Today is a good day for users outside of Apple’s sphere of influence. First, Android users (via the Android Market and Amazon Appstore) can enjoy the first 15 levels of Surf & Turf, now available in Angry Birds v2.1.0. Furthermore, PC users now have access to the Trophy Room bonus levels in Angry Birds Rio v1.4.4. Finally, Mac users can now play Cherry Blossom levels in Angry Birds Seasons v2.3.0. We expect that these updates will continue to circulate, so keep an eye on your App Stores if you have not received them yet.
Update for Android: Android users should download the v2.1.1 (bug fixes) update for ABo.
Update for Mac: Rio v1.4.4 and ABo v2.1.0 are now available in the Mac App Store!
Update for PC: ABo v2.1.0 is now available from the Angry Birds Shop!
Updates for Playbook: Rio v1.4.4 is now available in the BlackBerry App World, which includes both Trophy Room and Smuggler’s Plane! Also, ABo v2.1.0 is now available, which includes Birdday Party and the first 15 levels of Surf & Turf! Finally, ABS v2.3.0 is now available, which includes Wreck the Halls, Year of the Dragon, and Cherry Blossoom!!

A quick word of caution. The Angry Birds leaderboard has been updated to include Surf & Turf. Please don’t enter your scores on the Surf & Turf Facebook leaderboard unless they were actually achieved on Facebook. We are looking to keep the Facebook and ABo leaderboards 100% separate.

Good to know. However, recently my Amazon app wanted to update on startup, and I let it, forgetting that it tends to get goofed up that way, so now, I’ve got to uninstall it, then reinstall it, and input all of my data before I can get S&T on my Android.
Bummer….
The last time Android got an update was for the Trophy Room, correct? I believe it took another week or so to come out on iOS. I hope it’s quicker this time around for the Surf and Turf levels – I can’t stand playing on Facebook :)
I just emailed Rovio to see if the ad supported version will over write the T-Mobile Mighty Eagle version. Every time I email them they say it will, and that the T-Mobile version will get the updates with the Mighty Eagle. I’ll let everyone know if they say anything definite this time. I don’t play on face book, so I’m dying to try Surf and Turf!
I don’t use face book version, either, so I am glad about the update. Just when I thought I would rest a bit from Angry Birds-trying to recover from those Danger Zone levels-I have to play again. Rovio sure is busy! No matter what you paid for one of these games, you certainly get more than your money’s worth :) .
Actually that’s incorrect. I’ve got the T-Mobile Might Eagle version. I’ve updated from the Amazon Marketplace to get it to be Ad Free. I’ve also updated it back and forth between Google Play and Amazon Marketplace (Sometimes Amazon gets the latest updates first, sometimes Google Play). After all of this, I still have the Mighty Eagle, all of my data, the latest updates, and still no ads. I’m pretty sure the data for what is ‘Unlocked’ is not saved in the App but in user data.
Wow Mike, that’s really nice!!! I emailed Rovio when Birdday Party came out, and they told me I would lose the ME and my scores if I updated. I think I’ll try updating.

As far as I know, kindle fire automatically updates the game for you.
I have had to go hunt down every update I have gotten on my Kindle Fire. It is supposed to automatically update, but I haven’t seen it actually do it yet.
Well, Surf and Turf automatically updated for me.
Me, too, I kept trying to find the update in the app store and hadn’t actually opened the game. Finally, I just went to the game and there it was :). I like the new levels, looking forward to the rest.
So it seems that the extra waiting didn’t bring any special goodies, like in-app purchases… I guess that’s how they balance the trophy room incident: 3 weeks of waiting for 3 days of an earlier release! :P:P:P
Btw, could anyone from the ABN team release some stats about what platforms the AB players use? Is iOS really so dominating that explains this consistent behavior from Rovio? And I don’t only speak for Android but for every platform other than iOS based ones.

Are you asking if the Orange Bird is in any of the Trophy Room levels? If so, the answer is no; but the Orange Bird does appear in some of the Smugglers Plane levels.

BTW, I don’t know if I should report it here – after the update, the game force-closes on cutscenes (that is, when you try to enter the first level of all previous episodes, or upon completion of the last level of all previous chapters). There’s no problem for S&T, of course, because there are no cutscenes!

Won’t do. As I have no backup of my scores, I daren’t try the uninstall-reinstall method. I had suffered enough from the loading issue in AB Rio already. :(

Personally, I am glad Surf & Turf is finally available for Android. I can not get good aim on Facebook or Chrome. I pretty much just fling and pray on those. It’s just nice to focus on a certain aiming point.

On SaT level 6, there is a barrel which is very difficult to break. Seeing this, I thought whether it would yield anything (like a GE or something of the sort.)

I haven’t heard much about this recently, but you should be able to go through and find all 15.
For those looking for some symbolic reason for an upcoming release date for the next chapter of Space, the Space Needle’s 50th birthday celebration kicks off this Saturday. Since there is a level modeled after the Space Needle, this could be as good a day as any for the new release.
That makes sense, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s when the release is!

Not aware of how to update via Samsung Apps. We report about Amazon and Android Market here.
What type of phone do you have? If you own a newer Samsung phone, it should have Android OS. Unless it’s a Focus or Omnia, which are Windows phones. They changed the name of the Market to Google Play. Sometimes, for some reason, on my Samsung Fascinate it will not tell me I have an update for Angry Birds games. Try this: Go to Google Play, you should be on the main page. Hit your menu button and select My Apps. Scroll down to your Angry Birds game(s) you know should have a pending update. Select the app and it might say Update. If it doesn’t, power off your phone, remove battery, put battery back in and power up your phone. Go back to Google Play and see if your apps are ready to update. If that doesn’t work, contact Samsung.
My account on Google Play won’t function.
Sounds like you should bring your phone somewhere for diagnostics.

I wanted to post this down here so people would see it. I have the T-Mobile version of ABo for Android with the Mighty Eagle. Rovio told me that if I updated it through the Markets, I would lose my score and Mighty Eagle.
A few posts above, Mike told me I wouldn’t lose those.
Well, today, I updated using the free version from Android Market/Google Play, and he was right, I still have my paid version, and Surf and Turf and Birdday Party both have the Mighty Eagle, and my score is still there! Anyway, if anyone else has the T-Mobile version, just update to the free version, and you will still have your paid version plus the ME and all of your scores!

with the exception of ham’o’ween and wreck the halls, Seasons hasn’t made duplicate holidays. I think they should make thanksgiving and back to school holiday.
It’s because Christmas is THE major holiday, and Halloween was ABS’s first episode… preserving the history. I second Thanksgiving/back to school, better than halloween/christmas again, in my opinion. :)
