Thanks to MG (click his name to thank him as well) for discovering and sharing this method and confirming that the level is not impossible to to get Total Destruction on. Also, thanks for Scarbzscope for the video walkthrough, which is extremely helpful.
Below is an excerpt of MG’s write-up taken from his forum post:
“Firstly 2 blue birds, as others have mentioned just use them to take out first pillar on left side. Now The important one is the yellow one. I couldn’t figure out how to get it in the right spot w/o it disappearing before eagle landed to be able to use it to take out the right side effectively.
After taking out the pillar on the left with the blue birds, shoot the yellow bird as close to straight up as you can, and immediately tap again to launch it waaay up in the air. Then, quickly activate and launch the eagle tuna can so it lands on the floor of the level in between the left “stair case” and the main island in the middle. (Basically same trajectory as the blue birds, but since you took out the pillar it will fall to the ground there, or hit the rock on the left side and fall to the spot)
Shortly after you shoot the tuna can at the sweet spot above mentioned, the yellow bird will finally land, IDEALLY in the same spot as the tuna can (you want them to be basically touching each other at that spot). Then, cross your fingers and hope the yellow bird gets launched properly by the mighty eagle and effectively take out the right side staircase. And congrats on your last feather!
This isn’t a fool proof 100% destruction every time, and it is hard to get the yellow bird to fall in the right spot, but as I said I’ve had better success with this method than any other.”
In case anyone is just starting and having trouble with 4-2, the video did help a lot. I’m not sure if my iPhone is different than the others, but it gives me time to hit the eagle before the yellow bird disappears, so timing wasn’t an issue. It was more a matter of placement…and determination. Just keep pecking!
Can I just say… AMAZING!! Thanks so much for this. I have made literally hundreds of attempts on this level and have been stuck on 99% for an age! 2 attempts of using this method and there we have it :o)
Nice one!
Ok, thank you so much! This is an awesome description and video and extremely useful as I never would have thought to do this! TD on my fourth try!
I have tried this MANY times on Chrome but I can’t get the bird-bowling effect. Can you even do bird-bowling on Chrome? Thanks!
Thanks for helping me! MG and Scarbzone!
Finally got my last feather for this episode :D
Finally got Total Destruction with these many blocks remaining.
This level was hard, but I got the feather with MG’s strategy and with Scarbzscope’s walktrought! Thank you very much MG and Scarbzscope! :)
Alternate strategy, not relying on lucky yellow bird bounce: first blue birds as in video, trying for as much damage to the wood as possible. Second shot also on the left, but making sure the birds topple the left vertical concrete block. Yellow bird at sharp angle, bringing it down in full force on what’s left of the wood on the left side of the “main island”. Then, launch the sardince can so that it lands on the left of the toppled concrete, but still on the main platform. Got a feather this way.
Easier strategy:
1. Blue Bird high arc to destroy the far right three pigs
2. Blue Bird high arc to destroy the remaining far right three pigs and the wood structure/platform two of them they sit on
3. Yellow Bird high arc to destroy the remaining far right wood platform that the two pigs sit on.
4. Sardine can high arc to land on the seam just to the left of the mustached pig. Usually kills the pig. Aiming tip: leave a little space between the right edge of the can and the base of the sling.
I just launched the sardine can alone and landed it on the seam (killing the mustached pig) and obtained 97%. Guess what remained: the right and left platforms that two pigs sit on at each end of the indented stone structure.
My strat was very similar, but after targeting the right side with both sets of blues, I went for the left with the yellow, using a very high-arching shot. Both platforms were more or less destroyed, but the towers were still standing (important). Then I shot the can to the left of the pair of remaining pigs. Voila!
