This is our walkthrough video for Angry Birds Rio Rocket Rumble Star Bonus Level #3. The level is unlocked by earning 50 stars in Rocket Rumble. One strategy is to send Terence at the base of the first tower to clear the path. Then carefully send the Yellow bird into the tunnel, so that he ignites all the detonation cords. The score in the video below is 134,270.

“Carefully send the rocket bird into the tunnel?” You’ve got to be kidding! Most of the time he refused to go. Mostly when he did condescend to enter the tunnel, he stopped part-way. Finally managed to get 3*, which I notice is above average.
Please don’t make this a challenge!
After studying the video “very carefully”, I can get the bird into the tunnel frequently enough, though not always reaching the last fuse. It helps tremendously if the path is totally clear, including mushrooms in the tunnel. Should have a score around 30k after first bird. As in video, pull second bird straight back, activate over the middle of the second stone island.
Like others I have difficulty timing the second bird. As an alternative I’ve shot rocket man up high and let him hit ground to self activate. After many tries I found angle that would get him to enter the cave on his own. Scores around 130 K like this. Finally did get timing down but only slightly better scores.
Great strategy. Worked well for me. These rocket birds are too hard to handle on the iPhone platform.
I’m surprised there aren’t more complaints for this level. First for this ridiculous bird that’s nearly impossible to aim, and second for giving said bird a mandatory path down a tunnel only a pixel or two wider than the bird itself. I get Terrence in more than the hated bird but of course that’s a tease. He goes in and gets stuck a millimeter before the fires fuse. And ya only get one shot with hated bird for a 3* score. This is my throw the phone at the wall level of Rocket.
I totally agree. The new bird, while challenging, is not designed with mobile phone users in mind. 10″ iPad, yes; 3.5″ phone screen, not so much. The ridiculous bird is almost ridiculously impossible to aim on such a small device on any level, let alone this crazy one. I am surprised Rovio appears not to have considered this when conceptualizing this new Rocket Chuck. Hello crazytown, as this is the only level I cannot obtain 3 stars on, ugh!
I managed to 3-star, but did not much enjoy playing these Rocket Chuck levels. It’s too random. If they come out with more Rocket Chuck levels, I might just give them a miss.
It’s important to have the tunnel opening absolutely clear with the first Terence. Any debris will just slow Rocket Chuck, and he will poop out before reaching the last detonator cord. Ideally, you’d get Terence a little way into the tunnel, just short of the first detonator cord. That way a few mushrooms will be gone and not able to impede Rocket Chuck’s progress.
Forget about the second set of birds. I managed to detonate all cords with the second Rocket Chuck, but scored less than 120,000. If you don’t get the tunnel clear with the first Terence, just start over.
This is definitely one of the most challenging levels of the rocket rumble episode. It took me quite a while before getting a three star score, but finally figured out a repeatable strategy, very much as described by @bonneypattycat above.
1. Let Terence clear the pathway to the tunnel entirely. This should give a score of around 29k to 30k, depending on whether he clears some of the mushrooms in the tunnel. Any debris left in front of the tunnel will divert Rocket Chuck to go into a different direction or slow it down so it won’t reach the last fuse.
2. Launch the second bird (Rocket Chuck) horizontally and activate it midway above the second rock. The timing of activating the rocket will determine which direction it will fly. Initially I waited activating the rocket until right before the entrance of the tunnel, with the result it would fly out of the tunnel in the opposite direction. This was obviously too late and the right moment is somewhere above the second r ock. With a bit of practice to find out the right moment of activating, Chuck will fly right into the tunnel all the way to the end, activating the fuses of the rockets along the way.
3. To get the required 133k for a three star score you need some luck for enough debris to be destroyed. I had many times a score around 130k – 132k before finally a few times 133k – 134k.
Like some of the comments above, I found this level quite frustrating as Rocket Chuck seems to follow a random direction, but in the end it is all about some practice and the right timing. Compared to some of the other levels the required score for three stars is definitely more challenging.
Good luck!
Thanks @flying-dutchman2, your timing tip for rocket Chuck totally saved my sanity!
thank you @Flying Dutchman2! your specifics saved my sanity! no idea how the top score was acheived but that score is safe! glad to shut the door on this 1!
Finally 3* after even some 2-bird clears in the 131K/2* range. Key for me was to NOT zoom out view so I could keep birds as close to horizontal as possible for launch and to see point over second rock to fire rocket as clearly as possible. Not the longest totally time spent on 3* for level! but it was up there.
It helps if you zoom to see the rocket better and aim it a bit more easily. Got cross-eyed at the end, though!
Thank you, FD! 129,990!
Used your key of activating on the second rock. Second try, bingo!
Very frustrating level. Not sure I will try these rockets again.
My strategy after several hundred tries, launch first as video demonstrates, just a couple pixels above horizontal. You must take out about everything at the entrance of the tunnel. Impact so just nick vertical wood and full strike on horizontal ice. If you hit the wood triangle, start over. If debris left, the rocket will reflect straight up & you needto start over. Second shot no more than two pixels upward, better results with one. Activate the rocket as it passes just a fraction bit to the right of the seam in the second rock. Any debris in front of the tunnel will hinder the shot. I found this repeatable but it took several succesful shots into the tunnel to get over 3star minimum of 133,000.
Was very happy with 134,610.
Will not revisit this level.
Couldn’t leave it alone. Reproducible for a second day. Just make sure as much debris is gone. Don’t hit the wood triangle and second shot as above. Only took 11 tries to 3 star again w/ a better score.
@crazybob, thanks for the specifics on aiming Terence, could you give me (and all of us, it sounds like) a bit more info bout that “second rock”? thanks in advance!
I will try to clarify second rock. First rock or better description “pile of rocks” is the one closest to slingshot. Second is, on closer examination, a pile of rocks with a larger one to the top right, a tiny one at that level on the left with others lower left in the same pile. If I activate the rocket just past that seam between the two rocks, (tiny and large) assuming the debris is mostly cleared in front of the tunnel entrance, rocket usually ( 8 times out of 10) enters the tunnel. Will not always ignite all fuses so that explosions clear level for 3 stars, but is repeatable. Good luck.
Well that was painful, but I beat it with 133,460 using the strategy above and about 100 tries.
I also felt some frustration with rocket-bird; but now I think having a new fling-thing to figure out makes it interesting. I started following the rocket-point -around and around and ignoring the yellow bird; I found activating it based on the pointy end made my accuracy dramatically increase. Takes some concentration but hey- isn’t that what our gray matter is for? Hang in there!
has anyone attained 3 stars without the newbie entering the tunnel? sure hope so, last level needed!
Very random scores here, same shot, same debris (it looks that way) and other score. Slowly I get used to the rocket bird, the oldfashion point and accelerate is gone. Cards are being reshuffled (that’s what I think)
the best way to launch Rocket Rumble is to barely pull back to release…..Rocket Rumble moves slower when you barely pull sling back to shoot. Also, Using a clock to aim. If you want to aim/shoot at five o clock downward, tap/release at four o clock……..
This was a “power up box” bonus level for me – not sure how many extra points the box gave me, but I only scored about 350 points over my previous high score. I’ll take it though.
This level has the most ridiculous 3 star threshold ever!!!!!!
Got the second shot right several times, after hours of flinging, and still only 132000.
i think they lowered the 3 star score for this level after the last update.
i had 132200 and 3 stars..
I just got three stars with 129810. I think they lowered the three star threshold in one of the recent updates. I have a screenshot to prove it, if anyone cares.
@AMslimfordy You might want to adjust the leaderboard with the new lower threshold.
Yes @joeyba, I just got 3 stars with a score of 130,970. Followed instructions from @flying-dutchman2. What a relief to finally 3-star this level!
@AMSlimFordy 3* threshold seems to be lowered to 130,000 in Rio Rocket Rumble Star-3.
@Kelani, thanks for letting us know! This will be easier to 3* now!
cc: @BirdLeader
Another level with the 3000 point powerup bonus
I have to give credit to Manu Malin, my hero, for this one. I wondered how he got such a good score, so I tried other strategy. Send big red to break square glass/ice block on bottom left of second structure. Sometimes it will cause rocket just to left to blow and take out most of first structure, but it really doesn’t matter. Send second bird to hit the left portion of horizontal bottom plank. Bird will go through into tunnel all the way to end and with luck, take out remanding towers. Had several scores over 140K.
I can’t describe my feelings for that rocket bird here on this family-friendly site, but it finally co-operated enough to do it’s job.
Thanks @gordo402 for the great strategy. Terence theough the glass roof & the top of the glass vertical in the first structure, taking out the hollow glass square at the base of the 2nd. The firework did significant damage to the 1st, leaving just the bottom part.
Then the rocket aimed a hair below horizontal, activate to go through the tunnel to hit all fuses.

Thanks @gordo402 for the post and @comex666 for the video. A challenging level for the second bird but activating it with the purple rocket tip pointing to the right and slightly down seems to give it a chance of entering the tunnel.

First bird through glass “roof” of first structure into firework. Needs to blow up firework not set it flying. Second bird as video to set off remaining fireworks.
@sweetp I hope this album pic works. Not got a good success rate :)
first bird hit the roof on first structure, firework start.
second low, activate on half way, and fly in tunnel.
a little bit luck.
thx to all for the tips.

Thanks
Again @comex666 ‘s video spurred me on to try for the Underdog. First bird through the glass roof of the first structure and breaking the hollow glass block on the bottom of the second. It is good if most of the first structure is gone, but it isn’t totally necessary. As for aiming the second bird, all I can say is that it’s tricky and seems to depend on how much and what the condition is of the first structure. I didn’t get anywhere trying to activate the shot by what the bird was traveling over. I watch the bird and activate when the purple nose is faced toward the opening.
@sweetp for the underdog https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/stocktoad/album/picture/23387/
Congrats to @gordo402 for finding this brilliant alternate strategy and thanks for sharing it. As far as I can remember I was very frustrated with this level but now I could easily improve, finally I got 8k+.
Nothing new to report, first bird through the glass triangle into rocket, second through the tunnel. Very good results can be expected if the thick rocket on the right does not turn off immediately but stays in the tower for maximum destruction. This is how I got 144k and almost 147k, both with only 2 pieces remaining.
Here is a screenshot of what’s left:
Screenshot_2017-07-03-20-59-36.png
@sweetp final screen:
Screenshot_2017-07-03-20-59-56.png
I employed the strategy of @gordo402. Through the roof for first bird then into the tunnel with the second. Took many tries to get rocket bird to do what I wanted. I had little consistency getting correct activation point to enter the tunnel and make it to the end. But in the end I willed it to behave enough times to get an acceptable score. Very frustrating.
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/wicket182/album/picture/23391/ @sweetp
I just scored 145,570 points using the @gordo402 strategy. The same two shots, over and over and over again. Finally the bird AND the rocket cooperated. Many times I saw them separate when going into the tunnel.

Congrats to all the new puppy owners !
Good luck & happy flinging to all !!
I have to agree with what everyone has been saying about these “rocket” levels. Absolutely not my favorite; I’m happy just to 3-star, get above average, and move on.
Thanks for the zoom in zoom out suggestions, still no luck, about to give up on Rio, this is driving me crazy
