Happy New Year — or almost New Year — Angry Birds fans! What an amazing 2011 it has been! I think we can safely say that 2011 was the, “Year of Angry Birds”. Fortunately, 2012 seems to be shaping up to be an even bigger and better year. Case in point, in addition to the “New Year’s” Golden Egg that can be found today, a new teaser video released by Rovio confirms our suspicions that the next Angry Birds Seasons update will celebrate the Year of the Dragon. I imagine it will be similar to Moon Festival, but who really knows.
Lastly, a BIG “thanks” to everyone who has helped make AngryBirdsNest.com the best Angry Birds site on the web. I think we’re argueably the best game fan site there is, but I’m just a wee-bit biased.

Wouldn’t the update come in February, since the Chinese new year doesn’t officially start until then? Plus, I figured they would probably update Angry Birds Rio first before they release another update for Seasons.

I think those who have the mighty eagle when the update arrived when they update it the mighty eagle will became the mighty dragon cool and that golden fish level will be unlocked when you have a feather(flame instead because the dragon don’t have feathers)and the golden fish level have soo much things to destroy one mighty dragon is not enough you can unleash two mighty dragons to destroy the pig’s fortresses that will be cool (sorry I sound like the maker of angry birds but i want to be creative so can you put the upate of angry birds thingy into ab seasons thanks!)

Since the PlayStation Move has been out for a little over a year now, maybe rovio could add PlayStation Move support for the Angry Birds Game on PlayStation Store.
Angry Birds Seasons seems to be a bit influenced by Chinese culture now, isn’t it? Mooncake Festival and this one!
China is a big market, and Rovio seems to be aggressively marketing there. I for one am very pleased that different cultures are being included… Adds a global, even educational component to the game. I think they should include more, such as Indiia’s Diwali or Holi (should be colorful).
In any event I am grateful and more than a little shocked that the next episode is coming out so soon, no matter the reason. Very excited.
As a chinese from hk, so glad to see AB has 2 seasons in row celebrating the 2 most traditional festivals that each has a few thousand years of history respectively. Certainly, special episodes for Easter and X’mas could not get any better.

Haven’t heard much about the second Smuggler’s Plane chapter.
I read on Rovio’s page (don’t have link, sorry:) that Rio update for Sm. Plane 2 should be any time now. In the same article there was mention that an entire new, unexpected chapter may be included following the smugglers plane… To match the final setting in the movie. Will search for link and post it if I find it.

Not a joke, but rather a mistake on my part.
After searching through my browser history, I found the article and re-read it. It was from AppAdvice.com and was entitled “Rovio releases penultimate episode of AB: Rio- Smugglers Plane”. Because this article came out late (as in well after the first 15 levels of Sm. Plane was released and had played it), I read this as to mean a entirely new Episode was to be released soon. Instead, it was talking about the first 15 levels being the penultimate “episode,” meaning that the final 15 are the final “episode”. Poor choice of words, but still my mistake.
In any case, I wanted to double-check and follow up with you before a rumour got going. Glad I did.

Yeah an update, played al the levels from all the episodes all with 3 stars, i just started my ABO career im in W8 now. But after the update im playing seasons again.
Rumor has it that the update is coming on January 23.
Rumors are dangerous. I can say with some confidence that the update will arrive on-or-before 23 January. Rovio has always managed to release the update on-or-before the actual holiday.

Both BirdLeader and I have been waiting for quite some time for this, since we both have A5 devices. If all 3 of us have the ability to record video, we have a few things backlogged that we want to do (such as individual videos for early episodes of ABo).
Also, it will take some of the stress off of Fuji, of course.
What program are you using to record?
I don’t yet, but I believe “DisplayRecorder” is the most common. It has the highest video quality, but does not record sound.

well, angry birds changed their facebook avatar to rio, so it’s fair to assume that smuggler’s plane would come first.
And the previous two updates were for classic and seasons.
How about we make a little game out of it? Bird Leader or one of the admins of the site could make a poll, and one option would be Year Of The Dragon comes first, and the other option would be AB Rio Smuggler’s Plane part 2 comes first, and who one would just get to say they won.
Hrm… maybe, we will see.
You know what would be fun? If there was an advent-style AB game/episode for an entire year. Get one new level per day, for a year. Around each holiday you could have a theme for the levels – e.g. Valentine’s day on and around Feb 14, Chinese New Year on and around whenever it is and featuring that year’s animal, etc. For days in the rest of the year that aren’t close to holidays there could just be regular ABo levels. What would be really cool if this could be done in a leap year, but that’s this year, so, in 2016. That would give Rovio enough time to develop the concept, marketing and the game! (Though I know not everyone likes advent-style. I do, incidentally.)

Without a doubt, the episode is celebrating Chinese New Year. And since 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, I believe that follows.

There is no evidence of a specific date, but it should be out on-or-before the 23rd.

When admins log into ABN, what looks different from when a regular person logs in?
Not much is different on the normal pages, except we have an “edit” button on all posts and comments. Also not much on the Leaderboards except flagged scores are in red and there’s a flag-counter for each flagged score. That’s about it besides super small stuff.
Most of our goodies are in the actual admin portion of the site, like pending comments, point logs, media, and that kind of stuff.
I hear from rovio that it would be coming january 21st I am in finland and i know where the ab hq is sooooo yeah…
