MB and application size in iTunes store is 44MB, probably that difference has something with my game datas but I did what is the worst, i deleted application from device.
The application is stored in a compressed archive (ZIP file) in the App Store. It is expanded as part of the installation process. This should account for the difference in sizes.
@greenimperial thanks for clarification. I wondered what makes size difference between application size in store and size of application once it9s downloaded on device.
I love the ability to record in-game video’s. I don’t want to jailbreak my Ipad’s, still it is a long time wish to do. Thanks Rovio – and hopely you will build this feature into the other games of AB (please in ALL of them).
That’s kinda great!
but I don’t think if Angry Birds will suitable with everyplay recorder (since Angry Birds concept is just pop the piggies, and get 3-stars while Bad Piggies are more than get 3-stars)
Sorry if I don’t understand, but what do you mean when you said that the previous names are now incorrect? Are you talking about the numbering of past episodes?
Remember the original “Bad Piggies” comic which included a boxing glove BEFORE this update’s release? They were clearly teasing us.
In the picture before the levels you can see a shadow of chef pig :)
Nice to see him in the next 30 levels :)
Me too, it would be awesome to see him also in the ending :)
recording will also be available for android in the near future….says rovio
Sorry, but is it out for android yet?
Omega X
Yes!
But coming soon to the Amazon App Store.
33 skulls?
I just got the last skull in this level and I’m sure it said 33/33 when it scrolled up the screen.
I’m think this has been answered before, i.e. “no”, but is there any screen that shows the current skull tally? I really want to know if that was actually 33 or if my eyes deceived me.
There are only 32 Ian; and no running total, unfortunately.
Could a new skull have appeared in one of the other episodes that wasn’t there before this update?
I don’t think so. Each has exactly 10.
A question about Everplay and Angry Birds Nest: Wouldn’t it be cool if you made an Everplay account and/or made walkthroughs via Everplay? I guess you wouldn’t know how to build the vehicle as you can only record it after you construct the cart.
We have our own methods of recording gameplay. Everplay would be an additional trial on the RAM of the device, so we try to avoid that as much as possible. This way, our videos are at 720p and smooth HD.
Bad Piggies 1.3.0 update OUT NOW on PC!!
how to In-Game Video Recording via Everplay in android
Everyplay is not yet available for Bad Piggies on Android. It will be in the future, according to Rovio.
