    Personally I blame Bumble.

    Best songs appropriated by sports crowds?Love will Tear us Apart/Seven Nation Army

    I generally only play the Angry Birds Challenges. It’s surely more than two weeks now since we had one. I live in hope.

    My final Caroline offering is quite simply one of the greatest love songs ever. Robert Wyatt’s voice, including the incredible falsetto at the end, never fails to make me emotional.  I’ve played it before, I make no excuses to play it again. Kathy said she liked it so that’s good enough for me.

    Reached a 900 streak in Wordle. Threw a virtual party on the Wordle forum with free drinks, nibbles and music. Got guests from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Germany, Switzerland, Maine, California. They are still turning up.

    That’s why the BP is a little crowded tonight and OB is about to explode.

    shite. cheek. check.

    More just come in. Rhode Island, Alabama, Ireland, Canada. Tom Hanks is playing the piano now. Running low on crispy pig ears.

    Hey @karen68 never thought I’d hear myself say this but I’m starting to warm to your boy Doug Ford.

    indeed, disappointed as i had scored two’s the previous two days (very lucky; sometimes i also start with shire if i’m in a polite mood and don’t want to offend). not keeping track of streaks though as i don’t have an account. found my english vocabulary is rather patchy in the 5 letter word range; not infrequently, even if i do get the word (just because it looks / sounds like it could be one) i have to look up its meaning. (my vocabulary is better w.r.t. words of 45 letters and longer).

    i know of the santa hat glitch, but never played a version of seasons having it iirc. though i am interested in maximising scores (and to that end even wrote an ab-playing program; see the old, 2014ish, comments), i lack motivation to hunt for old glitchy versions.

    @briann

    Hi @vuelva are you stuck in a wormhole just popping out at random moments of time? Have it on good authority that the glitch is dead. Two very reliable sources reckon the issue is with the advent calendar style feature of Seasons Greedings. Apparently back in those dark ages the levels could only be opened using a server that is long gone. It does explain why the connection error message appears now and also why Trick or Treat works fine.I think tbey sorted it by v1. 2.0 but the glitch was also sorted so sadly no way back for SHG.

    Interestingly the HD version of 1.1.0 is out there and though it was released at the same time as android version the calendar levels open fine but there’s no glitch. I have now officially stopped looking.

    I’m back, after a dreadful incident with @ixan57 on a cruise…
    I hope he’s OK

    Tonight was the Quiz: Quiz Master on Holiday, so the lovely Mr Bunny stood in

    I played with another woman whom I’ve never met before

    A half pint “Nessa” who, apparently, quizzed with The Beast from The Chase, knows Amy Wodge who writes with Ed Sheeran, lived in Paris, London, Valencia, et al
    And was pissed as a parrot and kept scribbling out my answers
    We were last, but she did win the tin of biscuits that I donated in the first place for the team with most promise for next week!

    Violent cruises. Mysterious drunken women. Boomerang biscuits.

    Oh @hunnybunny,  we live such different lives.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Who’s Ed Sheeran?

    more due to using something like a multilevel queue for scheduling my tasks, with ab being of low priority, than due to being in a wormhole i guess (can’t exclude the latter, as I know nothing about wormholes). that sounds like a good explanation of the SHG, consistent with the phenomena; someone really committed to the game would reconstruct rovio’s server (spoofing the relevant part of its behaviour), instead of simply giving up. another three today: shire, spray, scrum. learning that to prepare for a pub quiz one should go on a cruise, now booked one (stena calls it a ferry; amsterdam sounds exciting).

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    shire.spray.scrum. A good place to take a cruise. It’s in the South Atlantic about 500 miles west of Tistan da Cuhna.

    The wait for an ABo Challenge goes on.

    @desperate-dan why don’t you play jurassic pork levels? i’ve wondered about that for some time, since you’re (relative to your other episodes) quite far off; replayed JP-37-8 just now and to my surprise quickly (within 5 minutes) increased my score for it (to 252960 / 3; see my album), to up my total score to 10304950. Tristan da Cunha I only know from playing worldle; at roughly that latitude i did have my purest.trunk.memory and a trio.extra.intent .

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    @vuelva, I am getting round to it. I really need to play it on my PC rather than fat fingering it on my phone but at the moment I have 7.2.0 loaded up which is more flexible for jumping from episode to episode than some versions, but which doesn’t include Jurassic Pork. I was also still trying to get all 699 levels into the top 50 of which I am missing 13, and only one of those was Jurassic Pork.  I think I need to load up a couple of really early versions  and then I will get onto 8.0.3 and have a final go at the Pork. I just find it very hard TBH. @jrsqonk’s scores are superhumanly consistent but your comments are very helpful, thanks in advance. But at least JP stays on the side of sanity, unlike some of the stuff in Seasons (I’m thinking especially of Piggywood Studios).

    Montevideo and Sydney?  That would be one hell of a cruise.

    Brian N
    @briann

    AB of low priority?!You need to sort your life out .As for me reconstructing an imitation of a Rovio server,Ah yes very funny,I can still hear the laughter reverberating around the walls in the Lurkers Lounge.

    My idea of a server is someone who brings out a nice glass of Malbec to go with my chateaubriand or John McEnroe sending down those sliced aces back in the day.That said I think you could be the man with the technical gifts to pull it off such a feat once you sort out your priorities of course.I’ll pay you in bird coins.

    Brian N
    @briann

    The thing that impresses me most about Squonk scores is that they’re all achieved fat fingering on an android tablet.

    Talking of Robert Wyatt (well I was), this is an awesome cover of the Monkees’ hit. In fact, one of the all time best covers ever, IMO. Incredible extended outro. He’s roped in a few friends to help – Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) on drums, Andy Summers (pre-Police fame) on guitar plus other famous names of fifty years ago if you were into groups like Henry Cow and Hatfield and the North. Get groovin’ kids.

    Those are great covers. Shipbuilding cover is really nice.

    @BrianN
    Doug Ford is making news coverage across the pond? Here you either love him or hate him, no matter what he’s doing.

    I never voted for him but I like what he’s doing.

    Years ago there was a very patriotic “I Am Canadian” beer ad for Molson Canadian beer. Now the actor from that ad is back with a more current version.

    @desperate-dan

    @karen68. Wow, I too am proud to be Canadian after all that Land of Hope and Glory.

    But I was very interested in a tiny snippet – was that a fleeting shot of Terry Fox  just after half way through? I had never heard of him until last week when he featured in a BBC series called History’s Youngest Heroes. I was going to ask you about him, as he was apparently so famous in Canada, tragically dying of cancer before he could complete his run across Canada on an artificial leg but subsequently raising close to a billion Canadian dollars for cancer research.

    No doubt the sort of person Trump would deride and call a loser. And be cheered on by MAGA for saying so.

    It is so embarrassing…and frightening…to be a USA citizen at this moment in time. Not what all of my great grandparents were looking for when they emigrated from Norway!
