    That link was seriously thin Dan,giving tenuous and gossamer thin a bad name.Knew about the Salvation Army reference and given Jack’s religious upbringing it has  a ring of truth about it but never heard of The Peppered Sprouts!

    Paddy MacAloon could be contrary and was often asked about the name so he just made stuff up.I think the closest to the truth I heard was in an interview  with his younger brother Martin(and of course band member)When he said Paddy used to love juxtaposing words for effect(which you can hear in some of his songs: Hot dogs jumping frogs Alberquerque eg.) and thus he settled on Prefab Sprout.Who knows just glad they decided to write songs.

    BTW if consenting adults wish to sellotape gloves on each other that’s fine by me.

    No prizes for guessing who sang “The Hotdogs go on”.It wasn’t Prefab sprout.

    Hot Dogs, jumping frogs
    Total madness, but we all sing along

    Home, now, spent out, but had a fab time.
    Operation Mincemeat (the musical) was three women and two men playing about sixty different characters (MI5, sailors, typists, a Coroner, mortuary staff, German Stormtroopers, bar staff, an American Airman, et al)
    If you know the story, or saw the film, you could not believe how five of them did it all
    And, of course, the annual trip to A Christmas Carol was equally fabulous

    “I’ve got heels,and they’re made of plywood”.

    Not boasting just thought I’d mention it.

    How rude,sorry for talking over you @hunnybunny.Yeah saw the film typically crazy but true story of British ingenuity.Could’ve been an episode of Faulty Towers.

    I just said that the stories were out there @brianN, not that they were true. I agree with your analysis.

    You know, I could be persuaded to start feeling sorry for Prince Andrew. Not a lot, mind.

    Has anyone ever listened to I Trawl the Megahertz by Prefab Sprout?(Originally went out as by Paddy McAloon as he didn’t want to alienate the loyal Sprout fanbase).The reason being it’s a massive musical transformation from anything he’d previously attempted.Personally I find it mesmeric but be warned the title track opens the album and comes in at over 20 mins.(Being a fan of prog rock @desperate-dan I’m sure you’re used to that kind of malarkey).

    Not quite as big a musical jump as that made by Scott Walker who went from You’ve lost that Loving  Feeling to recording something as avant-garde as The Drift(from tender love song to tenderising meat(he recorded a percussionist bashing a rump steak).This transformation didn’t happen in a oner but a critic said:

    “Imagine Andy Williams morphing into Stockhausen.” Oh how we laughed.

    I hear Prince Andrew  and Gregg are making a record called Hard Times under the moniker Wallace ‘n’ Windsor.

    See Musk is suggesting homelessness is a lie.Think we’ll wake up one morning and they’ll all be gone a la S. America?

    Challenge is back (thanks @birdleader!) and we don’t have the dreaded Hollydogs any more, hooray.

    Challenge back with a whimper I see.

    Looks like they are back in North Wales somewhere. I’m sure Twiggy had a wee behind that tree.

    Anyone up to test out the updated challenge? https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/challenge/ Since bringing it back I don’ t think a single flinger has participated, which is OK, but figured maybe a nudge might help. No offense taken. I know it was down for a little too long. Thanks all!

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    You need to give us a nice easy level @birdleader where we can beat our scores. Not Jurassic Pork!

    HunnyBunny
    @hunnybunny

    @birdleader I will, but only play Seasons, Star Wars and Rio

    Brian N
    @briann

    Yes their videos spare no expense @desperate-dan.I reckon they were tresspassing on all of ’em.

    Latest Z list celebrity who no one knew 15 years ago to play Let’s Kick Gregg reckons:

    “He said I’d never be a cook because I’m a woman.”

    Bang out of order Gregg everyone knows a woman’s place is in the kitchen.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Gregg’ll be ok I hear GB News are looking for a TV chef/banter merchant.

    Good tidings Dan, Radio 4 are broadcasting a new Count Arthur Xmass special.First for a few years I think.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    A friend went to see him live many years back (the Count, not Gregg). Also went to see I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue (with Humph). Said it was even funnier in the flesh.

    Brian N
    @briann

    Yes he’s currently touring with a version of A Christmas Carol no doubt playing Scrooge(Count Arthur not Gregg(he has his pick of pantomime villains this year)).

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Just watched Operation Mincemeat this evening @hunnybunny, care of Netflix. Good stuff but not an obvious candidate for a musical IMO.
