    Yeah The 5th was great but my covidness means I’ll have to pass on the skinfull and Ukraine bashing.Gives me something to do next weekend.

    I must admit as bad as the symptoms are I’d rather get it over and done with in a week than have to deal with long covid some of those cases are quite scary.

    Agree with you on the equal pay issue. If women are treated equally (and Barton does not) then there is no financially sustainable case for equal pay at the moment. It’s not like tennis, yet. No need to get abusive about it. Anyway we know women don’t know how to play football properly. They just haven’t got the hang of diving, simulating pain, time wasting, arguing with and intimidating referees and generally cheating. It’s just not proper football.

    Didn’t see any of the Euros myself but picking up bits and pieces from various news feeds it seemed to me that a lot of people in the English media were hoping England would fail so they could have a pop at Wiegman(mostly women).I don’t get that at all given what she’s achieved and can only put it down to jealousy and that English disease of wanting to topple people who are successful.

    This test series wasn’t going to end tamely was it?Wonder if Woakes will bat one handed.

    @desperate-dan

    Does he have a choice?  England were aiming at Pant’s foot so India will aim for Woakes’ shoulder. It better not come to that. Please.

    @briann

    Not sure how I feel about this series ending 2-2 don’t think India quite deserved it though 3-1 would’ve been harsh.2-1 and a half?

    Would have been the highest successful run chase at The Oval by a mile and let’s be honest the absence of Woakes as bowler in 2nd inn and batter in both was the real difference.

    Just wish we could find a good spinner so as to be competitive when we play next in India.Excellent series though with hardly a dull session.

    Brilliant match, brilliant series.  Best since 2005? It think yes, just outclassing 2023 Ashes. Either side could have won 4-0 so 2-2 fair although yes, I think England did shade it.

    Lucy Bronze played the Euros with a broken leg and in this series players played on with a broken finger, a broken foot and a broken shoulder. And yet most male Premiership footballs writhe and scream in agony if they get a slight tap. Wusses!

    Miss August. I think this might be the best photo I have ever taken. That’s not saying a lot but this shot says an awful lot about Twiggy.

    Unexploded bomb in Penarth today.

    Very appropriate.

    Sometimes we’re just waiting for @hunnybunny to go off.

    Not as good as the 81 series of course.

    @briann

    Hey isn’t that a level from Piggy Farm?Or should we say Twiggy Farm?

    Brian N
    @briann

    Duly noted your criticism of the men’s game @desperate-dan and agree with it but at least the men aren’t all sleeping with each other unlike the women.Must be all that testosterone.

    Brian N
    @briann

    There’s a simple way to eliminate time wasting but no one has the appetite for it.Have a system like in rugby league where the clock is controlled by someone in the stand.The second the ball goes out of play referee calls time off and the game clock stops immediately.This would eradicate all time wasting overnight as even those numpties who play the game for a living would realise any attempt to cheat the clock woud be futile.Yes the games would last longer but that’s a small price to pay imho.

    Simulation would be harder to stop but harsher punishments should be meted out.For instance in cases where it’s clear a dive has taken place without any contact from the other player an immediate red card should be given.If it’s not spotted at the time but shows up on video give them a retrospective ban.

    Additionally an extra law should be brought in,let’s call it ‘exagerating the contact’.Here anyone who falls to the ground after being gently brushed by his opponent should get an automatic yellow card and freekick awarded to the other team.This is a little more subjective and may depend to some extent on the ref but even imperfectly applied would greatly improve the game.

    Yours sincerely

    The women cricketers certainly seem to be in on that one. As for the men, perhaps it will all come out in a few years’ time.

    Norman Hunter is turning in his grave.

    See Glen McGrath has gone early with his Ashes prediction : 5-0

    Does he mean to England?

    Brian N
    @briann

    Anyway Bosch has rescued a dog from a group of vicious criminals and taken it in as a pet.All very noble until he decided to call it Coltrane…it’ll come back to bite him.

    Poor little Jimmy was born without eyelids however surgeons were able to circumcise him and use the foreskin to replace them.The operation was a great success but he remains a little cock-eyed.

    Loving Miss Twiggy rolling around in an absolutely amazing photo
    A bit busy at the moment, moving house, new knee in three weeks, clearing out stuff that has lived with us since we moved in
    Obviously not forty five pairs of unworn shoes and slippers, Dan x

    @desperate-dan

    There’ll be something @hunnybunny. Always is. Handbags, hats, corkscrews…

    Goodluck with the house and knee. Keep going and you will be like Trigger’s broom.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Yeah nice to hear from you Bunny .Hope the house move is completed before the knee goes into the garage,can’t have Mr Bunny doing everything.

    Saw a picture of Dennis The Menace firing a catapult today and was …er…catapulted back in time trying to remember some of the crazy gifts you’d get cellotaped to the front of TheBeano including catapults,pea shooters and various other harmful toys(those were the days).Reckon The Bunty used to slip in the odd Knitting needle @hunnybunty ?

    Correct me if I’m wrong(I know you enjoy doing that @desperate-dan) but I’m sure if you collected enough Bazooka Joe wrappers you could send off for a pocket knife.Rumour has it that in USA you could  get a Colt 45 or a real bazooka.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    I remember Bazooka Joe and the little comic strips. I’m not sure about gifts. The candy cigarettes were, in a way, potentially very harmful. I vaguely remember chocolate ones as well. Happy days.
