One strategy for Angry Birds Short Fuse level 27-9 is to fling the Orange bird into the right balloon, trying to topple the nearby tower in the process. The explosions should clear most of the left side of the level. Topple the tower with the next Orange Bird to clear the three little piggies gone to market on the left side. The score in the video below is 154,250.

180440/1 with this.
1st) high arc just over middle structure. activate somewhere in the area formed by the tower and the two balloons, before it hits the balloon. if all goes well:
a) the top of the middle tower is launched against (the top of) the left structure making that fall to the left, be destroyed and break/damage the pipe;
b) the inflated bird makes the rightmost balloon bump forcefully into the right structure and explode. this should make the boulder fall to the right and activate the airtank (?) below (only occurs if the boulder falls before the glass ball);
c) the airtank breaks the potion, inflating the pigs (two of them). hope for total destruction.

this is quite repeatable (other than my current best of 180k, got several 179k scores) except that i still haven’t found a consistent way to make both a) and b) occur simultaneously (activating higher increases the chance for a) but also the chances that the blue arrives first and boulder gets stuck; activating lower has the opposite effect/drawback). repeatability is good since the destruction caused in c) varies a lot, so you probably will need to repeat accordingly.

Once again I find myself thanking to mock a mockingbird (@vuelva). It took me a little while to fine tune for my Android phone, but eventually, I managed a high well placed arc that floated gently down between the 2 balloons, activating about midway down between them (adjust timing for your device & platform) so that the expansion not just helps tumble the middle tower as left balloon explodes, but most importantly the exploding right balloon topples right tower knocking the boulder rightwards, down the chute, into the gas bottle rocket & well you know the outcome by now. Watch out for the smallest piggie seated at the bottom of the middle tower. Besides the right & left vertical wood pieces, it’s surrounded on 4 sides by concrete is often quite difficult to eliminate. With some practice it actually didn’t take too long for the 173550, but after just a little more effort, I saw an even 179000. All I need for #1 is another 2100… LOL is that all???

Dang, 156400 and the last pig did not wan to die, two blue/purple eyes. Would have been 161400at a minimum with two left, for a high on this level. Think there is some movement yet left, just have to be very lucky with destruction, the same shot can range from 165k to 180k.

I use 2birds.
The position to aim at is the same as a video, but some timings to tap it are early.
Because the reason assigns a balloon to the second and the third structure.
The ball of the stone fell and broke the first structure afterwards.
Because the bottom pig of the second structure stayed, I cleaned it in orange birds.

Tried 1st shot like video, but with the exploding balloons, taking out right tower, and sending the bolder on a roll underneath, all that was left was a lone pig in the center. Orange bird to take out that. 164k

Several ‘near miss’ 1 birders but the lowest pig in the middle tower refused to pop! Tried different approach with high arc of the first bird to drop in the gap between the first and second tower. Took a few attempts but finally popped most pigs, with the boulder igniting the gas bottle for a 1-bird clear and above average score.

I just can’t get that bottom pig of the center tower to perish with any of the one bird options. He is one tenacious little pig. That’s why he built with stone. I’m officially whining. Above average on almost all short fuse (except one evil level.) hope this won’t be #2.

I found the boulder fell more consistently by high arching and hitting the top of the second tower on the right side, with more collateral damage when inflated just at the level of the right ice piece.

Sometimes the L factor kicks in early.
I spent two weeks on the previous two levels, and for this one less than a hour to get the top score.

I tried for more, but could not get even close to it.

This is very similar to @vuelva and @skyhookman, but I think it’s slightly different in execution and it yielded 190K and a high score in just a few minutes. The key is to “thread the needle.” Fling the bird in an arc so it falls between the two balloons barely missing the right one. Detonate manually when the bird is just above the base of the right tower. This detonates both balloons as well, completely destroying the right tower and damaging the middle. The boulder and the gas canister take care of the rest.

Heh. Checking the leaderboard activity for the last couple of days it looks my current 197K high probably won’t last too long. On keeping it under my hat, I considered it but I’ve gotten way, way too much help on these boards to not return the favor when I can.

prompted by this and dr o and bpc’s messages (i am not replaying old levels in general; due to lack of interest), i tried the level again. as almost all abo levels, this one has changed, in this case allowing substantially higher scores, caused by (i think) the expanding bird doing more damage now (stones breaking more easily). in particular, it is not so difficult now to make the 1st completely destroy the right tower by expanding next to the stones at its bottom, at the same time damaging the middle tower such that that is made to fall to the right, either immediately (then this should be slow enough for the debris not to block the canister) or due to the expanding pigs.

quite repeatable indeed. got 201220/1 (and several 195k+ scores in an hour of play) but more in it as i also got 196k/2 with damage that could have been done with one bird, i think.

As a relative newcomer (starting w/ V4.x) the numerous changes are a headache. The now-easier levels are quickly identified and high scores ratchet up, but with now-harder levels, e.g., 28-7, I’m permanently stuck with mediocre scores.

yes; it’s a mess. all these changes make the leaderboards less valuable as a tool for measuring one’s skills. in particular, changes in perfectly stable levels bug me (code refactoring should not lead to change in behaviour).

You might want to revisit Birdday Party as well. Several of the early levels are yielding very high scores with modest amount of work.

you’re right. replayed two of the early birdday party levels this afternoon (Cake 2 Level 9 (18-9) and Cake 2 Level 12 (18-12)) getting top score (for now) in both in way less time than i had spent to get my previous (pretty mediocre) scores on those levels. sigh.

201540 with one bird.

Instead of the high arc, I send the bird through the top pig and let it expand. It should happen after cutting the rope of the rightmost balloon.

Here is the trajectory and the final result for my best score.

More is certainly possible. I have been slightly cringing with that potential 202k near miss.

Well, finally this is the level where I break through the 87 million total on ABO. It took 2 1/2 months to get from 85m to 86m, then 5 1/2 months to get from 86m to 87m. I see no prospect of ever making 88 million, so this is probably the end of that particular journey. However, top 20 would be nice (22nd at present). On this level I used the @grrtammy method of threading the needle. Very easy and very repeatable. Good scores can be got with 1 or 2 birds.
