Season’s Greedings level 1-17 may be the most difficult level in the entire Angry Birds series to earn 3 stars. The best strategy is to fire the Red bird through the square and rectangular snow blocks supporting the top-left pigs. You must pop all four pigs in one shot, which should put you over 21,200 points. Fire the first Blue bird roughly horizontally, splitting to break the small ice block, the two presents, and the pig in the bottom-left. At this point, you should be over 35,000 points. Arc the next Blue bird, splitting through the middle two sections of rope supporting the bells. You should pop the leftmost pig, at least. Repeat the shot with the next Blue bird, aiming a little flatter, and split through the remaining two pigs. The score in the video is 64,200.

Note: Higher scores on this level are a result of the Santa Hat glitch. This glitch has since been fixed and thus is no longer possible. While we don’t have a video, the trigger was the Santa Hat atop the bottom-leftpig, but resulted in a less extreme explosion. To see which levels have the glitch, we have tagged them.
Oh this is the funniest thing ever … after almost a week of constant trying including probably 100 tries yesterday and after my whiny post above I logged back on today and got 64070 on MY FIRST TRY! If that isn’t AB in a nutshell I don’t know what is! Oh and now I’m reading vaporizer’s reply to me and see that he had almost the exact same thing happen on another level … hilarious! The official AB motto should be “Go to bed and get it on your first try tomorrow!”. OK now I’m 3 stars and all GE’s on all levels of all versions … wait what’s that you said? Wreck The Halls just came? AHHHH my perfection is ruined! Back to the slingshot I guess!
What is it about AB and early morning? Add me to the list. As for Wreck the Halls…I was trying to resist. It’s futile.
OK there is a hidden trick to this which yields the points you need.
1) when you get the bottom left (area with the presents) fire more level than diagonally so you smash more wood than snow
2) use the tiny tree by the catapult to line up for the right hand sections…practice a few times learning the trajectory….v important that with the first shot you disconnect the small bell in the middle…if its left still attached and covering the bottom right angles your second shot will hit the bell rather than snow
3) on your second blue birds to the right, split them really really late…this will max out how much snow you take out. If you get it right, they will actually hit the ground…
all these three things will make your score out to more than 54,000 before last bird gets you final 10K to 3 stars…
After countless days of coming up just a little short, I finally cracked got a 3 star score using your method. The part that did it for me was step 2, disconnecting the 2nd bell while keeping the 3rd bell out of the way. Now all I have to do is solve the other road block: 1-16.

It took me over a YEAR to get three stars on this level using these tips. Now if I can only get level 16 and I will have gotten 3 stars in every angry bird scene currently available.

So I had four levels from this section that I gave up on last year. Vowing to 3* all before the anniversary datearrives. Got 16 yesterday, on to 17. Have needed measly ten points for way too long. Wish me luck!

I thought 1-16 was hard (it took me two days to get three stars), but this one is simply ridiculous. I don’t know of any other game where the margin between the three star minimum score and the average of everyone posting their scores on this site is so narrow (548 points). And while I’m willing to accept that you can score in the low 70s if you are skillful and/or lucky enough to get all three pigs on the right with one blue bird, the top three scores posted just seem impossibly high. Were they the result of the exploding pig in the Santa hat that was eliminated early this year? If not, then I’d really like to know how they managed to get those scores.

I hate this level. My best score is now: 63850, my second best: 63850, third best: 63850.Three times exactly the same score. Impossible! And still two stars.
I know what you mean – I’ve had 63700 twice now!
I hate this one, too. I try every now and then to improve, but no such luck. My advice- when you do get three stars, take it and run. This one is a headache. Good luck.
I’m wondering if the top 4 scores are posted from Google Chrome? Those 4 scores are 4400 to 5700 higher than the other scores. On chrome, I was able to get 77,000 with out much effort, which would put me at #5. On my andriod, I am having a difficult time just trying to get above average (which I have not yet).
(And as much as I would like to, I will NOT post any of my chrome scores here. There are several levels where I have shattered my driod scores.)
Another reason why SG’s leaderboard is hard to guard :/

But you’re right, on ab chrome, it seems easier to get more points than abs.
Sal9, I don’t think there is the Santa Hat glitch on this level. (I just increased my score to 81400 on chrome). There just seems to be on some levels, the blue and yellow birds do much more damage than on my driod. (levels 4, and 8 also come to mind) I know there are some levels on chrome that have extra birds, but I am not even referring to those. It also seems that the white bird is almost useless on chrome. I cant even get 1 star on level 19.
Just wish Rovio would had made all platforms equal.

I bought abs after the fix, but I trust BL and Slim on the accuracy of those tags.
That said, I agree that those discrepancies cause more confusion than anything else, but we also need to remember that chrome is still in its beta phase.
I’ll take your word on the Santa Hat glitch. Usually there is 2 vids on the walkthroughs and this only had one so I assumed it did not have it. (need to check my info a little better i guess)
I understand that chrome is only beta but I started playing it just out of curiousity. Got tired of playing on a 3″ phone screen and wanted to see the birds in all their glory on a 24″.
(was just playing level 20 which did have the santa hat glitch. on chrome without the glitch, i just scored 67,910 which would put me in 1st place. SCREWY)
Chrome SG are not allowed on our leaderboards at this time. Too many discrepancies.

Have (re-)finished all of Seasons Greedings for video…. except for this one. Taking a break to do some Algebraic Geometry (separated and proper morphisms of schemes).
Hopefully will have this finished tonight and the videos uploaded tomorrow.

65,550 using your method. It took me around 30 tries. Kept getting 63K time after time.

Found this to be a bit easier after trying some of the other plans.
First red to take out top left 4
Next Blue up and over cutting off the far right bell causing left 2 to fall against the left wall and the final bell to fall down with birds and killing the middle green pig on right.
Next blue up and over killing last 2 pigs on right (This took a few tries but got it after 10 or so instead of the 100′s I see others posting).
Next blue horizontal against wall into far bottom left pig hitting as much of the top layer as possible to cause damage.
Seriously… I’m stuck at 63,990… I had to go back and re-do orig AB and seasaons on my iPad… Have 3 starred all but this level… This is the worst level ever… Rovio you are taking all the fun out it!!
