The latest update to the original Angry Birds Seasons (v1.5.0) is now available for iOS devices and Android via the Android Marketplace and Amazon AppStore. More platforms will be coming online soon. This update includes a the summer themed episode named Summer Pignic (links to trailer).
Notes:
- Summer Pignic 3 star and Golden Egg walkthroughs are coming online!
- You MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET THE FIRST TIME YOU OPEN A LEVEL (only the first time) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access).
- AMslimfordy noticed that there might be a bug in the cumulative score counter that you see at the top of the screen when you pass a level. It seems to be pulling your score from Trick or Treat, not Summer Pignic. If you notice your score counter going up and up and up after you pass a level this is why. Just give it a minute and it will finish. I imagine Rovio will fix this bug.
From what we know this update includes:
- 30 new levels with ONE NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED EVERY DAY (remember Seasons Greedings?)!
- 5 new achievements
- More Golden Eggs to be found (click for their locations and walkthroughs)
- A “Big Basket” bonus level that is unlocked when you 3 star every level
- Pig clouds (not really a feature, but I thought it was a cool touch)
- The Golden Egg numbering discrepancy between the iPhone and iPad has been fixed.

Yes, you need wifi to download the new levels, but after you play it, you do not need to connect to the Internet to access it again.
Wait so we need to connect to the internet EVERYTIME we open a new level. That sucks so much its not funny. I love the idea of a level a day, but for people with no wifi, that sux real hard. God I’m annoyed, becoz i havva no wifi. And nearest Mccas is like 30 mins away. I’m screwed….:( Any suggestions, tips of help guys???
The only thing you could do is get the level file from someone else and drop it on your device using iPhoneExplorer or PhoneView. You could also email [email protected] and politely voice your frustration.
You should see the negative reviews on iTunes for this day by day lock out.
There is no reason for it to access the internet and why it cannot do it via the phone network (2G) I do not know – it could just as easily refer to the local machine clock – okay some people might mess with their local phone clock for a while but does it really matter if you get all 30 levels straight off?
I hope that people will rate this update with less than 5 stars, so that Rovio won’t do this again.
The phone network / data issue is outside of Rovio’s control. Many carriers place restrictions on being able to use a data connection within apps. I have Verizon and I was able to download the level fine with wi-fi turned OFF. I know AT&T has some restrictions that Verizon does not.
True. But if Rovio had released all levels at once, nobody would have any problem.
True, but I believe they’re counting down towards something, which doesn’t work very well if you release all the levels at once.

Same method I employed eventually…got 96,710…At first I used 3 birds to get the 3 stars with 88,000. Not too difficult, but hard to nail the 2 bird method every time.

I can’t get the update! In Android Market the icon shows the summer, but it shows as “installed” on my device. Has anybody run into that problem? It doesn’t even show as updateable in the Amazon App Store.
The update hasn’t cleared Amazon’s QA yet, but I would think it would land today. Also, if you have the Amazon ad-free version, that could be why you can’t update in Android Market.
Update just came out on amazon. Even though I downloaded form the market I got amazon just for the exclusive Rio launch :D
would be nice if they finally released the 3 updates we were waiting on for MAC! we only received the beach volley update,weak 30 levels,still waiting on carnival update,mine and dine and the entire seasons game! thanks a lot rovio for ignoring us mac users wh o paid the most,yet the free and 99cents versions get the updates first.

Rovio tweeted yesterday that Carnival Upheaval will be out for Mac (and we assume PC) ASAP. It takes extra coding to change the game from mobile to computer. I think we can also expect v1.6.0 for Mac/PC in the coming weeks.
Rovio’s announcement for Seasons going to Mac and PC was most specific when it said summer. It seems that this update will launch the Mac/PC version of the game, at least based on the trailer.

You mean the game crashed when you tried to open Level 1?
It downloads to 100% then says “download error, try again”.
Moreover, I cannot see AB and AB Season in the update list of My Apps on the market.
Previously it was all right.

As far as we know, all updates were submitted simultaneously. So it should just be going through Ovi QA. Again, just speculation.
do you think the hold up might be that the Ovi store are having issues with 1.6.0 like the ios users had?
Couldn’t say. It may be so: Perhaps Ovi rejected the 1.6.0 (and 1.6.1) updates since there is loading issues. So, a reasonable guess would say Ovi will launch Mine & Dine with v1.6.2.
but are rovio likely to create a version 1.6.2 just for symbian users? Any ideas why its so hard to get info on the hold up? I’m 30 years old but I’m getting upset with all the waiting haha.

And I said that for an Advent calendar it was okay. But in summer it does not make sense. Or have you ever heard about a summer calendar?

Oh, I see the bug. You see, you only see the first 2 levels with the numbers. The rest are blank.
First , i didnt have internet. I opened Angry birds season summer pignic and I clicked on the icon, its the number 30, und then came a push news: Network error! After that the number disappeared. Then i made that with 29, 28, 27… Just number 1,2 didnt disappearer.

Wow. It finally comes out on Amazon and I can’t download it. And my closest McD’s that was supposed to have WiFi doesn’t. Err…. My EVO IS my internet. Maybe I can piggyback off one of my neighbors’ internet? Does anyone know if that works?
The game doesn’t care what type of internet or data connection you have, so yes, it should work.
The Amazon store won’t even let me download it at all without a wifi connection. Says it can’t do it over a cell connection.
My bad, I should have been more specific. Whether you can download the update with a data connection is determined by your carrier. I believe AT&T and others have some restrictions in this regard. I was referring to opening the levels, which also requires wi-fi or data connection.
I finally had to resort to the DroidX mobile 3G hotspot app, tethered to my Xoom tablet to download the update from the Amazon App store.
On the upside, I got to play three levels, not just one…
Downside: now I have to wait for the next level like everyone else…

I have installed the summer seasons update for android and when i try to play a board it says loading the crashes back to my home screen and i amrunning on wifi. Any suggestins
First, reboot your phone and then try opening it again. This should free up the RAM required to play.
i have rebooted twice with the same crash. I am running android 3.0 i have 230mb available ram.
If your game is crashing when you are selecting Day #, then the problem is that you MUST be connected to Internet (WiFi or 3G) to unlock the level
Download will not occur over cell signal, I get a WiFi signal and the download fails. Why would they create a game that requires WiFi for a phone? The Christmas Seasons game was one level a day over a normal connection, why the daily WiFi connection?
With Seasons Greedings, I believe you could hack the files to unlock all 25 levels in advance. With the daily WiFi download, there is absolutely no way, since the .lua files don’t exist until 8am UTC that day.
I was able to download the new stage through normal connection.
1.5.1 is now available on iOS. Doesn’t fix the mad score counter for me.
Strange. I don’t see the update yet. Once I do I can try to find out what it address. It may fix the Facebook / Twitter level bug or something else.

I have a mytouch 3g slide phone that has an 3g internet connection and when i try to open up the first level of the update to summer pignics it still force closes back to the home screen on my cell phone. What can be the problem with this or can you fix this?
First I would reboot your phone and try again. If that still doesn’t work your carrier may require you to actually have to actually have wi-fi, not just a data connection. Let us know.

The score total that appears in the bar at the top of the screen after completing a level seems to have a bug…On my iPhone, it starts with my actual current score, but then the numbers start scrolling and don’t stop until it shows a score of over 4.5 million. It does this everytime time I complete a level. Game center and the episode selection screen show the correct score. Obviously, this isn’t a major issue…I just thought it was weird.
Known bug. It’s counting the score for Trick or Treat by mistake.

Why is the background in not from summer pignic?
Does anyone know how I can play the game without service? It is already downloaded and and on my phone. I am in Iraq so my service is temporarily turned off. I was able to play Mine and Dine, but this new pignic has the pop up of no service. My husband back home said that if I could get the first day to play then I would be fine. Please advise! Thank you!
You MUST be connected to Internet to open a level for the first time. The game uses the Internet to check the official time to see if the level should be unlocked. After a level is opened via Internet, it can be played whenever with or without service.
Angry Birds Chrome got version 1.1.3 with Angry Birds Seasons advertisements on the side. Also, on the pause screen it has Rovio News which can be enabled or disabled.

I have router with Wi-Fi but the battery in Sony Erricson XPeria X10 Mini quickly runs out because Game + W
You should only have to have it on the first time you open a new level. From that point forward you should be able to turn it off and play as normal.

Any droid users downloading through the Amazon Appstore having problems with the initial download of the update? I enable my WiFi and have a strong connection but the download stops and fails. I cannot even download the update let alone the individual levels. I’ve restarted my phone, restarted the appstore, tried EVERYTHING.
Anyone else having this issue?

Hey now…. I’m not THAT old! I’m a Spring Chicken compared to these old birds ;) but thank you anyways haha
though I think the one-level-per-day thing is cool I partly think that maybe it means that (a) they’re being lazy (which I doubt) or (b) they’re working on some top secret update or something (which I hope).
All the levels exist, I assume, so I doubt (a) is correct. I am convinced that this is a 30-day countdown to some announcement or launch. IF I had to guess what that countdown is, I would say (based on the safari-hat / subtle-mine possible-hint) the 8th world of Rio and/or 16th world of Mine and Dine.
Just a guess, and hopeful at that.
Maybe its the sync system that is to be released at the end of the 30 day countdown…..
Anyhow can’t wait to play tomorrows level 4!
