    Well done Dan
    Watching The Blues Brothers
    Just absolutely one of the best films ever made
    Aretha is about to sing!

    “Jake, Jake, I gotta pull over.”

    Best car chase scene ever.

    @desperate-dan

    There’s a guy called @murash who has just posted a couple of top scores in Poached Eggs. Not using Classics. No other episodes have scores. I’m keeping a watch for now…

    @briann

    Very suspicious @desperate-dan,an anagram of R.U.Sham?The question on everyone’s lips.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    I guess I should ask him but with no comment footprint anywhere it’s probably not going to be any use. The overall distribution of scores across Poached Eggs doesn’t look particularly odd and he could well have beaten one of my top scores using the same approach as others. But 3-1 is a bit of a mystery to me, I’d really like to know what happened there. Also, despite having so few scores entered, he joined the nest in 2012. I’m going undercover.

    Her Twiggyship yomped up and down Snowdon today and having got home, tore round and round the garden in circles for about half an hour. I need to get her wired up to the National Grid.

    Brian N
    @briann

    I’d like to wire Infantino to the National Grid.Yes it’s time for Inf(rant)ino Pt.2.

    Well it’s actually Pt.7 but who’s counting.Anyway the guy only wants to expand the shitty Club World Cup Club Foot Sandwich to 48 games and have it every 2 years instead of 4.Gaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! doesn’t do it justice.The man is more autocratic than Toad Blatter at least he had the decency to consult his slimey lizard cabal.Giovanni is answerable to no one and thus does exactly as he pleases.Painful for true football fans.

    need not be suspious. murash held the overall top score in poached eggs for quite some time, and comfortably so, before levels were improved iirc.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Thanks @vuelva. It didn’t really have the fingerprints of a cheat. I really want to know how he got top score in 3-1. It’s one of my list of 11 levels outside top 50 in ABo and not one for which there is a credible reason (e.g. level has been changed).

    Maybe he’s just re-entering scores from years ago.

    Brian N
    @briann

    I’m glad I didn’t start with U.R.Sham.Actually now that @vuelva mentions it I’m sure he was the guy who had Poached Eggs 1-1 top score for aeons until Classic came along and everyone beat it within 5 mins.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Just had a nosey at the PE 3-1 leaderboard and it’s an unusual one.Two spots in the top ten with no name attached(no idea what that’s about).Murash and Ralph(4th spot) both claim Google Plus as their platform and one player just outside top ten claims Chrome as their platform.I know scores from Chrome were not permitted but not sure about G+ maybe @vuelva might recall what that was all about?

    On the (ahem) plus side guys like The Doctor and PJD have top 50 scores.Are you and Steve on speaking terms @desperate-dan?

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    We’re cool. He even complimented me today.

    I guess we can’t be 100% sure about Google Plus because if @murash joined the Nest in 2012 and registered his platform then, 13 years later if he is genuinely active (rather than entering old scores) that might not be the case. However, you are probably correct. This level has been an absolute brute for the top players, none of whom are on Google Plus. @leggy can probably explain the blanks better than me.  Even if I ignore the blanks I don’t think I make top 50. There are however Android scores inside the top 50 and I have literally no idea how to match them. I have been trying on and off for the best part of 14 years and had given up hope.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Now that’s very odd. The message that I posted today and the Doc’s nice reply have both now vanished. They were on the comments section of the Challenge page. Strange things have been happening on the Challenge page and maybe it has now extended to the comments. There was nothing dodgy, in fact I just asked a question about whether there were other sites that stored high scores and strategies. Oh…er, hang on…

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Nah, couldn’t be, could it?

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    And… they have reappeared.

    This reminds me of a front page headline in (I think) the News of the World many years ago which was “World War Two bomber found on surface of the Moon”

    The next week there was a headline reading “World War Two bomber on Moon disappears”

    Two sensational stories for the price of none.

    Of the other sites having AB strats and scores, the only one I am aware of that is still up is http://www.theater333.com. According to that site or Poached Eggs 3-1, the cut to make it into the top 10 (in Massachusetts!) was 69370 as of February 2011 (but the video presented there does not make the cut). Such scores would make it into the top 50, so at that time it must have been a doable level, but how? (The set-up suggests luck rather than skill must be involved, but to me it’s not even clear where that luck should come from; some lucky collision toppling the stack maybe?)

    Looking through the top-50 of PE 3-1, I recognise roughly a quarter of the names (typically the ones having played a lot, as can be seen by their status), and also that (and those names) suggest top scores were reachable in early versions of AB.

    The highest player in that top-50 I recognise, is thee-michelle. I had some nice exchanges with him on Seasons in the past. He is a genuine player (e.g. he’s #5 on Star Wars 2) and iirc he played on android. Don’t know whether he still plays, but you can ask him? He used to give great answers, but his English was sometimes hard to follow for me (he’s Japanese; my Japanese is way worse than his English though; 残念). Other good players there are birdjo (topped the Mighty Hoax leaderboard at some moment) and bastieroxxor (topped the overall leaderboard for quite some time and made the Guiness Book of Records because of it; should be around 2014; the more impressive since he played on a phone). Again, you could try to contact them. Granted this was all a long time ago, 10+ years, so they may have moved on (not respond) or may not recall the strat for PE 3-1 (but some players were quite systematic, taking notes of their strats and how they obtained their high scores, I recall being surprised to learn).

    I vaguely recall some acrimonious exchange  (should be still in the comments sections) between murash and the powers-that-be at the time (I would guess with their resident mathematician amslimfordy, who did a lot of great moderation work), over some of his scores being not accepted because of being platform-specific, or going without proof, but that was for another level (I know how the level looked like, but am too lazy to search for it; there’s no easy way to do that on ABN).

    In any case, good luck.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Sometimes you can get a batch of good scores that are version specific often noted by Nest flingers on the walk through pages but I wonder whether a few slip by unnoticed.Not saying I see a batch of good scores here but Birdjo is the only flinger over 70k that makes a comment (dated Sep 12).Assuming the date corresponds to the period he got the score he was probably using v 2.2.0 (Surf n Turf Pt2)(dated Aug 12).Might be worth a try if you haven’t already been down that road also interesting to know when StevieP got his 71k.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Well I’ve had a little tinker about on PE 3-1 using both classic and Original and I don’t envy you your task @desperate-dan.Couple of observations though,using Classic there seems to be more room for randomness but the higher scores are all using Original.Here I tried bouncing Red of the small wood block up to the tnt(this doesn’t work on Classic) and sometimes Red bounced back down and rolled to the right and on a couple of occasions was a whisker away from colliding with the small stone that sits to the left of the far tnt.With the right connection it would probably hit that otherwise undisturbed pile of blocks on the left.Of course if it does you also have to clear all pigs.You may have more chance of seeing one fly or winning Euromillions lottery.Definitely one for an overnight rinse n wash or several…thousand…

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    I think we should big it up for @leggy who has just qualified for her UltraSharpshooters badge for the Moon of Endor episode of Star Wars. This is an ultra rare achievement so big congratulations.

    On the PE 3-1 subject, I have obviously gone back to earlier versions to see if they were better but I don’t think I ever got anything as early as 2.2.0 to work as the Android version is too old. Maybe I need an older version emulator as well. What I really need to do is compile a list of all the remaining impossible levels (i.e. outside top 50) and catalogue what version is needed. Before then I need to tackle JP, so won’t be any time soon.

    I found one or two videos that showed ABo high scores but all of them were using Power Ups and didn’t even look that impressive given that PUs were being used.  However @bikeborb1 claims that there are “thousands upon thousands” of Angry Birds players who don’t use this site because it’s old, not fashionable and unknown. Discord is quoted (never heard of it). I’m very sceptical that these are serious game players, sounds like kids making mods and animations and collecting furry toys. Anyone who googles Angry Birds would end up on this site straight away, it’s unmissable. Unless there is a big non-English speaking community.

    Bikeborb1
    @bikeborb1

    Heyo, as I got mentioned here I feel as though it’d be important to clarify a little bit: Everything I stated about the modern Angry Birds community is actually still on the English side of things, actually! And about the serious game players part, it’s… half and half? Sort of? By that I mean that just like most places nowadays on the internet, the general casual talk is definitely on the more informal side, however when you look at the actual playable / viewable projects that people have made? Stuff’s incredibly impressive anyway (seriously there’s a LOT of people that are making insanely impressive Angry Birds mods that are essentially their own separate slingshot games entirely, and at pretty high level counts for some of them too! I’d suggest checking them out if you’re interested, though perhaps I can mention them by name if need be), and I can confidently say a lot of people DO still deeply care about the franchise in every aspect, not just the games but also the official shows and merch and lore. Is everything still in the early side of things? Sort of, at least on the mod aspect, there’s a lot of mods that are still in heavy development due to most of this stuff being made entirely from scratch besides using the actual games’ main framework, but it’s still pretty neat stuff regardless honestly. If I have to clarify even more stuff though, please do let me know! I’m all ears, and even though I’m far from an authority on this sorta stuff (just someone that’s looked a lot, not the most knowledgeable by far), I still have seen the community band together do commit a lot of pretty neat things that even go as far as to surpass what Rovio themselves have done sometimes honestly. That’d be all from me now though, so yeah!

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Hi @bikeborb1, that’s a good clarification thanks. I didn’t mean to appear to be making a comment about all this behind your back – I earlier sent you a very similar message in the comments thread of the Challenge page but it seems to have disappeared into thin air. I certainly knew nothing about all this but I’ll stick to my assertion that this is probably a younger tranche of players than us fogeys who continue to frequent the BP and even fling from time to time. Anyway, hang around for a drink if you want.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    But be very very careful with the juke box.

    Bird Leader
    @birdleader

    Thanks @bikeborb1 @desperate-dan, appreciate all the feedback. I didn’t even realize these mods had such a following. Would someone be willing to create an “Angry Birds Mods” forum where you list out the most popular with links to each? If enough people are interested we can see about supporting them with leaderboards, etc. If we do, I could then reach out to the creators.

    Bikeborb1
    @bikeborb1

    Oh, I could surely be able to help out with that when I’d be able to, in terms of linking downloads for the mods in question! Although most of them are usually on PC or Android only and there’s also a fair share of ones that are just out as demos at the current moment, I’d definitely be able to sort out some of the lengthier, higher quality and still in-development ones if need be! I’d also potentially try to reach out to @Pires (idk how to mention people here, sorry!) if need be, as they seemed to have some slight insight on some of the more popular mods as well from what their messages have said, and of course there’s also the whole “reaching out to the creators” deal that would need to happen after all of that. Happy to help out when I can though, and I can definitely say I myself am pretty excited to see how this site will evolve over time with this in mind!

    @briann

    I don’t know disappear for a couple of days come back and everyone’s talking about Angrybirds.What’s going on?

    Hi @bikeborb1 hope things are well with you.BTW did eventually get hold of a Vuela Tachos Space with working PU.My inner child loves watching that circular saw buzzing thru pigmeat.Never did find a link to the Nokia or Google+ levels despite visiting Discord but knowing me I was probably looking in the wrong place.

    As for Discord @desperate-dan those guys seem to know a lot more about how the games work than yer average Nester and they probably are for the most part a younger clientele (but that wouldn’t take much).
