Great news for Mac and PC users, as Rovio has released the latest update of Angry Birds just in time for the holidays! The Birdday Party (as in, Birthday Party) update launched on iOS devices on December 11th, the second birthday of the app, and features 15 new birthday-themed levels and a new Golden Egg.
First, if you were on the fence about getting the PC app, now is the time to do it. Rovio announced in their newsletter that from December 23rd through the 25th, all three Angry Birds apps are on sale for $0.99 USD each at the Angry Birds shop.
Next, the Mac and PC update includes many of the same new features listed in the mobile release, so be sure to check that out for more details.
Notice to Mac users: It seems that many Mac users are missing the datafile which includes the “expanded Orange Bird” imagery. We contacted Rovio, and they said they have already submitted a patch update to Apple. v2.0.1 has landed as a “stability fix” for Mac! This seems to solve the “Orange Bird Inflation” issue, but some users are still reporting super-sensative trackpads.
Notice to Mac and PC users: v2.0.2 has been released. This fixes the Golden Egg 1 bug, the trackpad sensitivity issue, the scores ending in 9 bug, and a few other small things.
Now, updates unique to Mac and PC.
- Mac and PC do not seem to have the new “Rovio Channel” pause screen.
- The Episode Selection screen has received a cool new makeover. But as Sal9 reports, the background of the Level Selection screen on Mac is a bit buggy. (We will be sure to tell Rovio about this.)
- The Golden Egg page has been changed to match mobile devices. No more do Mac/PC users have to deal with the massive one-page layout of Golden Eggs! (Complete Golden Egg Guide with imagery.)
- The three “Facebook Levels” of Ham ’em High have been added, which we have video walkthroughs for here. While this may not seem like that big of a deal, I think it’s safe to assume they will be added to Seasons as well, which means 1 more Golden Egg in Easter. Even more significantly, it means Mac and PC users can compete on an even keel on our leaderboards!
- Note: You may have lost the star on a Golden Egg or two. Simply re-defeating that level should get you the star back.
Bug Fixes!!
- Bug 19 has been fixed: You may obtain the star on the Big Brother Soundboard multiple times now.
- Bug 15 has been fixed: The Rio Football Golden Egg is now labeled as GE-22 instead of GE-20.
- Bug 22 seems to be fixed: The Rio Golden Egg (13-12) should be attainable by all now. Many users have reported the Egg simply appearing on the Golden Egg page, as though they had obtained it before. If you have more information, please let us know.

there’s a problem with the new set of controls on mac: if i sweep the trackpad back to the slingshot very often the next bird will launch. it seems too sensitive. also, would be nice to stick to one set of controls for all versions once and for all, they were perfect, why change?
actually i’ve just noticed that the bird will launch itself even without sweeping the trackpad, just clicking the mouse to use a bird’s power will often launch the next bird in a random direction. impossible to play this way

Weird, I opened Angry Birds on PC and I noticed that an extra level has been unlocked in all episodes even though I didn’t beat the other level. Is this part of the update?

No, he means that Level 2 is unlocked with no stars and Level 3 is unlocked too. There’s no eagle for PC either.
Cant I get stars on all GE levels, cause the ones like Angry Radio dont yield me stars?

For example, I have all 3 apps on iPhone, iPad, and PC (and 6 Mighty Eagles). I’ve had to pay for all of it at normal prices.

Hey slim, I decided to completely reinstall angry birds pc version 2.0.0 and I noticed that I am not able to obtain the golden egg in the white bird instruction screen anymore. Has anyone had this happen?
Do you already have it? Did you go through the “?” screen from the main page? Elaborate a bit so I can help you out. (No, I haven’t heard this issue.)
I had it before but I purposely uninstalled angry birds and also removing the rovio app data folder under users/account name/appdata/rovio/angry birds on purpose to restart the entire game. The thing is I don’t think anyone would be able to get that golden egg on pc only IF they COMPLETELY uninstall angry birds from there pc and reinstall fresh from the start.
It only happens on version 2.0.0 for pc
I may give it a try some other time, but I don’t have the time ATM.
It might have something to do with the new credits screen.
HELP!!!!!!
I updated to 2.0.0, three starred some of the new levels and Facebook levels, left, and came back. It asked me to activate the game again as if I hadn’t already activated before, though I still have my stars for the other worlds. I am afraid to type my key in again because it might use up my last use. Also, the highscores and settings .lua file are still there, though it says the settings lua file has been modified recently.
Same thing happened to me in an earlier comment on page 1. All the scores will still be there once you activate it again. If you don’t know if it is your last act. code, then I would get a new code while they’re on sale if you are on PC. Otherwise, it’s 5 dollars, I believe.
I would use your existing code. A nice thing about these codes is that they usually stay loyal to a particular computer. For example, I have a CD for Microsoft Office which I have installed 5 times, even though it only has 3 uses, since the motherboard was the same on every computer.

Um, theoretically it should work that way, but I don’t have any proof of it. I’m not aware of the coding structure used by Rovio’s activation.

Unlikely. Rovio already has a standalone .exe. They don’t need to pay another company to be a host.

Yes it is. Go to download.angrybirds.com and click on “Download Free Trial”. This will get you the 2.0.0 file. Then install it and you should be good to go. No reason to yell.
I’m not sure if this has been said, but did anyone notice that the new York map on the Rovio Channel is gone? It was replaced with the holiday comic.

Hey can I ask something first: I finished the Birdday Party on PC and before that while I was on the last level I saw a cake in the bottom so I try to hit the dynamite on the far right and a treasure chest came at the back and I used the white bird to hit it and I got the piece of cake, but WHAT DOES IT MEAN!!!! I tried looking at the golden egg selection screen but no new golden egg or in the episode selection screen WHAT DOES IT MEAN!!!!!

It earns the “Cakemonger” achievement on iOS, but nothing else. Just a fun tidbit, pops.

I disagree. The 26th was a holiday (Christmas observed), meaning all employees were out of the office. The Rovio office will reopen on the 27th.

I don’t see it right now, but I’ll poke around and see if it’s hiding somewhere. But I think it may be gone (for now) with the exception of clicking the RSS feed (along the top, the one between Chatter and Twitter).

Is it possible to sync the levels on PC with the levels on android or iOS platform? I would like to buy the PC version and charge on it all my levels that I passed with the high scores fro my mobile. Could it be possible? Thanks!
No, it doesn’t work that way right now, though Rovio has discussed a sync system which would seamlessly do this in the cloud. We hope that is still in the works.

Golden egg will probably not be lost, as you had it before the update, and golden eggs shouldn’t disappear :)
The Golden Egg is unlocked via code, and that code cannot be undone. So the Egg will be fine.
Chrome is not working on this site. The top where the yellow bar is, it’s not yellow. Internet Explorer does work. Safari doesn’t work at all. You can’t even access the site on Safari. Not sure about Firefox since we don’t have it.
I can further that by saying the yellow bar is not yellow on Firefox. It is on Chrome for me though, and I can access it on Safari, but it is very slow and the bar is not yellow. I don’t have IE.
The site was down briefly a few minutes ago, but everything should be running fine now.
Chrome seems fine on my end. Try refreshing the main page when you navigate to it — or clear you cache.
Safari loads fine on my iPhone and iPad. I can try downloading the desktop version and checking that too.
Safari on the computer doesn’t work, but I’ll try again. I’ll also try Chrome again too.
Forgot to say this: Chrome used to work perfectly.
I just loaded ABN on all four Web Browsers in Private Mode (so it wasn’t using cached data) and all four work fine. That’s IE, Chrome, FF, and Safari (all desktop versions).
In all likelihood, you are running cached data. Try clearing the cache for whichever Internet browser you want to use.
Update: Okay, got Chrome and Safari to work, just had to refresh on Chrome and clear my cache to get Safari to work.
I only really use Chrome and Safari, so I’ve got them working. I’ll try Firefox again later (it’s updating ATM – could be the source of the problem) thanks Slim :)
I’m having a really hard time playing on my mac computer since they made the Birdday Party for Mac’s and PC’s. I can’t shoot without loosing another bird in the process. I know someone already wrote about this problem but it is no longer fun if you can’t win without loosing all the birds. I can’t score three stars when, for example you try to explode the white bird and you loose the next bird in line. When you only have three birds to begin with. Is there a solution to this problem? I’m willing to try anything to get the old version back or a way to fix this problem.

Yeah, I’m having an active conversation with a dev right now. He’s on holiday and so he’s not in the office. He said the Mac fix went live (which presumably solved the “Orange Bird” issue), but I’ve informed him that the Mac App Store is still riddled with 1- and 2-star ratings. I suggested he forward the intel to the active devs to take a look.
Rovio just released a fix for ABo 2.0.1 for mac “Stability Improvements”.
Awesome, hopefully we get some feedback about it. I got a tweet from AB about it as well.
When the latest update came out for Angry Birds PC, my touchscreen PC would no longer work with the game. Is it just a glitch?
Not sure what you mean. The touchscreen feature? I’m not really aware of its application within the PC app. You would have to ask Rovio about it. In any case, I wouldn’t think it’s a glitch. Perhaps it was just nixed.
I can pull the birds back for launch on the touchscreen comp but can no longer initialize each birds’ feature with the touch screen
