At long last! At very long last! Angry Birds Space has landed for iOS, PC, Mac, NOOK Color, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon Appstore. We will definitely know more as we delve a bit deeper into Angry Birds Space, but here’s what we know so far. The initial launch of Angry Birds Space includes:
- 60 gravity-defying levels: 30 from Pig Bang and 30 from Cold Cuts. The Angry Birds Space leaderboard is online and ready for your scores. Walkthrough pages are also up, so feel free to provide your strategies and help us track down those minimum 3 star scores.
- 30 brain-teaser, extremely difficult levels in an episode called Danger Zone. Our video walkthroughs are available, but we warn you that they are very challenging. On iOS, Danger Zone is an in-app purchase, though level one is already unlocked, so you can try one level before you chose to buy the episode for $0.99. On PC, Danger Zone unlocks if you pass all 30 levels Pig Bang. It is available for free on Samsung Android devices. As for other devices, only time will tell.
- A Golden Eggsteroids episode, which are the Angry Birds Space equivalent to Golden Eggs. This episode is locked by default. It unlocks once you’ve found your first Golden Eggsteroid. When found, Golden Eggsteroids unlock bonus levels, some levels pay homage to a few classic 1980’s video games. This is reportedly Rovio’s not-so-subtle nod to its video game predecessors.
- For iOS there are new achievements via Game Center. For the first time we’ve actually created some video walkthroughs that can help with some of the hard achievements.
- Poppable space suits (bubbles) on the home screen and throughout the game (i.e. check out the credits).
- New animated bird help menus that help you understand the different powers.
- The Space Eagle is making an appearance (see more below).
- Quick tip #1! Frozen pigs will pop on their own.
- Quick tip #2! To unlock the first level in an episode you need to hit the “Play” button and watch the first comic. Afterwards, you’ll be taken to the very first level.
- Quick tip #3! If you hit an Eggsteroid, like the one on level 1-9, you’re automatically transported via a wormhole to that Eggsteroid level.
- Quick tip #4! Lazer Bird isn’t affected by gravity when he’s targeting (after tap), but after impacting something gravity will exert force.
As you can tell, Angry Birds Space is launching on many platforms at once. Here’s a quick breakdown on the different flavors and their subsequent cost. Regardless of what version you chose, I’m sure the few dollars that it sets you back will be well worth it. In most cases it’s cheaper than a Happy Meal at McDonald’s.
- iOS: There are two flavors.  The SD version costs $0.99 USD, which is identical to the other Angry Birds apps in the past. The HD version costs $2.99 USD, which includes retina support for the new iPad (colloquially, the iPad 3). At this time, it is unclear if there will be a free and/or trial version like the other three apps. Angry Birds Space for iOS will run on iPhone 3GS/4/4S, iPod Touch (3rd, 4th gen) and requires iOS 4.0 or later (iPad requires 4.2 or later).
- Android via Amazon Marketplace: There is a free ad-supported version, a $0.99 ad-free version, and a $2.99 HD version for Kindle Fire (nice!).
- Android via Android Market / Google Play: Just as above, there is a free ad-supported version, a $0.99 ad-free version called “Premium”, an a $2.99 HD version for tablets. Requires Android OS 1.6, just as before.
- PC: $5.95, a dollar more than the other Angry Birds apps in the past (the extra dollar may be for Danger Zone being included). There is also a demo available which allows you to play levels 1-1 through 1-15 of Pig Bang.
- Mac: $4.99 and requires OS X 10.6.6 or later.
Understanding The Mighty Space Eagle
The Mighty Space Eagle has arrived, although it’s not exactly what you’re used to! On iOS at least, we first see the option to use the Space Eagle on level 1-11 of Pig Bang. The Space Eagle pops out of the sardine can through a wormhole and quickly blasts the surrounding area before returning to Earth. There are a few important differences though.
- You must have at least one unfired bird in the slingshot to use the sardine can.
- Most notably, the Space Eagle isn’t buy once, unlimited use. Rather, it’s treated more like a power-up. On iOS you receive three trials and then are prompted to purchase more. You can buy 20 cans for $0.99, 80 for $2.99, 280 for $7.99, or 980 for $19.99. We should also mention that you can earn Space Eagles via gameplay, though probably not enough to make significant progress in feather collecting.
- Using the Space Eagle does NOT automatically pop all pigs and clear the level, like it does in the other versions of Angry Birds. You must keep flinging.
- We’ve heard reports that the number of birds you use actually affects your destruction percentage. In the past the birds could help you, but didn’t directly affect your percentage. This is unconfirmed.
Let’s Find those Golden Eggsteroids! Clues Abound
Update! We’ve found all five Eggsteroids and our Complete Angry Birds Space Golden Eggsteroids Guide is ready and waiting if you need it. The Golden Eggsteroids leaderboard is up as well, so head on over and enter your scores.
If you want to track them down the Golden Eggsteroids yourself, we’ve outlined the clues we’re aware of below. If you aren’t interested in sleuthing for clues, our Complete Golden Eggsteroids Guide is available as a shortcut. Okay, on to the clues we know exist so far:
- One hint is available by participating in MTV’s “A THIN LINE” campaign, which we wrote about a few days ago.
- Several hints will available via Walmart, both by their Facebook page and by physical Angry Birds Space merchandise. Supposedly their Facebook Page will be updated with a clue today. But that’s not all. Per this USA Today article, “three more clues will be hidden in a new line of limited-edition plush toys, T-shirts and candy that the retailer will begin selling on Sunday. The 5- and 8-inch plush birds ($9.97 and $14.97, respectively), $6.97 T-shirt and Space Fruit Snacks ($2.18) could have clues on the price tag, in the packaging or within the shirts.”
- Furthermore, T-Mobile stores within Walmart will offer a free level to those who buy an Android smartphone. We’re not sure at this time if this is an exclusive level or some type of unlock.
Lastly, I should also add that all Samsung users have access to a bonus Golden Eggsteroid. Since it’s not available for everyone it’s not included on our leaderboard.

Just noticed an update for Angry Birds Space for andriod. Looked it up on Andriod Market and it is now version 1.0.1. Guessing it’s just bug fixes.
When will Danger Zone walkthroughs come out? Am stuck in level 23..
We at least need a placeholder for Danger Zone walkthroughs so we can exchange hints. I’ve finished them all, but am missing quite a few three stars.

I saw 2 new apps in Google play store: Angry Birds Space HD $2.98 & Angry Birds Space Premium $0.99
The Angry Birds Space HD version is for Kindle fire.
It’s now available for all tablets, not only Kindle Fire.
i want to ask if angry birds space wil be available for nokia symbian belle (nokia x7_n8 …)?
One point of contention with the new game. On my iPhone, the birds are so small, and they all have so many colors, it is sometimes hard to differentiate between which bird you are actually flinging. Particularly having trouble identifying red vs black and blue vs ice vs lazer.
I have the same problem on my phone. I zoom in to check what the bird is, then start playing. I got tired of tapping to split the bird and finding out it was lazer bird :).
I have the same problem with even ABo and ABs, it’s difficult to tell the difference between the orange bird and the bomb bird on the really complicated levels.
I always play on my computer first if the game is available for PC for that reason.
Even with a 4.3″ screen on my phone, it’s too small.
It’s for that specific reason that, after I had heard about AB, I looked for ways to play that wouldn’t be difficult, or lead to eyestrain. After all, if you get a headache or tired eyes on a regular basis, the game would quickly lose any appeal.
That’s when I found, and purchased my Xoom. With a screen larger than that of the iPad, it was the perfect vehicle for me.
Had I known about issues with Android and the ME, I might have done it differently, but what’s past is past, since I own an iPad, for other reasons not related to AB, but it still works.
I guess that, after growing up with my father constantly riding me about reading without sufficient light to read with, I’ve become rather sensitive to that. It’s been that way for me since 17″ monitors hit the PC world, and I could see the way to go for myself, even if at the time it cost extra, it’s worth the money. After all, one can always acquire more money, but you’ve only got one pair of eyes.
what about angry birds rio and angry birds classic update for pc?
the admins of this site are really great about getting update info posted. I would just keep coming here and of course, checking for updates on your pc :).

There seems to be a bug with the high-score. After getting a new high-score it will end in ‘0’ but when I go back into the level occasionally (perhaps 25% of the time), it will now end in ‘5’.
We have allowed scores to end in 5 on our leaderboards.
ive unlocked all eggsteroid levels yet I didnt get the achievement ugh
For iOS users, under achievements, it says “centripetal force: shoot a bird into a lagrangian point”
How the heck do you do that? I’ve already looked up lagrangian points on Wikipedia and NASA, but how do we get this achievement and which level is best for attaining it?
We haven’t found a great level yet, but are working on it. Lagrangian points are tough.
Didn’t someone say that you should be able to get bonus level (Facebook, Twitter, whatever that other one is) once you get through with some levels? I can’t get either facebook or twitter level to work, although I’ve “liked” and “followed”. Can’t read 3rd (in Chinese or Japanese).
I saw those, too, but I already liked & followed them on Twitter & Facebook in previous levels last year, so nothing happens. I don’t even know what that third one is.
In Game Center, they call Danger Zone “Danger Zone 1”. This implies that there will be a Danger Zone 2, right?
That is what I was wondering. I tried searching for the achieveable but it wasn’t there.
I agree, implies that at some point in the future there will be a second ‘danger zone’ (or similar), that isn’t available at the moment :)
Loving this game so far! I’ve been playing a lot of it today, on my iPhone, that my eyes actually hurt looking at my computer screen, lol. The lack of lights being on in my room probably has something to with as well.
Yesterday alone I played for 5hrs and 5mins! Ran my battery down three times in the end :)
No Angry Birds Space for Symbian!? And we pay 2 euro for the games, and we don’t even get updates in time. :(

Some info about the space eagle (ios user here)
1) I’m pretty sure unused birds count towards your percentage. On level 1 I used a space eagle as the last bird and only got 41%. I used it as a first bird and got 98%! Also, a small feather comes up above the remaining birds in a similar way to the ‘10000’ comes up if you finish a level normally.
2) You can still fire birds after the space eagle, including another eagle, although I believe this is likely to be detrimental to your score!
3) They can be earned in game. Here’s my list of ones obtained so far:
a) Completing the first 10 levels of Pig Bang gave me 3 space eagles
b) Completing all of Pig Bang gave me 3 space eagles
c) 3 starring all of Pig Bang gave me 10 space eagles
d) Completing all of Cold Cuts gave me 3 space eagles
e) 3 starring all of the Eggsteroids gave me 10 space eagles
I am yet to three star all of Cold Cuts, but I would imagine that would give me 10 space eagles! Also, I haven’t yet passed all of Danger Zone, but I would have thought that that would follow the same pattern.
I would imagine finishing DZ1 and three staring it would award you more eagles for the difficulty.
I’d hope so TBH! I’m on 21 currently, but have only 3 starred 4 levels so far… :)
@Laurence: Yes, unused birds count, but how much? For every unused bird there is a feather that shows at the end of the level (where it normally shows “10000” for unused birds).
I’m not sure really – 25% perhaps? Something like that, but that’s only a guess, I haven’t really used it that much (other than to get the 1 feather achievement!) :)

Danger Zone is only for Samsung Androids for now (Galaxy, Nexus, etc.) It could come soon on non-Samsung Androids

Does anyone know if there is any significance to the white “garlic bulb” looking flowers? They are tricky to knock out, so I wonder if there is any bonus for acquiring them.

Nothing universally accepted yet. Some say ABOS (outer space) but I think it’s too close to ABo. I’ve recently seen ABIS (in space) and ABSp (SPace) but who know. I’ve used AB:Space

I installed ABSpace from Amazon (ad-free), but i’m 99% sure that premium == ad-free (when I browse google play from my phone it thinks that I have the premium version installed :P).
Regarding the Mac description: however, they have removed the Danger Zone related stuff from it (which is correct, Mac doesn’t have the Danger Zone levels). Maybe they just forgot to also delete the Space Eagle…

Some people complain it’s to easy; some too hard… At least hard occupies you for more than a couple of hours.

Seems that you get SEs for completing levels / planets and for 3*. I have 19 so far, but only Eggsteroid has complete 3 stars. Needless to say 19 won’t get me many feathers. See forum topics for suggestions about where to send your complaints.
also for 3* on the eggstroid levels and total descruction on all levels. I have earned close to 40 so far.
I it’s for PC, it’s super easy to make it free :)!
