Update on my extreme delayed start experiment with the attempt at creating solitary leagues.

Yesterday just over the 3 day delay mark at 72.5 hours delayed. I loaded my level 13 Gold league game and claimed my prize. I checked my placement as the sole member of the league and then exited the game before I could be joined up and did not play in the tournament. Still played golden pig though and exited the game completely. Periodically throughout the day I checked my league rank to see if I had been joined up with others and saw I was still alone. I then again shut down the game. I did not play in the league until more than 24 hours had passed. I then played one round to see if it had changed my league membership count. Still no other members so I shut down the game.

Today just over the 4 day (96.1 hour mark) I started my second game, level 36 Diamond. Again I claimed my prize and then exited the game without playing a league. Checking periodically I have not been joined by any other members. If I am not joined today then I will again wait 24 hours before playing a round.

Tomorrow I will start my level 41 platinum league at the 5 day (120.1 hour mark) and will see if I can again achieve a solitary league using the strategy described above.

I’m not sure how late you need to start with this method in order to have a league to yourself. I know I was able to do this a couple of weeks ago and looks like I may be able to reproduce the effect. Assuming this works I would love for some others willing to try this method with me next week.

@steven-dunn-5648 Interesting. I know yesterday I joined 72 hours late and for about 7 hours I was alone. After that I was number 12 with 1st 2nd and 3rd already at 24k.

@partshade, a couple of weeks ago I managed to remain alone the entire week. I am hoping to find a way to replicate that on a reliable basis. It is a way to get through the leagues without having to deal with the cheaters. If it works I’m hoping to share it in the cheaters forum so that others who are fed up with the cheaters can avoid them until Rovio finds a way to fix it themselves.

I joined a wood league today. So far (several hours now) there are only 8 players. Highest is 26K, 2nd 23K, and 3rd 20K. I probably can’t make it to 3rd, but I don’t think anyone is cheating.

@steven-dunn-5648 So the theory, in short, at the moment is that, after delayed (1 day or higher) prize claiming and not playing a battle for 24 hours, you’re only one in the league.

In that case you could wait until 20 – 30 min. before arena week ending, just play one battle and advance to next league.

At the moment i’m in gold (looks fair so far, 1,5 hours delayed start on sunday) with good chance to go to platinum (3rd now). If I don’t make it to platinum this week, I will try it, only one time, because I like to have some fair competion to advance. And being alone on leaderboard is not really challenging

@renitz, @larry, @partshade, so far so good. I now have 3 games where I am the only player in the league. I started my level 41 on Diamond today and 4 hours later I’m still alone.

I purposely started the games on different days to make sure I wasn’t hitting a server fluke. I used the method described in my post 87252 each time so I am certain I have reproduce-able results. I would love to have volunteers for this next week to verify. Anyone who wants to avoid cheaters and at least claim the prize. I believe once you wait the additional 24 hours before playing the first battle you can play as much as you want and stay in a league by yourself.

I believe the key here is not playing for 24 hours after claiming your prize and not hanging around in the game during that time. I have had games where I claimed my prize and stayed in the arena but didn’t battle and I was joined with other players. I think you need to exit and not come back except to check briefly to make sure you are still alone. I don’t know what algorithm Rovio uses to join you to a league but as we discovered earlier it is not based on your join time. I think by using my method it creates a unique league requirement set.

@steven-dunn-5648 — Sure, I’ll join your experiment. BTW, I’m (still) in wood league. Just need to be clear what the instructions are. I think the biggest uncertainty is whether when you say “exit the game”; do you mean exit the arena, or exit Epic with a hard close? This is my current interpretation —
1) Claim your prize 3 days late?
2) Check that you are sole member of league — in my experience it takes a while for even your name to appear. Should I wait for my name to appear on league roster?
3) Exit the game — I assume this means a hard close on an IOS device?
4) Check if you want, but exit game (hard close) periodically.
5) Do not play arena for 24 hrs. What about the rest of Epic? If I don’t battle the GP every day, I lose my place in the 7-day GP cycle.
6) Play one round and check league membership.
7) Shut down Epic (hard close)?
8) Play as much or little as you want?

and For all those wishing to avoid cheaters completely, and guarantee advancement in the league:

I have come up with a method that I have used several times now which enables me to create solitary leagues. Here are the steps I used.

1) Wait at least 24 hours from the start time of the week’s set before claiming your prize. I recommend over 48 hours if possible. (I mostly waited 48 to 72 hours just to be sure)

2) After claiming your prize DO NOT start a battle. Instead, leave the arena. I completely shut down the game just to be certain. Hanging around in the arena section will eventually join you to a league even if you don’t start a battle. You need to remove the connection to the servers. You do not need to log out of the game, completely closing the app is enough. (Just so it isn’t talking to the server in the background)

3) Periodically throughout the day I would check to make sure I was still the only member of the league, because if I wasn’t then it meant I failed and needed to play the objectives. In every case I was not joined up. Remember to shut down the game after checking to sever the connection to the servers. If you want to play the normal game just make sure you exit after checking the arena before loading it to play the regular game.

4) Wait another 24 hours before playing a battle in the arena. The 24 hour increments are based on the start time of the weekly arena, or 20:00 GMT+0.

5) at this point you are locked in to the single league and will always be in first place. Do not play more than one battle before exiting the arena as that could cause you to join with other players. It is not necessary to play more than the one battle to finish the week’s league in first place.

I’m not sure how late you need to start with this method in order to have a league to yourself. I have not tried it less that 48 but in theory it should work. I have done this using android but I believe it should still work with apple. Just make sure you kill the app when you exit. I would love for some others willing to try this method with me next week to see how results may vary for you.

@steven-dunn-5648, i would be very interested to know if this works for you when you start the week with the masses, right at the beginning. Sounds to me that this is triggered by fighting late and closing the game the first 24 hours instead of joining late…

@larry – unknown. These are good reasons for wanting others to help test this. I would like to experiment with various alternatives to the procedure that I have come up with. I only know that what I outlined works every time. I would like to know how close to the start I can push it. I do know that the KEY to this is the disconnecting from the server and waiting 24 hours from the claiming of prizes to the first arena battle.

The most important result (if you have advanced to the next league in first place) will only be known when you claim your reward in the next round. Could you claim the prize for one of your games as early as possible next round and let us all know the result? You can also use this to start a new experiment for next round, to see if you can enter the arena within the first day and still get this to work.

When you say “disconnecting from the server”, do you also mean logging out of the Rovio account or just not playing any arena battles and don’t linger in the arena lobby?

Someone knows what will happen after end of season? I am sure that all players will start from beginning (wood league), but what will happen with our banners. We will start collecting banner from zero and currently items will be lost?

Anyone planning on joining this experiment please post which device you are using, tablet/phone and which system ios/android. Also please mention which delay you will be choosing 0/24/48/72/96 hours.

I am going to use my android phone and will be starting my 3 accounts on 3 consecutive delays 0, 24, and 48 hours (plus 15 min to be sure)
