ToF changes?

The experience appears to be different across the playerbase:

I am one of those that has never had any ‘free to play’ or video option. Besides a short spell earlier in the year, which lasted a few days, I haven’t had the advantage.

So, perhaps you are in a group being ‘tested’ on or perhaps the option has been moved entirely, who knows.

@adaks1, that is part of what Rovio calls “experimenting“. The game is not same for everyone, because apparently Rovio does not care if all players are equal. They try different combinations of functions in game, attempted to find the sweet spot where users are willing to pay the most, while not too many users leave the game.

My main account did not have the video option anywhere at first, but gained it for ToF later for a short while, until it disappeared again. My FTP account had it in ToF from the start, lost it, got it back with same function in DC&KPP, lost it completely again for a short while… and just got it back to ToF.

Rovio may call it “experimenting”, but I call it pissing of the playerbase!

Today the video option appeared for only the second time, it appeared for one day back in the spring for me.

A decent run to level 30, at a net zero cost, plus a legendary hat and an ice cream one too. Probably a once or twice a year run.

Like the look of the legendaries, trouble is they are one less than the Samurais, so have little real value in gaming terms.

The last two days have been very kind to me in the TOF.

Yesterday I made it to floor 55 with a decent surplus of earned gems remaining. I did not hit a pig until the 21st floor, and didn’t hit another until the 37th floor. Hit two in a row in 53, and 54, so decided I wasn’t going to risk another 5 floors after opening 55 to attempt to reach 60, and end up spending thousands of gems. Did get a wizard hat on floor 30, but it was for Bomb and he already had Samurai hat. It also got me about 25,000 feathers for blue, which caught it up with the rest of the birds on the top row, but they all lag well behind Bomb, Grey, and Terrance.

Today I made it to floor 30 and broke even on gems. First pig was between 16 and 19 and the second, where I used my video, was on 26. Hit piggy three on 29 so stopped on 30 which got me a wizard hat for Red, but he already has it so 500 gems.

I doubt tomorrow will be as good. Probably hit a pig on 2 and then on 3.

Several times lately I’ve been given pigs twice in the first 5 plays. Considering no pigs are possible in #1 & 5, that’s 2 out of 3. I’ll always spend 20 gems to see what happens but if I draw that 2nd pig right away I know it’s time to fold ’em.

Has anyone still had the video option on the 3rd pig or higher? If so, I would consider paying the fist two pigs with gems on a good run.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I’ve been using the fast forward button since  I’ve noticed about the same results for green pigs and it wastes less time. Lately, I’ll watch the first video option and close out if I get a pig under floor 10 so I don’t lose any gems and still keep a few items. If over floor 10, I’ll take it as a “good run” and see if floor 20 is possible without more than 2 pigs. Haven’t got that lucky in over a month.</p>

Didn’t get the video today in the TOF, nor in the DC/KPP.

Just don’t waste your time with complaining about that. If they even answer you, they will come up with some lame excuse like “we are experimenting with different solutions for different players to enhance your experience” and wish you a lot of fun with their great game. Rovio doesn’t want you to get the video, you won’t get the video. Period.

I remember getting the video option in the TOF when I first started playing the game earlier this year, but it quickly disappeared. I haven’t had it since which would help out a lot because I keep getting two pigs before I even get to the fifth floor. :(

I used to be able to get up to five extra birds in a row if I watched a video for each, but now I only have one extra bird if I can’t beat a map level or complete a clan event (not the clan versus clan battles).

It must be Christmas!

Made it to level 60 on ToF today, 770 gems spent, 1208 back!

First Pig was level 3, last one around level 41! Never did get a chance to use the video option.

Pig on 2, used the video. Pig on 3, gave up.

No Tower of Misfortune Christmas present for me today.

I noticed today that when I hit my first pig, the other cards flipped behind the pig so I could see what I was possibly going to spend 20 gems on. I kind of like it, but I will probably still pick the cards I don’t want.

Also, I haven’t received more than one spell in a bit so I wanted to know if all the spells are still being changed to the first one you choose?

Well, on FTP account I used video option instead of paying 100 jewels. I thought it worth of it, because I had collected 15(!) ME cards from ToF. At the end, I got 18 Pig Inflators… which are nerfed nowadays. So… the bug is still there! I should have known better than expecting Rovio fixing it already.
