Angry Birds 2 received it’s first content based update (v2.1.0) just three weeks after it’s world wide release!. This update adds a brand new chapter called “Pigsyland” — “Pig City’s first amusement park!”.
Included in this Update:
- 20 new levels of bouncing bumper chaos! Our Walkthroughs are coming soon!
- There’s a new pig in town teleporting through time and space.
- A bunch of bug fixes and tweaks. Leave a comment below know if you notice any new ones.
It’s also important to note that Angry Birds 2 is optimized for iPhone 5, iPad 3, iPad mini and iPod Touch 5G or newer. You can try it on older devices, but we can’t guarantee a smooth bird flinging experience!

Note it’s your turn. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.
Those new wizard pigs are a pain in the rear. Many times you think you have a level done and then one of these guys vanish and yreappears elsewhere. Then you have to waste another bird to get him. Have to admit these new levels are difficult.
Is wizard pig smarter than the other special pigs? Can he reappear somewhere that ends up popping him?
So far he has only reappeared on solid ground. So no I would say he can’t kill himself. Also yes these new levels are hard but I am enjoying them a lot more than the original levels because these feel more unique.
He can sometimes blip to a precarious area, e.g. a pile of debris that is still falling. I have had the wizard teleport to a spot and then die there a few times already (though not enough). Levels with balloon pigs and wizard pigs are cruel.
Also, I am down to 3 lives being “Full”. What a crock.
so, are the worlds just going to go in a never-ending cycle of Cobalt Plateaus, Pig City, then Bamboo Forest? I like them, but I just wish Rovio would give them..a more realistic look, like New Pork City should have tall houses/skyscrapers, Shangham should have pagodas and temples, Greasy Swamp should have more of a swamp-like atmosphere (like Path of the Jedi from SW 1), and Feathery Hills could at least have something to do with feathers- am I right? if you agree with me- comment below!
I do agree that’s why I kinda like this new update a lot more.
I was downgraded from 10 to 5 lives. Well done…
In general, if they have reduced the number of lives that is a terrible move from a public relations standpoint. If they needed money that bad then they should have charged $10 for the game initially and did away with the lives concept. I had considered paying for spells if needed, but now if we have less lives, it’s a matter of principal that I won’t. I already noticed that they went up substantially on Angry Birds Friends, before I had spent money on it, but now if I can just earn the coins, I will be less likely to spend a cent.
Does greed have to ruin everything eventually?
100 right!
One other comment, the disappearing bird was probably done to make you use additional lives. You should never downgrade a game from the initial release. Which sounds like what they did with the lives, the disappearing birds and the 45 minute wait instead of 30. If you want to finish it any time soon, you will almost have to pay. Not a very cool move no matter what company did it.
Must be an isolated issue with the lives. I still have the same number I had before, and they still take 30 minutes to regenerate. I play on iOS, so maybe the issues are all Android users?
@burbman, interesting about the new update changing the amount of lives and the wait time. I don’t think it’s device related because my friend and I both play on BlueStacks Android emulator, and while my original 5 lives and 30 minute wait time haven’t changed with the update, his 10 lives are now down to 5 like mine. Nasty shock for him. That he plays in Europe and I play in the US is the only difference we have. I can’t believe how Rovio can have this many versions of the same game floating around. And for what purpose? I would think it would be easier for them to have uniformity in all of AB2. Very odd.
I play on an iPad. My lives went from 5 down to 3. It appears that it might still be 30 minutes to get more, but am not sure if this is correct yet or not because I am out of lives. ;-)
I am on iPad and I still have 5 lives. I e had 5 lives since the soft launch.
I still have 5 lives, even after i updated the game on my tablet.
Bad update, it won’t play on my phone, same like Epic, How do I downgrade to an older version?
This chapter required nothing but luck. Hit something and things will fly around, hoping for total destruction.
I don’t like this kind of game.
I’m still getting 5 lives with 30 minutes recharge times. The wizard pigs are annoying but they do frequent end up dying in the process. The boss levels are difficult too. Currently on level 257, it’s a tough 6-parter. I like that they added a replay button.
Angry Birds 2 update released on Aug 26, 2015 will not allow the new update on my IPad Air IOS . I can’t play! Anyone else having trouble with the newest update?
The updates encouraged me to uninstall. My lives were reduced from 10 to 5. I had no choice but to update because it wouldn’t let me play otheewise. Get rid of the life system. I hate it. I won’t play with it. I won’t spend a penny. Constant repetative ads between levels and after levels makes the game irritating. Idiotic moves. I guess Rovio is no longer interested in remaining in business.
My lifes are down to 3 and I had to wait for 1 hour.
Level 258, stage 4 blows itself to bits very quickly.
Downloaded the update but the app will not open now. Says “cannot connect, try again.” Funny how everything else is opening through my strong WiFi but not this…. Sounds like I’m not missing much through from the above comments! Rovio screwed me on my new iPhone & took away all my slings, points, coins in the Friends Tournament so I guess this is becoming par for the course with them!
@ubermom are you on a Wi-Fi network when trying to open the app?
Yes. Safari, Google, Facebook, etc… open in rapid time yet, since downloading the update, this is the obit app that won’t open. Pop, Friends Tourney, etc… Aren’t delaying so I’m hesitant to call my internet provider… Baffling! However, I am working off an older generation iPad for gaming (iPhone screen is just too small) so, therein may lie the problem…
*only app (stupid auto correct!)
I have an iPhone 6 and I was getting the same problem- I uninstalled and re-installed and it worked BUT it dropped me from five lives to three ?
I’ve also updated my AB2 to the latest version (and ‘sacrificed’ AB Go! from my Android 4.4 phone to better accommodate *boohoo*). Personally I don’t see any change whatsoever regarding the energy system. There are a few improvements whereby they have added the replay button after you win a level, made the video button more conspicuous on the daily free gems message etc. But the variance between individual copies of AB2 is really curious. I may not know a lot about app programming but may I advise that Rovio do regular consistency checks on their content.
One thing that disgruntles me the most about Rovio is regarding their bigger apps – how they fail to make sure the greater portion of the megabytes moves into the SD card and not stuck in the device storage, which is why I was considering to remove AB Go! despite having played it almost daily and still have non-AB games that I rarely touch in my phone. But a shining example of an AB game well-managed in terms of storage space is AB Epic – the largest app in my device and also almost 1GB of it is inside the SD. Perhaps this is due to being under the expertise of third-party developer Chimera Entertainment.
After this update my full life number is only 3. before it was 5. now lives refill in 1 hour before it was refiled in 30min. what is going on? my girlfriend is still having 5 lives and 30min to refill each.
Rovio, fix this mess!
IMO, Rovio could care less! Sent them an email a week ago, left a customer support message every day the last three days & have heard NADA! They’ve got my $ so I guess the corporate bigwigs just don’t care anymore! Their customer support used to be fantastic! Close to deleting all of their apps I’ve downloaded & calling it a wash! Live & learn & get screwed in the process…
Wait! No! Do not delete all of them! The good-old ones do not deserve it. It would be more wise to only remove ones like AB2 and Transformers.
Is there any news on a Kindle Fire release for AB2?
I was downgraded to 3 lives with a one hour wait time
I have 5 lives/30 min. system. Why Rovio add lives system to game, when they can’t made one system for everyone? That’s disadvantage for many players.
Also I noticed ads between levels. Another bad move from Rovio.
Amazing!! Update already!! I’m still stuck on the 16th level….ran out of lives!! This will take me some time to complete!
i still cant get attached to the game. ill try again with this update.
This is the worst update ever,mi now have only THREE lives with a ONE HOUR wait time.
Also this is not piggy islands first amusement park, because the second sub zero track in angry birds go clearly is a amusmant park. Also angry birds go, angry birds epic, and angry birds 2 all take place on piggy island
“I”
I used to be a big AB fan but am no longer after AB2. Hate the way the ‘commercialized’ it. Stupid movies and limited lives. After latest update I only got 3 lives left. What happened to the initial 5?! Very bad move Rovio. You lost a big fan. Give us back our original AB game!!
Play levels 261-266 by guessing where the level is in the clouded area after 260. If you zoom in you can see 261. After that just tap around a little to the right and you can play up to 266.
Down to 3 lives and 45 minute wait here too. Rediculous. Had a few spells not work either. And birds that did nothing, literally.
I was downgraded to 3 lives with a one hour wait time. Take away the lives system and let me play all I want. I do not recommend this game to anyone.
It looks like Rovio is using their entire user base to conduct market research. Profits are down again ( http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/08/26/us-rovio-outlook-idUSKCN0QV18P20150826 ) and I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures.
Here is what Rovio support told me (very fast, but not a very good response) about having only three lives now:
=====
There is the possibility at present for there to be a different number of lives in Angry Birds 2 on different devices. The reason is that we are currently smoothing over the player experience to ensure that as many people find enjoyment in the game as possible!
=====
Let me define “smoothing over the playing experience”, from my perspective:
— Have a “lives” based system in the first place.
— Add a bunch of levels where randomness and hard-to-kill pigs reign (even more) supreme — teleporter pig SUCKS, sometimes taking TWO extra birds to kill him.
— REDUCE the number of lives allowed to conquer these new levels.
Yep, sounds real smooth to me…
Thanks,

The magic of Angry Birds 1 is no where to be found in 2. Well, AB2 was fun until the update. Rovio has shot itself in the foot. Unless there’s a way to play THAT’S FUN without forking over money, what’s the point.
Apparently Rovio isn’t following the old adage of those that fail to study history are doomed to repeat it. A few years ago, there was a rumor of a merger/buyout with the makers of Farmville. If those rumors have any truth, the additional rumors also indicate that Rovio backed out of the deal after looking at the other’s books (smart move). The reason why there were on the brink, and have continued to slide downwards, is that people are TIRED OF CONSTANTLY BEING CHARGED AND PAYING to play some form of long lasting game. Even if the merger/buyout rumors held no truth, it’s true that they have lost their edge since their Farmville heyday, and for the very reason that I mentioned above. When those rumors were out, Rovio didn’t have any game which attempted to siphon money from your wallet at an alarming rate. However, Rovio has indeed gone down that path, with the zenith of their attempts now being Angry Birds 2. I predicted back then that if they did follow Farmville’s path, they would follow the same fate (although admittedly probably not as harsh). Sure enough, they have have that constant pay-to-play in all of their games, and customers are tired of it, frustrated, worm out by it, sick of it, becoming upset, and generally just burned out on the idea. Rovio’s recent financials support that notion. To make matters worse, they try to jerk people around with “smoothing over the playing experience” and this just makes matters worse. Rovio: LISTEN UP! You want to make money again? JUST PUT OUT GOOD GAMES WITH POSSIBLE OPTIONS/PURCHASES AND CHARGE A ONE TIME FAIR PRICE. STOP THIS CONSTANTLY REACHING INTO MY WALLET! Think of the original Angry Birds (fair price) and the Original Mighty Eagle (ever lasting option – fair price) and Angry Birds Space Extra Levels (additional levels – one time fair price), and not Angry Birds + Power Ups (limited use options – constantly paying to use) or Angry Birds 2 (pay for lives, etc… – constantly paying). They didn’t listen last time…I doubt they will this time either.
