I stopped playing AB2 last Sunday when the top 3 in the Legendary League all had 500+ stars in under 24 hours. As others have mentioned I haven’t missed the game one bit. Been playing ABO and ABS just to keep my fingers busy, but I certainly haven’t missed the requirement to ‘feed the beast’ each day having to spend an hour a day just doing the bare minimum to earn gems. I now remember what attracted me to angry birds in the first place. Good riddance AB2 .

There is always a weird mix of players in the Legendary League. This week there is only 1 other player from the Legendary League, 8 from the Diamond League, and 1 from most other Leagues – including 1 Vanilla. Currently a couple have about 40 stars and the rest have a few (after 6 hours). For the past 6 weeks or so rarely has more than 1 player topped 500 stars. I have 300 free plays and hundreds of ducks and peppers from a year of rarely playing the Arena. Usually I can get to 4 – 6 on a streak before two spells no longer cut it. I try to finish at least 3rd as once I drop, I will probably stop playing. Hopefully you get a lucky streak like this.

@exora staying in the Legendry League (finishing in the top 3) is usually pretty easy, taking 400 -500 stars in a week. The main downside is the streak is always 10, so finishing a streak can be tough without spending gems (which I try to never do). As @inigomontoya mentioned the leagues just below are usually far more competitive than the competition in the Legendary League.

After almost 60 days I can now see and send my Facebook friends in the game. Nice to be able to finally send gifts. Unfortunately every score from every completed level has been reset to 1. Don’t think I am interested in replaying hundreds of levels. In homage to Rovio, every ‘fix’ simply causes new problems. I won’t play the new game (I found it dreadful during the beta-testing), but assume all the skilled programmers and effort are focused there.

@tl-westgate I have always tried to avoid full hat sets to keep the slingshot as low as possible. The tower of power put an end to that with so many hats won. Now I believe you would get more bang for your buck upping the slingshot by getting sets of hats rather than one bird +1. The updates for new levels just seem to make this game endless and pointless. No matter how well you do, the bar gets raised in the next update. I play bare minimum (haven’t played a level in 6 months), just getting the daily gifts and have been replaying levels in AB and Seasons instead.

This update really has reminded me of some of the disasters of the past. Frequent crashes, no friends available for sending gifts. I wonder if they will still pay out for their lack of testing with gems – as in the past.  “We’re sorry, we won’t fix the problem, but here’s some gems to keep you quiet.”

I agree @coudog. I am still at slingshot level X2, with level 21 & 22 birds and level X3 hats. After upgrading to silver slingshot I decided to not buy lower level hats (I have either crowns or pirate hats for X3 hat multipliers). I lose maybe 2 Arwna matches a month due to my own incompetence. Usually I can get 8 – 10 point wins, although I am playing the Arena less as the prizes are minor and it offers little challenge. I have always thought not upgrading the slingshot with hats which don’t increase your hat multiplier was the way to go since starting this discussion thread.

Sorry for imprecision in language @trash2002. Finish the match, collect your prize (feathers or spells), then force quit the app while you still see the star count. Do not accept the stars, just force quit at this screen. The stars will still be added to your total when the app restarts.

@trash2002 I thought so as well, but if you restart before the stars are counted on an iPad, she is still there. Yhe star count happens when the app restarts.

Sorry for not being clear @katydid, my reports have been for a slightly different issue which Rovio has still been unable to resolve – although they do change my complaint status to “solved” – meaning ‘we’ve paid you off, so we’re good.’ Replies can take 3 -10 days and always follow the script of acknowledge the ‘issue’ (but don’t mention the specific fault in writing), apologize for the inconvenience, pay (with irrelevant gems), and wish you will keep playing. I wouldn’t suggest anyone uninstall/reinstall as this is their problem and this approach has never fixed any other issue for me.

I am simply interested in how many times they will have to use this customer complaint resolution script to respond to the plethora of conplaints this time.

@katydid Both requests I have sent to Rovio (6 weeks apart) have received this reply:

“Hello there,
and thanks a lot for contacting us!
We are aware of this issue and all that we can recommend you at this moment is to reinstall your game (Make sure that your game is connected with Facebook account that your progress is saved in cloud).
We are trying to fix this issue as fast as possible.
We are terribly sorry for inconvenience caused.
We want to send you some Gems a recompensation for your loss.”

Very genuine and individualized. I hope you receive as customized and sincere a reply.

No problem @klm13, I have been long troubled by Rovio’s continued displays of disrespect for its players and, in my opinion, for this site. This was just the opportunity to vent. @hank – is anybody out there???

@klm13 I hope I have misconstrued your comment regarding a Mod actually checking in, but the @admins on ABN do yeoman’s service to keep this site going and can’t be expected to ramp up because of another Rovio fiasco. Rovio has shown contempt for its players and (in my opinion) ABN as it leaves the volunteers who simply love the game and admin this site to have to deal with mounting displeasure for AB2, while systematically taking over or making irrelevant the elements of the game (walk through videos, leaderboards, sharing strats) which made this site once indispensable. This forum has become a place for players to complain and (although seemingly no longer) a place for Rovio to respond. This is not what ABN should be about.

Rovio has ruined AB2 and had an extremely negative impact on The Nest – ABN, not the Arena for which Rovio stole the name.

@hank (or whomever from Rovio is now monitoring this thread). I have again experienced the disappearing standing in the Arsna. My Rovio support request follows. Please tell me what the incentive is for me to continue with this game.

“A few weeks ago when I was in the Diamond League, my Arena standings disappeared for the week. When the tournament ended I received nothing and was demoted to the Vanilla League. You sent me 500 gems as compensation and I have finished in the top 3 (4 gold, 1 silver) the past 5 weeks to make it back to the Emerald League. This demotion cost me gems (some of which you have compensated) and many pearls. At the time you mentioned this was a known bug which would be addressed.

Today, I see the same nonexistent league standings. 5 weeks of effort, all for naught. What will your reaction/response be this time?”

The bugs associated with AB2 appear insurmountable. I am very frustrated with your game and your blase responses to fairly major weaknesses hampering our play. The list of glitches (including those which favour us players) seems endless. Forget about the ‘improvements’ and fix the ‘problems.’

@angryplayer I believe that is the correct approach to take. Maxing our bird levels without levelling up your slingshot is the best way to go into each match with higher scoring birds. I went crown, then party hats to level my slingshot to silver without increasing bird power and regretted it ever since. A few cowboy hats (with x3) while keeping my silver slingshot will help.

@angryplayer I don’t know if identifying the player makes a difference, but during the day today, Owlie Buttstomp (whom I named yesterday) was demoted to 1 star (designated as a cheater by Rovio). They still have 44 gold medals, but I will be watching to see if they suddenly reappear with an unbelievable star score. Whether coincidental to my post or not, someone is watching at some level.

@angrynerds2 I am in the Silver League and number 1 (Diamond League player) who wasn’t on the board 12 hours ago, now has 773 stars. Owlie Buttstomp has 44 gold medals, 9 silver, and 4 bronze, so obviously is competing in a fashion consistent with Rovio’s rules. It’s going to be a rough week with 8 Diamond league players, multiple Amethyst and Gold, and one bronze league player in my group. After being matched against same league players in the bronze league last week, this week I am the only silver league player in my silver league.

Rovio’s response when I complained weeks ago was “We are aware of the issue and our developers are working on fixing it,” however that was two updates ago.

@peany could you not create a facebook account with a better alias and then connect via facebook. The gems from friends make this quite worthwhile.

@tl-westgate – I did the crowns first, then bought all party hats. After buying the party hats, my slimgshot went from bronze to silver. It’s hard to tell the impact on scores as I am always matched against players in the Arena with silver slings and all 14 level birds. I have 6 13s and 1 12 and am able to win all my matches, but the scores are getting closer since I upgraded my sling.

@sarahjune, I am able to switch between party hats and crowns after opening the bird in the Arena. When the party hats is selected, the multiplier shows x1 and when the crown is selected, it shows x2. I’ve left them with crowns, but can toggle between them by touching the icon (which no longer shows the buy button.

@rhys4aufc you should contact Rovio support with a screen shot of your empty league. It took almost 14 days for them to respond, but they did say they would send something through Facebook in the way of compensation – however they claimed they couldn’t find my Facebook account. Another player mentioned they received 240 gems. I will wait to see if they ever follow through on their promise, but it may be worth a shot for you.

@rhys4aufc since being demoted, I seem to be matched against similar players as before in the head-to-heads. My win percentage hasn’t changed, but eventually the 14 others in my group drop down to a lower league and the requirements for finishing in the top three are much lower (currently I am in first place with a paltry 150 stars and second has 70) in the Bronze League. The rewards for finishing are reduced (first is 300 gems and 100 pearls).

The main benefit is I can ignore the arena for long periods of time and nothing really changes.

@timbo0724 take a look at the last few pictures in my album with blank Arena standings. After the week I received nothing (despite accumulating about 500 stars) and was busted right back to the Vanilla League. If this is what may happen to you, I would suggest banking all your extra play tickets this week. Week 1 in vanilla was tough as all my opponents were Diamond League players. It took 1,400 stars to finish third and get promoted to bronze. If you are in Vanilla League next week maybe just play low and hopefully week two will match you against other vanilla players (where 300 stars will have you finishing in first).

Rovio support told me this is a known problem and they are hoping to fix it in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, the message is essentially ‘it sucks to be you.’

@hank I have seen an interesting glitch in the Arena since my wrongful demotion to the Vanilla League. Despite demotion, all my opponents in the Vanilla League were Diamond League players. I was still able to finish third and be promoted to the Bronze League this week – where all my opponents are Vanilla League players. My opponents seem to match my previous week’s league level and not the current league I Have been stuck into.
